I met with Poncho to explain what I wanted done. I am a gardener and some of my plants had experienced mold from being "up-sprayed". Also some plants like roses don't like water on their leaves- not to say -trying to preserve water. Anyway, Poncho and his crew came back to complete the job while I was at work. When I came home that Friday night and everything was completed and clean. Poncho was very careful in care of my plants while installing the drip lines. However, when I tested the station, I noticed that three sprinkler heads on the side of my house were still regular spray heads. Now I have artificial grass and the only reason the sprinkler heads are there is to occasional water my foundation. Because I had already spent close to $1,000 that week with Tex-lawn I had decided to try to fix the problem my self. First, I tried to shut off the sprinkler spray heads - because for those of you that have never had drip lines that station needs to run a lot longer - like 45 min to an hour - and I wasn't going to water my foundation for over an hour many times a week. Well, I couldn't shut the heads off so then thought I would just cap them. That didn't work either - I couldn't find the right kind at Home Depot. My next thought was to poke extra holes in the drip lines to make it just drip faster so it wouldn't have to be on as long. Let's just say I made an entire mess of Poncho's drip lines as spouts shot up in the air in the 8 or so extra holes I put in the drip lines. (I won't go into why because this is long enough - but warning - don't ever do it - these lines have individual regulators inside if the drip line). I gave up after trying to tape up my mistake, and called the office. I received a call from the owner and he spent a good 30+ minutes explaining the system to me without making me feel like an idiot 😏 and said he would have Poncho and team come back at the end of that day, cap off the three sprinkler heads and repair all of my holes - by cutting on each side and using a coupling to re-connect my drip lines. He also offered to lay a drip line against my house where the heads would be capped, and we decided against it because of having to rip up the artificial turf to lay the line, so I will occasionally water my foundation on my own when needed - and given the rain we have had the last two years - not going to be a big job for me! AND, did I mention all this was done AT NO COST TO ME - my mistakes, no cost, SAME day repair. To summarize, I have been doing business with Tex-Lawn for 5 years or so. I will be honest, they are NOT the cheapest - but you absolutely get what you pay for today! Poncho has been with the company for many, many years - like 30+ - so their is always consistency. And the owner actually cares about his customers and the RELATIONSHIP he has built which is SO rare today in my experience. I am so fatigued these days trying to get satisfaction from service businesses - dry cleaner losing items, eye doctor ordering wrong prescriptions - I could go on and on - which I won't because I already have. The good: The 2-man crew was very professional, they were reasonably fast (working by the hour), and so far the work looks good. They showed up on time, and were gone in 1.25 hours. I had done the digging on this valve and connector. All they had to do was repair the leaking PVC (and replace a valve that they decided needing replacing). The bad: Price. They charged 30% more for a service call than my last sprinkler company, and they charge by the hour. But, what really annoyed me was how they gouged me on the cost of the materials. I added up the cost of the materials from a big box store, and for $67 worth of supplies they hit me for $203. This doesn’t include the fact that they were paying wholesale price for the materials. An example of overpricing was charging $10 for “glue and primer.” The few joints (5-6 max) they glued would have used a minuscule amount of glue and primer. Instead, they charged me more than the cost of two brand new containers. Here is a comparison. Their total charge was $375. I had a highly rated competitor sat fall: trace down the location of a faulty valve, dig the valve, replace it, check the whole system, and set up my sprinkler for the season for $210. It took them also a little over an hour.

It was perfect. They are very fair. I trust them because they don't say I need additional work.

What they charged was very reasonable at that time. They were very good. They were referred from a friend and the gentleman who owns the company came out. It seemed like he fixed and scheduled everything. His people came out and did their job and cleaned up. They came back and helped us on how to use it. Everything was good. I would use them in the future.

They were prompt. Did what they said they would do and the price was fair. They didn't charge extra for an area that was filled with tree roots.

t We had received two quotes from other irrigation companies but were finding them slow to respond when we tried to schedule the work. Our landscaper recommended Tex-Lawn and we found them to be much more professional and responsive than the other companies we had contacted. Howard contacted us and came out to give us a bid within a day or two. He took much more time and care with this part of the process, measuring our water pressure to see what would be needed to maintain sufficient pressure, contacting city hall to find out if a permit was needed, etc. The others simply measured our yard and told us how many additional zones would be needed. We hired Tex-Lawn to do the work even though the bid was somewhat higher. We felt like they would do a better quality job and that would be worth the extra few hundred dollars. However, when Howard discovered we didn't need as many additional zones as he first thought, the price was lowered accordingly and Tex-Lawn's price was exactly in line with the others. The work was done well, the crew was courteous and helpful, and left the yard amazingly smooth considering all the trenches that were dug. The system was tested and everything worked well. A few days later we noticed a problem when we started watering the new sod. Some of the zones were not working, even though they had worked earlier when tested. In a panic, we called Tex-Lawn at about 8:00 p.m. to leave a message for the next morning. About 15 minutes later, while we were heading to Lowe's to buy sprinklers to make sure our grass wasn't lost, Howard returned our call. He told us not to worry, saying he would have someone at our house first thing the next morning with a new controller. Apparently our existing controller couldn't handle the expansion and was shorting out the electrical modules inside. The controller was replaced and we were back to watering the next morning as promised. Howard very generously charged us only his cost for the new controller, a significant savings. We got a quality installation at a very good price, and it was a pleasure to deal with Howard and the installation crew. It was clear that they really care about taking care of their customers, and that their business is run with integrity.

I had received a recommendation for Tex-Lawn from a landscaper. I had gotten quotes from two other companies, but wasn't satisfied with how they described what they saw as my needs [one told me that drip irrigation is required in parkways in Dallas, which it turns out is not the case]. Howard described a plan that I thought was both efficient and cost-effective. He answered all my questions, including whether a smart controller would be a good investment [yes]. He also gave me a senior discount. His crew was amazing - did the job very quickly [2 days to complete], and were careful of my existing shrubs, etc. When they put a yucca back in the wrong spot, they immediately moved it to the correct place at my request. One small shrub that had been inadvertently damaged beyond repair was replaced at their expense. There were problems with the first controller they installed and they came back twice then decided it needed replacing, which they did, and then its worked like a charm. I had to go out of town for almost 3 weeks the day after the job was complete with the new controller. When I returned my front yard looked great, despite the high heat and total lack of rain while I was gone. Howard came to my home yet one more time to train me on how to program the smart controller and what every step of the programming meant, once again answering all my questions. Howard is a true gentleman in his manner, and a stickler for doing the job correctly. I highly recommend him.

I wasn't here when they came out. We have been happy with their service. They are reliable and very responsive. They put in our sprinkler system 20 years ago. They service it ever since whenever we have anything that needs to be fixed.
