Tech By Request

Description of Work: Called this firm to install a SSD drive on my new Dell laptop. As they call themselves as "Authorized Dell Repair Center", I enlisted them over many others. I was told the work could be done on his visit to my house. He came by on a Thursday and after an hour and a half, informed me that he would have to take it to the shop where he had the proper equipment to do the job and would return it the next day, Friday. Friday came and late that afternoon I called his office to find out about my laptop. The owner, Jack became irate because of my inquisition, stating that that type of installation takes time and that Jacob would call me when he finished. No returned calls from Jacob. Monday afternoon he dropped the laptop off. I paid $215.42. BIG mistake! I should have paid by Credit card, because after he left, I immediately started having issues with the unit. I called Dell, whereby the tech went into my unit and found files in disarray. He also found a virus that pulls information from my network. The tech took snapshots of the Microsoft error message along with the times stamped where the errors were occurring just prior to his delivery. The report also showed that the errors were occurring a few minutes AFTER I received the unit. I took it to Geek Squad and they reinstalled Windows 10 and also informed me that they successfully removed the virus. That, took a total of 2 hours! I am now in the process of filing with the Small Claims Court in Dallas to try to retrieve my $215. Be warned. There are more reputable PC techs in Dallas. Be sure to check out Geek Squad.
