It was an underground 1/2 water line that got damaged or cut by a concrete guy when he was putting a backyard patio in. There was substantial water leakage. I had to call T & L and they performed the work. They replaced the pipe without breaking up any floor or concrete. They put in an auxiliary pipe in and so far it is working very good. They came out and accessed everything but they were really pricey. They would not come down on the price. They said it was for the amount of work. I don't believe it was that much amount of work. They did provide some material but the material wasn't that expensive. They didn't want to negotiate the price. You have really negotiate the price and listen to the customer. They cleaned all of the work and everything. Everything was fine and functioning, no water leakage. They were respectful, nice. They knew what they were doing. They left everything in clean condition.
Description of Work: It was an emergency work. One of the pipes under the slab broke. They fixed it.

I called T&L Plumbing and spoke to the owner, Terrell Garner. He sent a plumber to my house on December 3, 2014 (8 months ago) to look at gas-lamp post in my front yard. The lamp had a small flame but according to Terrell just needed a $25 part replaced to get the flame back to normal. I said no problem. Terrell required a $50 service fee to send a plumber to the house, but the fee would be applied to the total cost of the project. I wrote the check. We set up an appointment to repair the post and 3 separate times no one showed up or called. I had to call the office multiple times to get someone to answer and find out what happened. Every time it was the same excuse...bad employee. After MONTHS had passed by and 3 no-shows, I asked for my $50 back. Terrell asked if I would let him take care of it personally. I agreed. He apparently went by my house while I was at work and said he needed a different part. That took multiple weeks. Once the part was in, he called and said he would drive by and fix it. That was weeks ago. I have called the office multiple times and left voicemails. No one will answer or return my calls. I have asked for my money back since it has been 8 months and no one has shown up. I still can't get someone to answer.
Description of Work: The plumber looked at a gas lamp-post whose flame was very low. I was told it was an easy fix, simply replace a $25 part.

After placing a service request with a home warranty company for a property my firm manages, I was put in contact with Terrell Garner, the owner of T & L Plumbing to arrange for the work. Terrell said he would have someone out the day before but no one showed up or called. He did not return my call. I called next day and he promised someone would be out to perform the work. He scheduled between 3 and 6 PM. Luckily, the tenant for whom the work was being done left work early, becasue the workmen showed up at 1:00PM and performed the work as requested. He is a contractor for Old Republic Home Warranty. Since Old Republic paid for the new water heater, I had to pay for the installation, etc. Terrell would not take a credit card, but insisted I pay with cash or a check made out to Terrell Garner and not his company. I delivered a check to my tenant's residence. A couple of days later, I requested an invoice. He took my email and said I would have it right away. 4 hours later, I called but voice mail anwered. My call was never returned. A few days later, I looked up his company on the BBB website and even though he is not a member of the BBB, they had several complaints against him. All were unresolved. The BBB did, however, furnish an email for him. I emailed him requesting an invoice for the work I paid him. 3 days later, still no response. Last Friday, I called and he answered and apologized for not getting the invoice to me. He said I could expect it within the hour. Guess what? No invoice. Called again, and spoke to a lady who said she would email it. No invoice as of 2/2/15 at 4:17 CDT. My firm will never do business with T & L Plumbing again.
Description of Work: Replaced hot water heater.

I had a backup in one of my sewer drainage lines over the Thanksgiving weekend. Terrell had someone come out & evaluate my line that Sunday morning & the stoppage was corrected. His worker did inform me he felt that their may be a problem with the line. He told me if the line slowed down again to call so they could evaluate with their video camera. Well on 12/14/14, the line slowed down again & I called Terrell, the owner & he had a crew here first thing Monday am with a video camera. They found the break after 10 minutes caused by tree roots from the landscaping in my yard. He had the break & line repaired on 12/14 & 12/15/14 including inspecting the both sewer drain lines fully to ensure there was only 1 break, neatly drilling through the driveway & refilling the hole with cement, repairing the pipe along with removing the small tree which had caused the problem (also replaced other landscaping so area looked great) & fully re-inspecting my lines to ensure all were taken care of. He personally supervised the video evaluation of my lines since he's worked on my pipes before & explained everything he saw & what was needed. His workers were on time, friendly & professional & did a great job. I will only use Terrell & his company for my plumbing needs. I can trust his work, his fees are very reasonable & he is dependable.

They showed up on time. There was a visible cleanout which they snaked. The interior of my house was vibrating. I mentioned this to them and they did not respond. Eventually they stretched the snake line about 25'-30' straight in from of the cleanout, stated they "hit dirt" and my sewer line was completely broken. One worker stated my yard had the same kind of grass growth as the sewage areas in Long Island, even after I explained the yard was bermuda (brown, sunny area), and I had begun overseeding with a different grass in the shaded (green) area. The owner called me about 30 minutes later with a quote. He stated the sewer line was 9'-11' below grade, and would take three men all day to replace. He was busy the next week, but could come out the following day (Sunday) and perform the job. The BBB gives them a rating of D-. I did not proceed with Mr. Garner's repair plan. On Monday, Tioga Plumbing came out (referred by my plumber, who was out of town). Three times he ran the snake, and it came under the house. He stated this should not be occurring. He found a second cleanout, which ran from the house to the city connection. He dug it out, ran the snake into the exterior sewer line, and cleared it of root growth He then used a camera and detector, determining my line ran straight about 8' then angled right to connect to the city line at the base of my drive, where my meter is located. He also determined the line depth was 3'9".
Description of Work: Old Republic Home Warranty sent T & L Plumbing to clear a clogged sewer line.

As always, Terrel & his crew did an excellent job. They arrived on time, worked the entire day & 1/2 to finish on time & kept noice & disturbance to my property to a minimum. They checked all of my lines, including indoor pipes, toilets, etc to make sure all were working correctly prior to leaving. They had to drill into the garage in 2 locations then dig down 5 feet in order to tunnel under the town home to reach part of the defective pipes & they filled in the holes & covered them with cement was well as smooothed them over. My garage was left in clean condition. They also had to cut some of the bushes in front of my town home to reach the other part of the pipe which was broken & had roots in it. They called me to get permission first, explained why they had to cut the bush & kept their cutting to a minimum. They replaced the stone work & monkey grass they had to move after they finished with the pipe. I like the bush cut - they did me a favor :) I've only been in Dallas 2 years & have had some planned and unplanned renovation work done on my 1996 town home. I've been fortunate to have found some excellent family owned companies that have provided me wonderful service thanks to Angie's List. T & L Plumbing is one of them.
Description of Work: Terrell & his crew provided excellent service for me when I began having backflow of water from a floor drain on the lower floor of my 3 level town home. He & his crew had already repaired two broken main drainage lines at my towne home in 2012 & ealier this year, so he knew this was something new. He sent a worker out the day I called to investigate the lines & found numerous defects in the workmanship of the outgoing water lines when they were placed during the construction of the town home in 1996. He called the city to investigate the plumbing plans which would have been submitted with construction of home & even tried to find the plumbing company that installed the lines. He couldnt located either. He then provided with me with excellent detail on what needed to be done to correct the problem so I wouldnt have water problems in the future. He ran a camera to isolate the problem areas, he gave specific details in terms of feet of pipe needing to be replaced, estimated man hours, costs, etc. & where in my garage & yard he'd have to dig.

I used these guys through HWA (Home Warranty of America) the first time. They did average work and the only reason we used these guys the first time was because they were assigned to us through the warranty program. Since I had a relatively pleasant experience the first time with them, I thought I would call to do some other work that was not related to my warranty. I called for an appointment to give me an estimate on the work to be done. Guess what... they were almost 3 hours late for the initial estimate and didn't even call to let me know they were going to be late. I had to call Terrell to get the estimate on the work to be done since he is probably so busy collecting the $75 premium each service call on Home Warranty of America. Finally I get the estimate. Ok. I ask, "Can you come out and do the work?" "Yes, this weekend would work," is what Terrell tells me "so call me on Friday." I call on Friday and he gives me a time on Sunday. They pull a no show. I call Monday, "What happened?" Terrell asks, "They didn't show up?? Can you reschedule to Tuesday at 4pm?" I agree, "Sure." Surprise! Surprise! They no showed. I called Tuesday and Wednesday to try and set up another appointment. Terrell said he would call me back to see why his plumber did not show up and to make another appointment. He never called back. Just completely forgot. I don't care what kind of plumber he is. If he can't get a simple thing such as an appointment correct, why do I believe they will do quality work when I have a big job? I hope this review is helpful to those who value their time and are tired of contractors that constantly have excuses, are late, or just plain no show.
Description of Work: They repaired some outside faucets and looked at a leak that I reported through Home Warranty of America. I never was able to use them again, since they never showed up 3 different times. Neato! Interesting way of doing business by the way.

This company was assigned to me by HWA (Home Warranty America) for my water heater that was not producing hot water. There is NOTHING on the internet about this company, absolutely nothing, and as I found out, for very good reason. I expressed my concerns to HWA and received no response. The owner of T&L (I presume) called to schedule the appointment and I requested a 1 hour warning call so I could get home. No call and the knock at the door came at 4pm, luckily I came home early. No hand shake, no "hey how ya doin'", they just walked right in when I opened the door. I pointed to the attic door up the stairs and the two guys went to work, well, one of them did. I stand up there with the other guy making small talk about their work with HWA and convince them to replace the pilot element of my water heater. The one guy takes the temperature control box and burner assembly out of the water heater and goes outside to replace the problem element. Ok, so far so good... So finally the new part is in and is reinstalled into my water heater. I pay them the $75 trade call fee and they are on their way. Burner is lit, hot water is flowing, life is good. About 20-30 minutes later I head back upstairs to get something and I smell gas half way up the stairs. Not good!!!! Very strong smell at the top under the attic door. I hustle into the attic and shut off the gas feed valve. I start troubleshooting and discover 2 problems: they didn't dope the gas supply line connection to the control box AND not only did they not use dope but they didn't even fully tighten the nut that secures the gas line that runs out of the bottom of the control box into the tank! Gas was spewing out from beneath the control box. I run to home depot, buy the dope, and secure/seal the connections properly. THIS CARELESSNESS COULD HAVE DESTROYED MY HOUSE AND KILLED MY FAMILY!!!! Stay away, FAAAAAAR FAAAAAR away from these incompetent hacks. I told HWA of this account and the girl said "oh my god, thank goodness you were home!!" Hopefully they'll get less calls from HWA at least.
Description of Work: T&L, at the behest of HWA (Home Warranty America), came out to fix my water heater which was losing pilot and not producing flame.
