Soils Alive comes to the house 8 times a year to treat the yard and flower beds.We signed up for the natural fertilizer and weed treatment, and it has done very well over the last 3 years.

Trees appear to have responded to treatment. No weeds in lawn and grass is healthy.

On going organic lawn care and soil amendments as needed.

They applied the last application of organic fertilizer for the year. I can't afford their full 12 month plan, so they built me a modified plan. If you have the money it would be a great year round service. As it is my lawn looks great and I have lots of Frogs and Lizards!

This is the first year of service for new construction and I think as the lawn develops it will be okay. Despite additional treatments to the yard, we continue to have problems with weeds and that has been a little frustrating. I am hoping that as our lawn matures, this will not be an ongoing problem for us.

Have used them for two years and our yard looks fantastic! All bare spots have filled in and even though I do not have them use weed control the healthy grass has choked out the weeds. They also spray all the shrubs along with the turf. The Tech always calls the day before he is to come and explains what he will be doing. I have been very pleased with this company!

They are knowledgeable about lawn care. They are confident in their work and they do a good job on my lawn. They are professional and seem to communicate well. They show up when they are suppose to. They come out automatically and they come out on a regular basis. They do call me before their scheduled time with me. When I do find weeds, they come out and do spot treatments.

I like that the treatment seems to be working. They are responsive to calls and they are flexible and accommodate to my schedule. They call me when it is time to do a visit and check in with me the day of to make sure it is okay to come by. They are professional and live up to my expectations.

I have been very happy with their service. Joe is really nice guy and knows a lot about the soil. Scheduling has been flexible and they were able to come out within 3-4 days from my initial call. They were able to come out and give an estimate and then they have been out twice since then. They do an excellent job and my yard looks great. I have been using them for about 6 weeks now. Their prices are better than other places I have found for organic treatment.

We are very happy with them. They provide a great service and our yard is looking great. Scheduling is very easy and they give us a call the day before to let us know when they are coming. They all have been great to work with and very professional. Dennis has done our yard several times and he is great. We just started to use them this summer.

We love them! We have been using them for 3 years now. They are very responsive to any concerns we have about the lawn and come out right away to address them. They have a great organic product they use on our lawn. It does take awhile to repair the lawn since it is organic but the results are great once they do. Their prices are fair as well.

WE moved into our preset house 5 years ago and tried fertilizing the lawn and taking care of the weeds ourselves and using our lawn care company. It just didn't get any better until Soils Alive took over! He has been taking care of it for not quite a year and we notice a big difference already ( we had a ton of weeds). He is extremely professional, calls before he comes and rings to doorbell to tell me what he is going to do. and I think goes above and beyond to make sure the right treatment goes on at the right time. We couldn't be happier with our experience.

They do a good job. I am happy with them. They worked around some issues that I had. They had no problem because I have dogs. They worked around with me to bring the price down a little bit to do the front yard. They have good communication, so I know when they are going to be here. I know what they have done and if they have any recommendations, they let me know.

The whole process has been exteremely easy. My yard was in really bad shape, they came out and did an assessment and then walked me through what they were planning to do. They are punctual, return calls very fast and my yard has never looked better!!!

Very good service. They always call the day before they come, spend about 15 to 30 minutes applying liquid compost to lawn and flower beds.

SOILS ALIVE = POISON!!!!!!! If you garden organically DO NOT hire this company!!!!!! I hired them to organically treat for ticks and to organically fertilize my yard, only. Today they poisoned the yard my pets love and I have kept organic for 17 years. They sprayed some type of chemical herbacide on what they consider weeds and I consider spring flowers. To be fair they did treat for ticks with wintergreen and drop dry organic fertilizer.

Their prices are reasonable. What stands out to me is their dependability and quality of product. They have a very competent staff, respond well to questions and have a helpful website.

I am just starting out with this treatment plan for my lawn...so far they are friendly yet very professional ! I was very impressed with how fast they responded to my questions....some take up to a week or two to get back with you... these people were on it ! I have alot of confidence in them and look forward to sharing more as the treatments progress!!

Soil's Alive has been doing my lawn and garden for 4 years now and I get complements all the time on how nice my yard looks. Now, I put a lot of work into my yard. I have a creek lot with a lot of trees and a large garden. I am surprised at some of the comments here about pricing issues and some rather high expectations. One thing I have noticed about Texas homeowners in their yards is that they fail to understand that their yards simply to not have any actual soil on them. Because my yard looks so nice, I have had countless neighbors come by and ask me what do I do to make it look so nice. Well first, you have to realize that most Dallas houses are sitting on clay and rocks. You have to import compost/soil. Not just once, but continously. Why? Because this is a brutal landscape. High tempertures, wind, heavy rain storms, tornados, hail..etc, leads to excessive erosion. I've dug out concrete out of my lawn when sand and clay formed a nice big ball of rock over time. Cheaper fertilization companies use pesticides which kill off every good thing your yard needs to survive. Everytime one of my neighbor uses a chemical company, all the bees, butterflies, rabbits, toads and other wildlife vacate those yards, come to my yard and feast. In addition, despite using Soils Alive, my St Augustine grass doesn't always live from one yr to the next. Why? Because of constant Collin County water restrictions or it rained for 2 solid weeks and a fungus sprung up and killed a patch. It happens. Everyone re sods in this town. Over and over. Go to A-1 grass in Plano. Load it up like everyone else does, and slap it down. What Soils Alive does for me is take off one giant chore for me. They know what to do and when. All my plants and trees soak it all up and frankly want even more. They leave a message when they are coming, just leave the gates open and it's realitively easy. Dennis is great. I like that they employ the old man. Sometimes I ask for an extra bucket of the smelly fish juice for my bulbs and container plants; he'll grumble like a grandpa, and in a few weeks the bulbs go nuts. Just beautiful! The lawn in back has done really well. In the front, two trees and a steep slope probably made the lawn there more challenging. We are pleased overall. I compared prices last year, and Soils Alive was competitive, although not the least expensive. We will probably use their service again next year.

I think they are wonderful and great. I have a yearly package with them and they come out about 8 times yearly. I have been very satisfied with them.

I will compare my plan (A) versus one of my neighbor's that uses a competitor (B) versus one of my neighbor's that does his own lawn fertilization (C). Here are my thoughts: COST: A = $ 667 B = $ 468 C = $ 210 (6 Fertilizations, Excludes Labor) EFFECTIVENESS (Look of Yard): A = Average ..... Looked "slightly worse" than B and "worse" than C B = Average ..... Looked "slightly better" than A and "slightly worse" than C C = Above Average ..... Looked "better" than A and "slightly better" than B CONCLUSION: Lawn Services are nice but they are expensive and DO NOT achieve the results that a religious homeowner following a proven plan (like Neil Sperry) will achieve. So, for 2013 and beyond, I plan on performing this service myselt. And when it becomes too much of a burden, I will procure the applicable products and have my lawn mowing company apply same based on my timing/Neil Sperry's timing.

These guys have done miracles for our lawn. In late summer 2010, most of our front lawn suddenly turned yellow and died, despite us watering and spraying for bugs. The next spring (2011) we had Soils Alive come out and look at it. They suggested it sounded like chinch bugs, and we started a monthly treatment program with them. In a little over a year since then, our lawn has completely recovered and is now about perfect. (That's St. Augustine in Dallas.) They have done various fertilization treatments with organic stuff that did wonders. They also treated for chinch bugs when they started showing up in summer. And this took place during the summer of h*** of 2011. They are not cheap but we feel that it was worth it. The only thing that I have to ding them for is communications - they left phone messages at the wrong number a few times which resulted in our back yard being inaccessible to them. But they rescheduled and did the missed treatment at a later time, so this is not a complaint. We are very happy with them and we are glad we did not go with one of the "chemical" companies.

It took a week to schedule my first service (fair enough) and they showed up as planned but I had another crew at my home that prevented the treatment from taking place (my bad). They promised to come our early the next week...no service/no call...I call them mid-week to learn that they would try to work me in that week. I am a big believer that most service companies treat you best upfront so I chose to cancel at that point...it was going to be close to two weeks to get a truck out when I had a roofer estimate and deliver with a 20 person crew in less time than getting my lawn fertilized. **************************************************************************** Here is the actual e-mail thread...
