Scott Exteriors

It went very well. Corby met with me on the day the work was to be done. He went over everything to be done with his foreman. The work was done on a timely basis. When the work had been completed, the foreman asked me to do a walk-through with him to make sure I was satisfied. The work had been done to my satisfaction.

Joe Clifford arrived when scheduled and was very professional and helpful. He surveyed the roof and provided a quote on the cost to tear off the old wood shingle roof, install radiant barrier decking, GAF ArmorShield II class IV shingles and ridge caps, and new turbines. He provided excellent information on the process that would take place if they replaced the roof. Joe was willing to answer any questions and provided a list of references and other helpful information. I chose Scott Exteriors to do the work based on price (lowest bid) and work that Scott Exteriors had previously performed on my father-in-law's house roof. The work was delayed by a week because of weather, but when started, the entire roof was completed in two days. The crew was very professional and did an excellent job of cleaning up after the installation. I found a few nails from the old roof, but with the thousands that were in the roof that is not surprising. After completion they had an inspector come an verify all work was complete and met their standards, I am very please with the new roof and the job that Scott Exteriors performed.

It looks good and they gave me a reasonable price.

Good and work was done as expected.

Called for service and got a callback the same day. Estimate was e-mailed to me the next day after inspection, and work completed the same day. Service is professional and courteous, and repairs were well done.

Jordon came exactly on time. He was very friendly and very professional. I didn't think my roof had any hail damage but wanted it checked out. He didn't think it had any problems either. My siding problems were not the kind of work that they do so he couldn't help me there either but did give me a reference to some one who might.

I found Scott Exteriors through Angie's List. I received the estimate in December after deciding to wait several months after the hailstorm because of being inundated by flyers on my door, in the mail, and by phone from dozens of roofing companies both local and out of town. Corby was a great representative of Scott Exteriors and he was very personable. He recommended neoprene boots for the plumbing stacks because he said squirrels would chew the lead ones. At first I thought this was a plus, but later determined this would be a negative. I have lead collars today, and have no issues with them while the neoprene ones would eventually dry and become brittle because of sun and rain causing them to fail and possibly leak. The Scott quote included 30 pound felt while my insurance only listed 15 pound, so that was a plus. The Scott quote also included replacing decking that was rotted or damaged, which was also a plus because I know I have several knots that have popped out of my decking leaving a hole. In the end, I decided to go with another company because of the lead collars, and also because I was a little confused about how much I would be paying out of my own pocket that the insurance would not cover. After selecting another company and having the work done, I really wished I would have selected Scott Exteriors. I hope to be able to use Scott Exteriors in the future either for windows, or when I need a new roof down the road.

From the very start I was impressed with Joe who came out and did the estimate and initial inspection of the roof. We were getting a new roof as a result of hail damage. I had a price for reroofing in less than 24 hours and then being satisfied with the price, set up a date to have the work done. They said they would start at 7:00 in the morning and arrived exactly on time, ready to work. They worked basically without any breaks until the entire job was completed. One thing that I liked is that these guys are rule followers; they posted the city permit, and did a follow up inspection both inside and out side of the house. We had some issues with another contractor, when a new patio roof was replaced and it wasn't properly tied to the existing roof and there had been a leak . Scott Exteriors paid special attention to this and properly sealed the two roof's together. Ironically it rained the next day and there are no more leaks! I will be sure to keep these guys in my contact list and will certainly refer them to anyone who is in need of a roofing job.

I have NEVER had a home improvement project be this easy. We stopped by their showroom and the people there showed us several doors and were incredibly friendly. They took my contact information and a sales rep called me the next day. He came out, measured, sent a quote and the project was set into motion. Within 3 weeks our old door was gone and a beautiful Milgard sliding patio door was installed. I work from home and the installers arrived, started and finished within 4 hours. Not one time did they come to me and say that infamous line of "We have a problem!" I was beyond thrilled. After the install, the sales rep contacted me to ensure I was happy and a few days later another person contacted me to make sure I was happy with the project. This was one of the best customer service experiences and home improvement projects that I have ever had! When I need work that they perform done in the future I am going directly to this company. GREAT JOB!!!

Patrick had given me a $895 estimate on repair work last year and when I finally called to have the work done he did not want to come out to check the damage before ordering the repair. I mentioned that I thought the damage was quite a bit worse since he had last seen the property but he did not offer to come out to see it. I figured the estimate would be a little off since there was obviously more work to be done but we have used this company in the past so I did not insist on a step by step estimate. A pair of workers showed up on the day he specified and worked for about half a day (they showed up after 10 and left around 3). We had a serious language issue and when they left without telling me and without finishing the work. I called the office to find out what was going on and got a call back from Patrick that they had found more damage in the rear of the house and if I wanted the roof really fixed up then the cost would be $1400. I told Patrick that I was fine with that since I wanted all the soffits an fascia fixed properly before getting the exterior wood painted. Patrick said he would email me an estimate about the work. That evening I walked around the house to see what problems might exist and did notice a few more spots that needed fixing. There was no estimate in my inbox when the workers arrived (the same two from the first day). They worked again for about half a day and this time I caught them as they were leaving and told them that I did not think they had actually fixed all the rot that I saw the day before. They were quite insistent that they had covered everything and frankly I did not feel like arguing when there really seemed to be a language gap. I called Patrick again and told him that I thought they had not fixed the rot and that there was a very obvious section that needed fixing. When I pressed on it with my bare hand the wood just crumpled right in. He said he would come out and look at it. I got a call from him the next day agreeing that the section I was talking about needed replacing. Again he said he would email me an estimate about any extra charges. In the meantime I got a bill in the mail for $1400 that did not state what repairs etc had been done. The workers returned and fixed the section I had been talking about and a couple of days later I got another bill for $425. All together the work came out to $1825 and at no point did Patrick actually give or email me an estimate or even an itemized bill of the repairs done. At this point I feel that I got nickeled and dimed to death. Had he just come out and had a good look around the house and told me it would have cost that same amount I would probably have 1. had other estimates done to compare prices etc. and 2. not been so irate at the final number. To make matters worse, I had painters out today and they pointed out more small sections where wood was rotting and would need to be replaced. Even one of the new boards had a soft spot in it. Update 6/2013 : The company came out to replace the section of wood that they had repaired and when we became concerned about another new piece we called the company. At this point the owner personally took care of the situation. Kirk is very professional and obviously takes great pride in his company and the work that they do. He personally came out and checked all the work they had done, as well as the roof. A new crew came out and did some additional repairs he noticed and the company refunded the $425. In the long run, it ended well. Update 6/2015: Multiple places where the repairs were done are showing signs of rot again. I have to think that there is a leak somewhere that was missed or that the materials used were sub par. At this point I am looking for a different company.

I called on Monday, April 1st and spoke with Karen - who was super nice, I would give her an A. I explained that I needed an estimate on repairs to my existing siding as I had some pieces that had come off. Most of them I still had and some would need to be replaced. She said that she would pass my information on to the next available service tech and that it would be a day or so before I heard from them, which was fine. Steve called me the next day and left me a message saying he was in my area and would stop by my house and take a look and let me know the estimate and that he would also e-mail it to me. I was happy that he called sooner than expected and that he was able to give an estimate without me being there. To date I have received nothing. He left his card inside my door so I thought maybe I needed to call him. I called him on Thursday, April 4th and left him a message. I have not heard anything back. I called them because they got such good reviews on Angie's List but I was very disappointed that I never received any information from them.

Work was performed in a timely manner in full compliance with the proposal. Very satisfied with the results.

We were real pleased with them. They were all through with it in just a few days. The supervisor came out to check to make sure the work was good. They did good work. They were here when they said they would be and they worked very good during the day. They finished in a timely manner. We would recommend them. It was a good price. They were very responsive. We would absolutely use them again

My rep was Bruce. He was uber nice, totally professional and very responsive. He answered a million questions without a hint of being annoyed. A LOT of questions. The quotes were all very clear. I had done a lot of research online about the shingles I wanted, and was pleased to know one of their main shingles was the exact one I in all my lack of first hand knowledge but ton of online research was the best performance and price. They are members of all the different roofing associations since in Texas at the time there was no state licensing, it is an unscrupulous "self policing" industry but it was obvious that Scott Exteriors was taking what steps it could to demonstrate its own legitimacy and quality of work. So, based basically on these memberships, them offering the right products according to my recon, positive Angie's List feedback, price in line with competition, ability to handle pretty much all of my needs at the time (roof, siding, chimney siding, and paint which they do not do) and reliable impression made by Bruce, I moved forward with Scott Exteriors for all work except the painting since they don't do that. There was a major issue with the sub who did the siding. He was beyond rude and disrespectful, was telling me what he was going to do to my house, his crew didn't work full days which could have put the project, and the painter and roof, all behind and I only had one week available from work to get this all done so that was unacceptable. He was not completing all work I had discussed with Bruce. When I confronted him he was very rude and disrespectful. Bruce acknowledged and apologized about this situation. He also sent Scott employees to come out after the sub's crew and kind of double check and fix everything. Everything in the end stayed on schedule and on budget. Bruce was very responsive. I was livid about the siding sub but that was a year ago now so the gist of it is above. Scott Exteriors showed me that although we do not live in a perfect world where everybody does exactly what they are supposed to, Scott Exteriors cares enough about its reputation and work quality to work through issues with you and make sure you are a satisfied customer. I would use them again. Just not that siding guy.

I have a leak coming from either the roof or the deck. A service technicican came out on 3/9 to review the area and determine if he this is a job that they would be willing to assume. The technician came out reviewed the roof made a phone call and left and did not provide any details prior to leaving. To date I have not heard from anyone at Scott Exterior.

I would recommend them to others.

All work was done timely, and all debris was removed efficiently.

This is the second time I have used Scott Exteriors. They came out immediately to do the estimate, walked it with me and took the time to explain the bid. When I called back about a month or so later to set it up, they came out quickly. We adjusted the day of the work and I appreciated them keeping an eye on the weather forecast. The crew showed on time and completed the job in one day. Then Chief came out to inspect, touch up and ensure I was satisfied with the job. They even adjusted my raggedy old gutters to drain properly. I used my Angie's List coupon, which they honored without question! Saved me a good chunk of $$. Price was competitive. It looks spectacular!!! I'll let you know over the next few months/years how it wears!

It's hard to say enough about how good this company was. They were exactly on time, did an excellent job and I think we got a good deal for the money. We have a brick veneer home with wooden soffits and fascia and a composition shingle roof. Corby was our estimator. He walked around the house with me and reviewed the home house very carefully. He noticed some things that needed repairs that I hadn't noticed. It had been too long since the last painting so some of the wood had begun to rot. The repairs were not only very neat and thorough, they actually look good. I'd recommend this company to anyone.

I have referred them to neighbors. They do excellent work. When you call, they came out immediately. The price is fair and they are very professional. They are on time and they have a very short turn around.

I never got any response for Scott Exteriors. I used the Yellow Pages. I will not use Angie's List again.

After contacting the company, they placed us on the schedule and dompleted the job within a few days from when we called them out. Price paid for the work seemed reasonable and saved my husband from attempting the repair.

Overall it went very well. I had to wait around 2 weeks for the initial appointment for a quote, but given recent hail damage in the area, I knew all the roofers were busy. The guy that came out was courteous and professional, easy to talk to. He explained a lot of the details and options. There's a few quirks related to my roofing job, and he discussed those as well. One complaint I have is that when we were discussing options, ridge vents were discussed. I'd always been interested in them, and he seemed to think it was the better option. I asked for two separate quotes, one with ridge vents and one with turbines. However, when I received the quote, there was only one quote that was for turbines and not ridge vents. But it wasn't something I cared enough about to pursue. This was a rental property, and I was busy at the time and decided I'd have to go with the lower cost option anyway. But I was surprised that the second quote was missing. The work was done as scheduled and completed in one day. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the finished work. It didn't require any follow-up work. But again I was a little surprised that there wasn't a follow-up meeting to go over the results. I thought that was the plan, but maybe I misunderstood. But I got up there and checked it out myself before paying the final 1/2 payment.

My girlfriend contacted Scott's by phone to schedule a roof inspection. Steve called back that day and we arranged a time for the inspection on 12/11. He came during the day and said that the roof needed to be replaced due to hail damage and we would receive the report that night by email. After that we never heard back, no phone calls or email. Was not able to see what the report about my roof indicated or why Steve felt if should be replaced.

Squirrels had been gnawing on the lead collars of the vent stacks on my roof. I called Scott Exteriors about having them replaced and for a roof inspection. They recommended rubber boots over lead collars and found several other problems, loose nails, that needed to be corrected. I contracted with them to do the work which was done promptly and was of good quality.
