After my initial experience with them, I signed up for a regular service with them. I gladly use them regularly and refer them to all of my friends.
Description of Work: I have a service agreement with them, but I had them do an extensive amount of work on our trees. They pruned a tree, a root-flair, where they dug up around the tree to free up some roots, and they sprayed and did a fertilization.

The owner, a licensed arborist came out with his wife and 2 workers. All 4 worked for about 3 hours to get the job done. This was the second time that I used them. The first time was a year earlier, in 2015. They are very personable and professional. They did a great job. I haven't compared prices with other arborists, but they charged about as much as non-licensed landscapers (not certified arborists) have charged over the past 15 years. The difference is that I feel more comfortable doing business with this couple (David and Jill) because they are highly competent and have excellent communication skills.

Awful! If i could give Preservation Tree Service a grade lower than "F," I would. They performed services for us once and were too pricy. I would never use them again. Since that time, they invented a false charge of $700+, which they claim I owe ... for services which were never rendered. I have now spent hours upon hours arguing with both Preservation Tree Service and the debt collection company they retained, disputing the charge for services I did not approve (and were never rendered). This company is AWFUL! Avoid them at all costs (and, even if you do avoid them, you may still get bills for fictitious services).;

We apologize for the miscommunication with this customer, as we felt we’d performed all requested work in a timely fashion and completely before sending invoices. Our records show that the customer called us on on 12/20/12 for an emergency job. We completed the work and the invoice for that job was paid. The customer called us again for another emergency job on 5/20/13 – we also completed that emergency work, however the customer did not pay the invoice for $460.07 because he felt we didn’t do everything he wanted us to do. There was no estimate or invoice on our books for $700. The invoice for $460.07 was voided from the customer’s account on 1/29/15. After which, the customer posted this review. Our crews work hard to respond as quickly as possible in emergency situations and we strive to make sure our customers are happy with the work. We do not invoice for work we have not fully completed. We would be happy to speak to the customer to resolve any mis-communication.

After several emails and sending pics of the tree needing staking they were very unfriendly and did not want to do the work. Their process of expensive consultation and project plans is a scam when I knew what I needed COO told me to go to a provider who would do it cheaper
Description of Work: Contacted them for consultation plus staking a tree. They cannot do the staking at the time of consultation. They will come and PROJECT cost and have to come back although I know what I needed. It is a scam to get more money from the customer. Called and complained to the COO who didn't even offer a solution

We work hard to take responsibility for the work we actually perform, but in this case we have not worked for this reviewer. She did call us and requested that we perform specific tree care work (tree staking) before we were able to actually visit the site and address the tree’s needs. Typically, staking trees is not beneficial and we only recommend it or perform it on trees in very specific situations. We also cannot provide prices or schedule work based off of photos sent to us. Trees are complicated living things and each one requires unique care. Therefore, we simply could not agree to price or schedule such work for her without first scheduling an on-site consultation and assessment of the property and tree. It would be irresponsible and unethical for us to do so. Like many professionals, we do charge a consultation fee for our certified arborists to review property needs and provide specific diagnosis and recommendations for tree care. Of course we would have been happy to schedule a site-visit and would have been able to provide her with better recommendations at that time.

Excellent job. They were the low cost provider (although one other high quality provider was very close), which I had not expected. They communicated well, were early on the job, completed it in a timely fashion, and cleaned up well. Will definitely use them for all future work. My only complaint was in getting on their schedule. Because my job was relatively small, I was a fill-in for a partial day. That took longer than I wanted, but wasn't a major problem.

I originally scheduled to have an arborist and his crew thin out dead wood from my red oak tree and remove two branches from a neighbors ash tree (with the neighbor's permission) that were over our roofs and one which was growing into my oak. Everything went well with only a slight mix-up about the time of day that the crew would arrive. I was originally told that they were scheduled to come in the morning but when the confirmation phone call came, the crew had been scheduled for the afternoon. This was only important because I am very particular about tree pruning and did not want either tree overpruned. I therefore wanted to be present during the were pruning. Unfortunately, I had an afternoon meeting and was only able to meet the crew when they arrived. That said I was pleased when I returned home: the arborist and his crew did exactly what we discussed and the trees look much better. Dead wood is gone; and some of the branches over the roofs were removed or some lightened. Overall the trees look much better. Two weeks later, they were out to fall / deep-root fertilization our red oak. I have already recommended them to a neighbor and would use them again in the future. I particularly liked that during our initial consultation, the arborist and I were on the 'same page' with regard to tree pruning, and that he was present during the actual pruning. Cost was slightly higher but I feel that it was worth it to pay more because the arborist was with the crew when the pruning work was being done.
Description of Work: Prune dead wood from my red oak and remove a couple of branches from my neighbors ash tree that were overhanging our roofs and one branch that was growing into my oak. Provide fall fertilization.

Preservation Tree Services Inc made a very prompt appointment and showed up on time. We walked the property and discussed the trees and everything and what our goals were and what they're experience is in and what their recommendations were. They then emailed me a detailed proposal. They were very knowledgeable about trees in general and about what would work for my property. I had some questions that I asked them via email and they responded very quickly. They had nice clean uniforms and a clean truck. They were very professional.

I have used this company twice to purchase fairly mature trees. The first time was to replace a tree in the back yard that died. I bought an oak tree that was about 12 feet tall. They planted it and recommended a tree gator to keep it hydrated. A year later I bought two large crepe myrtles that were planted in the front yard. One of them had twisted limbs and they came back and put in stakes to straighten it and make it grow straight. I believe the proof of success is over time - all of these trees are very healthy and doing well. They aren't cheap but you get a lot for the money, including the satisfaction in knowing that you saved a tree that might have otherwise been cut down.

It was a disaster, a waste of $19,000 USD. All our requests about the one year guarantee were dismissed. The owner Harold Spiegle camr to inspect the job and admitted that it was not their work but did nothing.
Description of Work: We had used Preservation Tree for +- 9 years for tree, flora, fauna fertilization. They did a good job- EXPENSIVE but due to ahead of time green approach and competent performance we we're happy. As aresult when they told us they could landscaoe and provide plants, trees landscape design, we asked them for plan and estimate in January 2011. We agreed to a general proposal and reserved right to approve plantings. they told us if you don't like it well take it a way. Also all their contracts have a 12 mo. guarantee. In short everytime I arrive home I feel foolish, distressed and violated by Preservation Tree. If you want to engage Preservation Tree, pursue alternatives. D

Response from Preservation Tree Services Inc
Here at Preservation Tree, we find the homeowner’s report very perplexing. Over the past year, we have visited and communicated with the homeowner and his wife on multiple occasions, and each time we have been assured that a resolution has been struck, only to find out later that the client has changed their mind. As recently as March of this year, we had reached a resolution concerning issues raised by the homeowner and as a part of the agreement, were set to provide a plant health care service that would have boosted the soil biology for the trees, but we were declined admittance when we attempted to schedule the service. The planted trees in question add a variety of species, color and texture to the landscape (all involved were in agreement on these points) and by recent observations, the trees are doing well and the homeowners are maintaining them well. We are sorry the homeowners have chosen to sever service, but we wish them and their trees the very best, now and in the future.

They appeared to be very professional. The only problem sometimes is the waiting list to get on their schedule. Other than that, they are very professional. They are also little bit more expensive than some of the other people in and around. They appear to have excellent botonists or tree experts. Their people come and look at the property and give their opinion for any problems.

I haven't gone back to them. They overwhelmed the place. They had too many guys climbing my trees at the same time. I had a hard time keeping track of them. They cut limbs I didn't want them to cut. They had the city come to pick them up. The city cut a whole in my lawn where the limbs were stacked. They were punctual. I don't think I will use them again. There's too many others to try.

We always appreciate feedback, especially if there is an area where we can improve. However, in this instance, we believe the client has Preservation Tree Services confused with another company as we did not perform any services at his address in May of 2010. We have provided services in the past, but it was in January of 2008. It is a hallmark of Preservation Tree to never leave pruning debris for the city to handle. We always clean up after our work and tree trimmings are chipped into mulch back at our shop. We recycle the chippings and also offer it free to area gardeners, as supply allows.

They come out from time to time for tree trimming. They do a good job and are in the neighborhood occasionally. When I called them they and told them I needed some help with my trees because of the snow and she asked if it was an emergency. When I told her that it wasn't she informed me that they would be out as soon as they could because they had some emergencies that they put to the top of the list. I thought that was nice that they asked if I had an emergency and they put the emergencies first. They came out within 2-3 days.

I had to mark them down in "responsiveness," because there was some miscommunication that went unaddressed for a few weeks. BUT, that has been resolved, and, that aside, I have found them to be very professional and courteous. Once they arrived to plant the tree, things went very smoothly. I will definitely continue to use them to help me maintain my older trees and replace any that may need to be replaced.

I had been a customer of another very reputable tree company in Dallas and just wasn't satisfied with how my trees were being cared for; therefore, I called Preservation Tree out when I received a letter from them informing me they used to take care of my trees. Kenneth Smith came out and evaluated all the trees on my property. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and the fact that he didn't bad-mouth my former tree company. He acknowledged they were also a good company but he would advise me to do some additional things that he felt were safety/fire issues (e.g., tree clearance from fireplace and electrical lines to the house). I really appreciated this perspective. He also spent a lot of time with me to explain what was causing leaves to be absent from the very ends of some branches (girdling roots). The work was performed over two days. The first day was the fertilization of the trees and the basework of a live oak tree. My former tree company fertilized the tree but would insert the probe in 4 places around the tree trunk and was gone in 15 minutes. Preservation Tree spent half the day in my yard and inserted the probe every 3 - 5 feet throughout my entire lawn. The price between the two companies for this was about the same. The second day Preservation Tree pruned all the trees. Santos and his crew were extremely professional, diligent in their precision, and creative in finding solutions to pruning around electrical lines so that the tree canopy looked balanced and undisturbed. The cost for pruning was a little more than I paid my last tree company, but the amount of work was 2 - 3X what the previous company completed. I plan to have Preservation Tree continue to care for my trees. I have a lot of confidence in Kenneth and his team. My trees are a distinguishing feature of my entire property and I want the best for them. I believe I have found the best in Preservation Tree.
