I've been fairly happy with them up until the most recent claim that I've had that they're not paying out on our pool heater, so I've got kind of a mixed experience right now. A lot of times they've been good, but my most recent claim, I'm not thrilled about their service. They were pretty prompt at getting the vendor out and covering the repair. The warranty itself is about $800 a year and the service call was about $65. I'm not saving as much as I would expect to save. Quality depends on what provider they send.
Description of Work: Home warranty. We had a claim on a water heater.

I ended up paying $6000 for a new unit and got no reimbursement from the Home Warranty company. My new HVAC contractor told me that noise I was hearing in my master bath was because the drain was not draining properly and it caused the unit to rust. He said any HVAC company should have recognized that and repaired the situation.
Description of Work: It is a home warranty company. The service providers they used were fair except for the HVAC company they contracted for service in my area. I wish I had read the reviews on them before I chose them to be my home warranty company. I chose them because they were a locally based Home Warranty provider. Huge mistake! They were find as long it was minor problems that had to be fixed, but when my HVAC unit quit, they refused to pay anything. I sold real estate for over 11 years before moving here and I never had problems such as I did with this company. I paid $65 every time they came out to the house and I had to have the HVAC contractors out 5 times in 9 months. Every time they would say everything looked fine to them, but when it quit the warranty company said they would not pay because water was standing in the pan (in the attic) and it rusted the unit. I was told it was not the HVAC contractors job to tell me there were any problems!!! It began making a noise through the drain in my master bath in January so I called them out and I was told if the noise bothered me that bad, shut the drain.

Identified issue but did not use Nations subcontractor to complete work.
Description of Work: Essentially you pay the $60 copay to learn that this is not covered by warranty, 90% of the time.

These guys are crooks. They send out people to repair things and charge them extra for permits. In our case, they wanted $150 for a permit to change the water heater. The permit cost $50 but they contended they had to charge more because they had go get the permit. In checking with the City, they never got a permit! We went round and round with them trying to get a refrigerator respair. They sent a guy out who didn't know how to fix it so they rejected the claim using two contract clauses. One clause didn't exist. The other was based on their assertion that there was a hole in the thermal wall. There wasn't but they would not accept that. They offered up the proposal that they could send another guy out but, if he said the same thing, I'd be out TWO visit fees. Since they clearly fabricated this problem, that didn't make sense. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! One of their ex service reps went out to look at the refrigerator and fixed it. He quit Nations because they were disreputable. We quit Nations for the same reason.
Description of Work: We had a Home Owners Warranty contract and called for appliance repair. Nations sent out an incompetent who said there was a hole in the thermal wall. There wasn't but the decline to service the product. I hired an ex-service person from Nations who fixed the problem and said their basis for denying the claim was totally false.

Mystifyingly badly. See above.
Description of Work: At best incompetent, at worst belligerent. Work orders do not get placed and contractors do not show up without at least one pestering followup call -- requests enter a black hole. We took off work to meet a contractor who did not show up or call within a 3-hour window. After a 2nd contractor showed up a week later, smart-mouthed operations manager told me my home inspector -- an engineer, one of the best known and best regarded in the area -- was to blame for not catching a "pre-existing" (according to Nations) problem and threatened to cancel authorized work if I would not back down on the portion of the claim they denied. No established appeals process; when I inquired, I was told the only higher authority was the director of operations, who was conveniently out of town all week. I think home warranties are generally overvalued, and this one is downright worthless. I realize their business model is to deny as many claims as possible, but the amateurism and rudeness of this company is exceptional in the field.

Overall: A failure in service provided.
Description of Work: Perhaps this warranty company is no different than the rest, but so far we've used their service twice - so far all that has happened was to tell us that it can't be fixed and here's our estimate for replacement. The estimate was much higher than our regular plumber. So the plumber pockets the 60 dollars for his "road trip. The next event: If the mounting screws were found we could fix the disposal, therefore we can't replace it. _No mounting screws were ever found and it's not been replaced. We were out another "trip charge" and nothing has been done. What a waste of monies.

Terrible policies! Everything is written so it does not cover anything. My air conditioner was not working so I called them. They sent an air conditioning company and they told me my outside unit was dirty and would be $40 to clean (plus the $60 "copay"). I had them do it. I noticed very quickly it was still not working so I called them again. Nations told me since it was still broken I would not have to pay the service fee again. This time the ac company tells me it is caused by improper duct work (not covered under warranty) and I would have to pay another copay. I told them Nations told me I wouldnt have to. He said no, since it was a different diagnosis I would have to pay again. I explained that clearly it was misdiagnosed the first time and should not have to pay. I called Nations and they told me too bad and I would have to pay again. I asked the woman on the phone whose side she was on. She said that they were not responsible for the companies and if they missed the problem the first time it was not their fault. I will NOT renew my warranty with them when it expires. I had planned on it, but not now. I think their customer service is terrible and their warranty is useless.
Description of Work: I purchased a warranty through them when I purchased my home.

They do what they say they'll do. They've got good vendors. Half the reason for taking their service is in case I ever need something that is not covered I call one of their vendors because they're always good. I had one dispute with them, but I read the policy again and they were right. Their professionalism is always very good.
