Mr. Handyman of Dallas

Mr. Handyman made an appointment to view project and provide an estimate. The representative said that Mr. Handyman would give an estimate, but that it might take a week or two for research...that was six weeks ago, and still no estimate. I wasted my time meeting their rep for an appointment.

The Mr. Handyman technician arrived promptly on time, was courteous and certainly wanted to be helpful. However, he did not remotely have the skills for the job, which was clearly stated in the phone conversation when schduling the appointment. Meanwhile, I was told to find other small jobs for the technician to do (which they charged me for) while they located another more experienced technician to complete the work, and they did complete the installation job that day. Mr. Handyman did manage the additional cost of the two technicians by taking one of them off the clock while materials were being purchased. I did need to hire an additional handyman to finish the work, whcih involved paint and spackle for area on and around the door, so there was additional cost to the job. Since Mr.Handyman had not sent a qualifed worker for the job from the start, I didn't have confidence that they would send the appropriate technician for the finish work.

Richard and Zang did the job. They were professional and very personable. No wasted time. Knew what they were doing and it was not an easy job. AND, they cleaned up after themselves!!

They gave me a ten percent discount on the work I had done. After they fixed the door I can open it properly. The two guys who they sent out were very personable and very nice. They did not waste a lot of time and did a great job. It took a lot of effort on their part to get the job done. Once they fixed everything and I was supposed to leave I realized my burglar alarm would not come on. When I called them and told them about this they sent the same guys out the same day and did not charge me an extra penny for it.

The office staff was very friendly and gave me a clear idea of their services and costs. I needed the work done at a specified time and date and they had no problem working in that window. Fred was personable, did a neat job, and cleaned up afterward. Thanks!

The service was pleasant and professional. The ceiling patch took longer than anticipated, but he did a very good job. They are very expensive, so I would think about someone else for other small jobs.

They were very good. They charge by the hour. It is like having your buddy come over to do your to do list. I would recommend them others. They are very much on time, and will be there when they say they will.

Service technician arrived right on time. He inspected the work area, then gave us an overview of materials required (shingles etc.)-- which he quickly purchased at the local hardware store. He finished the job efficiently and the final cost also totalled to what we had expected. Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend Mr. Handyman

I called and was greeted by a friendly representative. Fred was assigned to my home, and was able to come out to the house within just a few days. He ended up needing 3 1/2 days to complete the many items on my list. He arrived at or before 8 am, as promised, each day. Fred was friendly and knowledgeable. He was trustworthy, efficient and did a great job on all the tasks. The house is so immensely better, and I kept telling him that I wished I had called Mr. Handyman years ago. So many different items on my home repair to-do list were completed in a short time and for a very reasonable price. I can't speak highly enough about this company and Fred in particular. I plan to hire this company again (and will be certain to make a special request for the help of Fred) and would highly recommend Mr. Handyman. I've had problems with other handymen and contractors from other companies -- but no problems were encountered here. 10+ service. Wow. Just a great experience.

The work is fabulous. They did it the work one day. They cleaned up very well.

Pleasant experience. The technician arrived promply as agreed, very pleasant and easy to interact with. Very knowledgeable. Worked at a fast pace, thourough, aimed to please. My husband is very handy around the house but due to his work, not able to complete the repairs which were required. I would most definately recommend this technician (Richard).

Overall experience was great. It was easy to set a convenient appointment. They gave me a window of time, and called to let me know when the handyman (Fred) was on his way. He showed upon time, I signed him in and he took a look at the job and got right to work. He was fast thorough and clean, Both jobs were done in about 2 hours. I would definitely recommend them.

Called this company because of the good reviews here on Angie's List. One of their guys came out and went over my list - some painting, carpentry, plumbing, removing a glued-on mirror, - a variety of things. He was very nice and professional. Wrote me a "Bid" on a Scope of Work Approval form. Each item we discussed had an amount written in. I would provide materials. The amounts seemed a little high, but not excessively. He did not write anything about a per hour rate, just total amounts. There is a lot of information on the back of the form about Time and Materials Estimate and that the amounts listed are "estimate(s), and not a fixed price bid." I understood that the charges could vary somewhat. ***** They also charge for the estimate. It's called a Service Fee - $65. This charge was not credited to the work performed, as reported by another member. **** I called and made an appt. to have Mr. Handyman do three of the tasks from the bid - $355 estimate plus materials. Again, no times or rates were written - just total amounts. From what their technician told me, all three could be completed during one call. The work is excellent and the tech was friendly and professional. He did leave to purchase a plumbing valve and I agreed to pay for it. He arrived at 830 and wrote up my invoice at 545. However, at completion I wound up being charged double the amount quoted. I requested that my credit card not be charged until I could discuss the pricing with their office. Left a message for them to call me. I did get two call backs several days apart letting me know someone would research the work order and call me. According the their office, my paperwork went AWOL and I wound up not getting a call back right away. When they did call me, both the owner and the office manager spoke with me and were able to adjust the pricing to an amount just slightly more than the quoted price. I regret that there was a conflict on the price but Mr. Handyman did provide a quick and equitable resolution.

When I called, the representative was very professional and courteous. I got and estimate for labor cost to remove a broken power attic vent and replace it with a new one. I was providing all the materials. The appointment was scheduled and I was called the day before to confirm. Tim, the technician, arrived on time and completed the work within the time estimated. Tim advised me to check for leaks the next time it rains and to call if I experience any problems.

The representative was punctual, professional, friendly, and quickly completed the work, cleaning up after he was done. He also provided me with a checklist of the sort of projects Mr. Handyman is equipped to handle. It is reassuring to know that I could call one source for so many different sorts of household repairs. I will definitely use Mr. Handyman again!

The guy who came out was good. There was a miscommunication on my part. It was my fault. The girl at the office was not very nice. In the end it was the service tech who charged me the right price. The owner called later apologizing for the misunderstanding. He left a mess in my bathroom that I had to clean up.

Excellent. The professionalism, punctuality, and speed of Mr. Handyman can't be beat. I had a neighborhood handyman but he became unreliable. Mr. Handyman takes the stress and aggravation of hiring someone to do small projects out of the equation.

They came out to do an estimate as I was not sure what I had to do on floor leveling and I was not sure what I needed to do. The guy told me that I needed to clean the floor, level them out and then gave me a quote. I said that whether he could do it in two days and he came out and leveled the floors. The job went just fine. I got it done that day. He was prompt, was on time and got the job done so that I got it done what I needed to work with. I think that the price wasn’t bad as I hadn’t had anyone else to give a quote. They were there for any question I had as far as how long it would take in advance and that was what I was looking at.

When I called Mr. Handyman I was told they would send out their "best painter" to paint my small bedroom. On 9/1 a nice man arrived and efficiently painted the room. He also fixed a few other small things as arranged. Everything appeared to be ok until late that evening when I turned on the lamps. There were streaks EVERYWHERE. The ceiling was the worst. Furthermore I discovered paint drops on my brand new bed linens, on my furniture and on the wood floors. When I called them to discuss the quality of the job, they were nice and scheduled another painter to come out. We had used semi-gloss the first time. I was afraid to use that again, thinking perhaps that was part of the problem. So I changed to a flat finish and had them repaint the entire room. Despite the poor quality of the first job, they were only willing to paint the ceiling again for free. They said they would offer me a "good deal" with a reduced price. So they charged $324 to repaint the room. The second man did a much better job. Bottom line though, neither handymen were painters. One was a plumber and the other a tile man. I have a pretty good paint job after two lost work days and double the supply costs and $975!

Jeff arrived on time, but he had failed to come prepared with the materials we discussed during the initial service call. His estimate was way too optimistic to complete the 4 or 5 different jobs we discussed - his estimate was about 8 hours to complete all tasks. After going to a nearby home center to get the materials for the few remaining items on my list, he returned and completed the tasks to my satisfaction. My problem with Mr. Handyman is that their original estimate was off by a huge amount and extremely optimistic. The two tasks I had Jeff complete were no more than 2 hours labor total in the original estimate, but he took almost 4 hours. This is my beef with Mr. Handyman - they do not stay close enough to their original estimates for me. To his credit, Jeff was very professional, thorough, and helpful to me in a chaotic situation that arose on Monday morning. I would not call Mr. Handyman again because their estimates are not realistic, which in the end makes it more difficult for me to schedule and plan coordination of various contractors required to complete all ofthe tasks in a major kitchen & bath renovation project.
