Description of Work: We needed a new front door. We were looking at the prospect of the need to have a pre-hung unit installed. And frankly I didn't want any of the doors available at places like Home Depot or Lowe's....driving around various neighborhoods in Oak Cliff you could see the same door over and over again. I wanted something more appropriate for our 1950's brick ranch-style house. I found a door I liked at www.crestviewdoors.com , but they only sell slabs, not pre-hung units. So I contacted Mr. Handyman back in early February to have them check out the existing door frame, and give me a labor estimate should I go the Crestview route. Duan showed up bright and early the morning of Monday, Feb 11th, and wonder of wonders, told me my existing door frame was in acceptable condition to accept a new 36" x 80" slab. He also provided an estimate, and in talking to me about the procedure, reassured me that he was the right man for the job. We agreed that I would order the door and hardware, and give him a call when everything was at the house, and we would scheduled a day for installation. Crestview builds door slabs as they're ordered, so it took approximately 5 weeks for it to be delivered and for me to prime and paint it. I called Mr. Handyman and was able to schedule Duan...which made all the sense in the world since he had been the one who looked at the potential job in the first place. He showed up a little early on Monday, March 25. And was able to talk me through a few of the things he was doing. Also, he allowed me to photograph the process. To say I am extremely satisfied with the installation is an understatement. The door and hardware look fantastic and really added a welcome touch of curb appeal, while also allowing diffused light into our entry way via the three ribbed glass panels in the new door slab. Duan and Mr. Handyman also presented me a list of tasks that they can perform. I don't have anything for them to do now, but if I ever need a task done that I don't have tools for, or for something that will not over exert my fragile back, I will be sure and call Mr. Handyman. Highly recommended!

Description of Work: My house is 25 years old. Tiles in the bathroom needed to be re-caulked. Mr. Handyman sent a very competent person who did the work cleanly and cheerfully. He came right when they said he would. I did not check his price against other tile people. I have had good luck with Mr. Handyman for other little jobs around the house.

+ -1 moreJeff arrived at the appointed time and we walked through the house with my list of things to be repaired. He quickly went to work on the windows thoughout the house that had loose or missing hardware. He moved from one job to the next needing little guidance from me. He was pleasant (told a story about his 5 year-old grandson) but professional. He left in less than 3 hours, with all jobs complete except the parts that he had to order for the windows. I have used this company in the past with good results and will use them in the future. The one thing to remember is they charge a pretty hefty housecall charge so it's best to have multiple tasks to perform.
Description of Work: Jeff performed various tasks around my new house: installed hardware on new cabinets (he had the correct screws on his truck!), tightened and repaired all casement windows, hung pictures, and diagnosed problem with jet tub.

+ 2 moreAlthough Val the technician was pleasant and cleaned up after himself, he was exceedingly slow and did not seem to know the work. First he was an hour late. I sent the list to the company prior to the service call to make sure I was assigned someone who could do all the tasks. The appointment woman said she would take good care of me and send her best technician. What should have taken about 4 hours took 7.5 hours. Val stripped a screw taking down the fan, then spent several hours trying to find another and get it put up again. He finally had to call for help. I told him there were two holes in the screens, he replaced one and put away all his tools and I had to point out the other, which was large. More time to get everything out again. I had on the list to have a sprinkler head replaced. He said he did not know how to do this and would have to find someone to teach him. I sure wasn't going to pay for his on the job training. I spent about $250 more than I should have had to.
Description of Work: Re-grouted corners of shower floor and along sinks in master bath, switched fan in one room with overhead light in another, repaired two screens, and reseated lock plate to make door lock easier to open.
