DO NOT TRUST. MasterTech technicians played scare tactics for more business. Master Tech was assigned through my home warranty company. Technician Ryan C arrived on schedule. He examined the coil and gave me a substantial cost of thousands to replace the coil even though the blower motor in the furnace was the issue. He forced our home warranty to decline the claim by citing biological growth on the coil. I had to hire another technician to clean the coil to regain home warranty coverage. Moreover, the maintenance technician told me that rust on coils over many years of use is normal, and Master Tech did this to get more business from me.

Troy came to troubleshoot our issues and quote out some work. He was very thorough and explained everything that he was doing and looking at in great detail and in a way that we could understand it. We didn’t feel like we were being oversold anything and he was reasonable about the condition of our HVAC unit now and what we might want to look towards getting in the future. We were connected with Master Tech through our home warranty. We had a third party confirm that our system was leaking coolant. The tech came by, topped it off, and left. When we told the home warranty that the problem was not fixed, they sent the same tech back, and of course he checked the coolant, declared that it was working normally, and left again. Everyone involved here knows that there's a leak in our air conditioning system and that topping it off with coolant will just push the problem out a month or two, but neither the home warranty company nor Master Tech is willing to honor their obligation to actually repair the system. We will never work with Master Tech again.

We obviously did not do that here, and for that, I am sorry. We have tried to reach you by phone several times trying to avoid the back-and-forth of a public online forum, but you have yet to answer or call us back. In regards to your personal circumstance, I think it is important to understand how home warranty works. All home warranty are different in their approach to repairs. In fact, there are several with which we do not work because of their practices. First American Home Warranty is amongst the best, with the best coverages, as well as siding with homeowners more often than others. However, there are still strict stipulations in which they require to approve repairs. No matter the home warranty company, there are always (zero exceptions to the rules no matter the plan or coverage) 2 items that must be in place for coverage of a repair: 1. the item must be fully failed; 2. the failure must be due to normal wear and tear. In your case, the evaporator coil was just a little bit low on refrigerant, which is very common this time of year as systems haven't been operating in several months; it was NOT fully mechanically failed. We added just 2.5 lbs of refrigerant, per First American'[Member Information Removed] instructions, and when we were there during the 2nd visit, all the refrigerant had held. First American did not approve a $3,000 repair when the current coil wasn't fully failed. We'd be happy to reimburse you the $75 and, if you wanted, could send another tech out to give you a 2nd opinion. We can't guarantee your home warranty will cover the repairs, but we can make that extra effort if you would like. Please return our phone calls at 817-251-4455.

Master Tech was sent out through my home warranty company Old Republic to look at my ac unit that was not turning on. Ryan came out and did a very thorough check of my unit and had to replace my blower motor. He was very efficient and got the job done in a timely manner. Life long customer of Master Tech for sure. My water heater was no longer producing hot water. I called Master tech and spoke with Rachel in the office. She very quickly got me put on the schedule and had a technician out the same day. The plumber that came out to my house was Justin and he was very knowledgeable and informative. My water heater had to be replaced and they were able to install my new water heater the very next day. Very happy with the customer service I received from Master Tech.

I had Master Tech sent to my house by my home warranty company, and I’m glad I did. My 25 year old downstairs AC was on its last leg, and the tech was very helpful in diagnosing the issue. Because of new city codes in my area, there were parts not covered by my home warranty that would need replacing (verified by ORHP). By the time I replaced these parts I would have been 1/3 the way to a new unit. He could have just told me “it’s XX to fix it” and walked away, but he gave me options. He wasn’t pushy either. He told me “it’s XX to fix it and bring it up to code”, and told me he could come back the next day with the parts and get it done. He also showed me what the cost was for a completely new, more efficient unit with a 60 month no interest payment plan. It was a no-brainer. I know it’s just salesmanship, but I didn’t have any choice buT to fix the AC one way or another. He made sure I got the better deal for my money, and we are much happier for it.

My som recommended this company because his neighbors in the Hackberry Creek neighborhood are big fans of the company. On the assumption that Hackberry Creek customers could be a demanding clientele, it seemed worth checking them out. And the Angies List ratings were compelling, including the extensive responses given by the head of the company, Matt Ecoff, to the negative reviews (which were just about all connected with home warranty questions, not with the quality of work). He seemed to care about his company's reputation and took it on himself to keep things in the open. That was important to me. Master Tech was, on the whole, a pleasure to work with. The tech who came to evaluate our system needs seemed knowledgeable, and I did not feel pressure to use them, so it was a comfortable conversation. He knew I was getting at least one other quote, and he did not in any way speak ill of the competitor. As it is, the price from Master Tech was fully competitive with the other company and offered a longer-term payment plan, which we needed. Also, they were able to begin the installation two to three days ahead of the next company, which was quite important. Communication with the company was excellent during the process. This became important when - and this was the only issue that arose - the install team took a break on the installation day, and didn't return for a couple of hours. They also hadn't let me know they were leaving, and so it was disconcerting to realize that the job had stopped for a time without my having a sense of when they were returning. But to the credit of the company, their customer service manager got on top of the issue when I called, as did our sales rep and Mr. Ecoff, who more than once had corresponded extensively when I had any questions. And the fellow who did come back to complete the day's work stayed well past sundown so that we had working A/C for the evening (the final work was done the next day, but the system was operating, in any case). I was impressed with how hard and long he worked so that we were comfortable: I felt it made up for the earlier glitch. How one deals with a problem can say more than when there is no problem at all. The inspection by the city of Irving went without any hitch, so from that standpoint, the work looks to be done right. And the system is definitely doing its job.

Matt , Rocky and the installation team did a great job for us. From the first appointment to evaluate our system to the final install, all of the team were on time, professional, personable and their work was excellent. I felt that their pricing was very competitive and fair. By utilizing environmental discounts, they were actually able to offer us a higher SEER rated system at a lower price than next lower rated system. We loved this company! Coinsidentally I had another company over a week prior and diagnosis and repair plan suggested by both were same. So MasterTech is very objective. They were sent by home warranty and we chose to replace our 19 year-old unit instead of trying to repair any parts. Installation process was very thorough. We particularly liked working with Harold who worked very hard to make sure all was installed properly. He was patient answering questions and very good with explaining and navigating digital thermostats. We thank Harold for his great work!

Trust - a key success factor in every human interaction, including business transactions, especially when dealing with HVAC issues . When Matt, the owner, took the time to come visit me to check out my broken AC unit, I developed an instant trust with him. In fact, I had scheduled a visit with five other HVAC businesses to give me a quote, but after meeting Matt and his technician, Rocky, I signed the papers to buy a new HVAC unit from Master Tech. I cancelled the other appointments to get a quote. We would like to share our experience regarding the installation of American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning systems by Master Tech Service Corporation in June 2017. The company and personnel were Professional, Friendly, and Down to Earth from our first meeting through installation and follow up. From the beginning the Team evaluated our requirements, reviewed options, and provided recommendations on equipment and installation while providing pricing details all the way. There was no pressure, and our many questions were answered completely. The equipment installation was conducted professionally and as scheduled. Consideration was given to our comfort during installation as well as cleanup and discarding of old equipment. We were advised as to what was going on continually and an explanation as to equipment usage was provided as necessary. Also, not to be overlooked…. Master Tech will NOT disappear after installation … explanation of scheduled maintenance and follow up visits were outlined to keep our system operating efficiently for many years. Hats Off and Our Thanks go out to the entire Master Tech Team…….. From Matt, to Rocky, Harold, Robert, Wu and the entire office staff. WOULD we have Master Tech DO IT AGAIN...? A very knowledgeable technician came out a short time after our initial call. He diagnosed the problem right away and repaired one unit. He scheduled the installation crew to come out the following day.to install a new unit. The crew arrived early in the morning and were very professional and courteous. They installed a cover over the floor so as not to track dirt into our home. The crew worked quickly and efficiently to get cool air into our home. We could not have asked for more. My ac started blowing hot air on 8-3-17. Called my home warranty and this is the company they sent out. My time window was 12-3. He showed up at 2:40 which ok isn't bad. He came in with no tools AT ALL went and looked at my backyard unit. After a couple of minutes came in and said it went out. Asked what was wrong and he told me it's like a car they just go out. Asked if was covered under warranty and he said well kinda I would owe $1600-$1700 but otherwise it would be cause they got a cheap unit sent from over seas so would be a minimum of 2 weeks to get it but then said I could have a unit in 4 days if I wanted to upgrade to the $20k unit. Told him I couldn't afford that so he said he would order the cheap one but when he was telling me this he made comment about my last name and said well he didn't tell people his last name but his name was Richard Long. Then told me how he was ex military and they always goast name first so was called Long Dick. My 14 yr old daughter got to hear this! So I was beyond upset which I'm sure he could tell so he left. My husband got home about 4:30 and told him everything that had happened. He called the home warranty company to say he didn't want that guy back but also to see what our exact out of pocket expense would be. They told us it was denied cause of a "thorny bush growing into our unit which punctured the condenser that ruined the unit". Let me say I do have a bush on each side which is a sage bush and stays trimmed so no way that happened. My husband then called the guys cell phone that we had cause he had called trying to find our house. He said he never told the warranty that and would contact them to get it all straightened out. Never heard from the company again until today when we called and put in a different location in the prompt and said we wanted a new unit. But after we had been without ac for 36 hrs we let someone else come look at it. It was a wire that didn't have a good connection! 36 hours and no ac with having a so called professional come look at it and that's all it was!!! He wanted to make his money on the $20k unit! Even better when they did talk to my husband today the price dropped to $10k. That's when my husband informed them the unit worked great and it was such a simple fix! Didn't take 5 minutes to fix it. It's scary the type of people this company sends to your home!

I am very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with our company. After speaking with the service tech, which whom has been with our company for a long time, I believed things have been extremely misconstrued. First and foremost, our company does not make decisions for the warranty company on what they approve or do not approve. We are there to diagnose, then give our report to the warranty company to make the decision on coverage. The warranty company denied the claim, not Master Tech. Secondly, and I believe to be a very important detail, this homeowner was interested in purchasing a new air conditioning unit. An application with Wells Fargo for credit approval was filled out, but denied credit. We surely cannot be held responsible for anger related to a denied credit application. If the credit application would have been approved, would there even had been a complaint?

Technician (Michael) responded to the service call. Stated the outside condensor needed replacement due to leak. Left stating warranty company and there office would contact me about moving forward. Called there office leaving multiple voicemails for Bethany at ext. 307, never returned my calls. Warranty company called me on Thursday, 6/1/2017 and stated my share of non covered costs per contractor was $1,834.00. I immediately questioned for what. Per First American, MasterTech stated my house needed to be brought up to code and needed a disconnect, fuse breaker in service panel, capacitor for unit (which is installed on a new unit when shipped), an anchor kit for $300 when the cost is about $22.99 online, etc. Mind you, this was an already working system and has the code required electrical components. Basically, they were attempting to blantantly steal about $1,649.00 from me in BOGUS charges. Only $185.00 from the non covered costs was legitimate and that was for old unit haul off and reclaim of any Freon remaining post leak on existing unit. BUYER BEWARE! If they come to your house, ask for a line itemized charge breakdown and then get a second opinion. It was pretty sickening that a company would attempt to take advantage of a customer thinking they were none the wiser. This company is horrible, would keep a close eye on my wallet if you decide to do business with them!

[Member Name Removed], As HVAC work is regulated by each city and state, as well as the EPA and Dept. of Energy, there are numerous requirements that are mandatory when changing out a permanent fixture of the home. Despite many of the items you listed already being present, most of them have to be changed in order for the new unit to work properly. Since your current system is 13 years old and out of code, it is our responsibility to make the necessary changes, per code, liability, and safety. Additionally, I reviewed the copy of non-covered charges associated with the job, and the itemized list comes out to $1,235, not $1,834. However, if you would have purchased a better home warranty plan, that number would have been much lower. First American Home Buyers Protection is regulated through the Texas Real Estate Commission and Master Tech Service Corp is regulated through your City of Lancaster, the State of Texas, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Dept. of Energy. I'm sorry you feel the [Member Information Removed] you do, but all we are doing is upholding a contract through your warranty company and upholding the refrigeration laws through state and federal regulations.

I was determined not to get a new HVAC system. But, Robert Herrera showed us how much we needed one, how we could save on electricity, how we could save on the cost of a new unit, and what we could expect in the future from MasterTech to service our unit. Everything Robert told us he would do was done. The work was performed quickly, efficiently, cleanly. The installers were amazing. Polite, friendly, helpful. When the city inspector came to check the unit, he said MasterTech did an EXCELLENT job of installation and he passed it with flying colors. Went very well and professional. Owner personally contacted us and followed up on service. Senior tech was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of different options. Installation was scheduled and completed very quickly. Price was competitive.

When they came out to replace the unit they put something on the floor to protect the floors and to keep it from getting dirty. Everyone was very friendly and efficient and very hard-working and they answered any questions we had.
Description of Work: Our Air conditioner stopped working we called them out. They came when they were supposed to we als received a phone calll telling us when they were on their way over. Our unit was 17 years old and had a huge crack due to rust so we decided to go ahead and replace it. Rocky our service technician was great he talked to us explained everything to us and he stayed with us until we had all of our questions answered and even then he gave us his cell phone number so we could call him if we had any more which by the way we did call him several times.

water heater repair

David and an assistant from Master Tech arrived on time and looked at the water heater to determine what was wrong. They quickly found the problem and since the water heater was 13 years old, it was determined that replacing the unit would be best. We agreed and scheduled an appointment for the next day to get the work done. Once again, the techs arrived on time and got right to work. In addition to replacing the water heater, they had to make several additional updates/changes to meet current code compliance requirements. They did a great job and left the work area neat and clean. We are very pleased with the new water heater and appreciate the professionalism of everyone with whom we interacted. We received e mail confirmation of appointment times and a courtesy call to let us know when the technicians were on their way. Excellent job by Master Tech Service Corp!
