Master Craft Pools

Tilers and pave stone workers very good. Hard time with the plumbers for new drains, no calls responded to, punctuality and communication very poor. We are happy with end product, but had to do a lot of micro managing.

We purchased a 1962 Ranch-style house in May 2011. With the move, we got a box of contacts, receipts, manuals, and warranties for the different systems and features of the house. Included in the box was a file on the pool. A copy of the original contract and blueprints were included. The contract and "lifetime warranty" were on the old-fashioned thermal fax paper that immediately starts to fade. We could not read the ultra-fine print of the "LIFETIME WARRANTY". We were interviewing several contractors for the repair, and wanted to give the original company an opportunity to bid. Ted Radko arrived on time, as scheduled, and was escorted to the back yard to show him the pool. He remembered installing this pool in 1994, as it had a unique sheer-descent water feature that he claims to have designed. I had explained TWICE to him that we had a copy of the LIFETIME WARRANTY, but could not read it. He immediately got defensive, and said that the warranty was for the original owners only. (WE CAN ACCEPT THIS FACT.) He said "would you warranty a 16-year old car?" I again calmly told him that we could not read the warranty, and were simply asking if the warranty was still in effect. Again, he regurgitated the 16-year old car diatribe. I told him he did not have to get all cantankerous, cranky, and uppity over the question, and he turned around and left. No further comments or communication from, or about this so-called professional.

The work was completed on time and it looked really great in the backyard until about 6 months later when we noticed a crack in the plaster. The pool service technician had also told us we were losing water so there was a leak somewhere. We called Ted out to show him the problem - this was July 2009. We agreed to follow up in September to schedule the work. We called repeatedly starting in September. He would say - the schedule is filled up - we'll get to it in a couple of weeks. Finally he stopped answering our calls so we had our builder call. He stopped answering his calls as well. We called another pool contractor who did a leak test and then fixed the leak. We still have huge cracks and the tile is popping off because they improperly installed it. We have gotten repair bids that are almost as much as we paid just a little over 2 years ago to remodel the pool. I have nothing nice to say about this guy - he's the reason pool contractors have a bad reputation.

Two months over what they said. Put in travertine for decking and it has big spots on it that are holes someone filled. The gravel under the travertine has washed all away and did so immediately. The owner would not respond to my calls or when he did he would hang up on me. He only came out to the job one time. They did have two owners but they have split. The one that left is the good one!!!!!

They are very reliable. They do what they say they're going to do when they say they'll do it. It was a very pleasant experience.
