Said they'd show up between 8:30 and 9 AM. Arrived at 9:15. They did the work I asked. They were mostly done at 11:30, and what was left to do was to put in the plastic box that encloses the valves and gives access to them, and put the dirt back in surrounding it. That took them an hour, which seemed to me far too long. One of the two plumbers left for 20 minutes to go buy a part that wasn't on their big truck, but they still charged me for two plumbers for 3 hours, even though the time between their arrival and departure was 2 hours and 45 minutes. They also didn't rebuild the valve system like my old one. They made it more complicated - raised the level of the valves from the supply pipe without asking me first, and said they did it to make it more convenient for me to operate the valves. I expressed a concern that they raised the pipe above the frost line, and questioned whether the water might freeze during low temps, and the plumber dismissed my concern, saying that it doesn't get that cold here. They routed the valves to be just about six inches below ground level; the supply pipe is about 12 inches down. So, I suppose time will tell, and if he's wrong, it could be a huge and expensive problem for me if the pipe ruptures. It's possible they made it more complicated to charge me more money, but I can't say for sure. I'm a little irritated he made that decision on his own without consulting me first, as I had just told them to redo what was there before.

They are very prompt, very good, and very professional. Several of them had been here and they were very good to come and help me with a particular problem. I talked to the guy that owns the thing, he answers the phone. I've had a good experience with them and I don't think I will use any other plumbing persons. They are very clean. They come and they put little dirty zone if they go walk in your house. I think that's important when you get a plumber in especially when they had to do outside work.

It went as planned. Had to work around the weather, schedules of everyone and the city inspectors.

The experience was bizarre. Hard to realize that this person owns his own company!!! See above for details!!! I called the friend that recommended him and she no longer gives his name out to her real estate clients.

l arrived home from a trip to find that the floor around my toilet was slightly wet. I flushed the toilet and saw water dripping from the tank. I am member of a group of about 235 families in my neighborhood and they recommended this plumber. I called and left a message and quickly received a phone call back and appt was scheduled for the next day. Two workers showed up, walked into my bathroom and immediately told me that I needed a new toilet. There was no effort to repair my current toilet. He explained that it was an old toilet and others are more efficient. I was fine with that. He said that they could get a toilet and install it, but they mark up the toilets they install. He said if you want you could go to Home Depot and get your own, then they would return to install it. I have a 5 month old, so I asked how much they mark it up. He said 40-60$. I thought that was worth it, given the fact that it is difficult with the baby. The two men were there for about 45 min prepping the area, left and returned with a new toilet about one hour later. They installed it, took approximately 45 min. I was then handed a bill for 635.00. I about started crying. I am not dramatic, but I was overwhelmed. I had looked at prices of toilets online, and could not imagine what this total included. As the guys were leaving I followed them out to the truck to get the model numbers of the toilet. I googled them, and the toiled was marked up 120.00. I was charged for 2 hours of service for a total of 270.00$. I work in a customer dependent field, and so I thought I would give the owner/manager a call to at least get an explanation. I spoke with Karl, the owner. I told him where I got his information and that I wanted to get his explanation before I posted about my experience. I realize that this statement immediately put him on the defense, and if I could go back and do it over, I would state my situation different. I really don't think it would have helped. His response was "are you threatening me?". I said no, I just want an explanation. I also realize that I should have done my due diligence, and asked more questions up front. Knowing my mistakes along the way and admitting them to Carl, I was thinking that I would at least get an apology for the plumbers not being more informative up front, or more accurate about the mark up of the toilet. He told me that he is not the type that thinks the customer is always right. He asked what it would take to make me happy? I did not have an answer, because I did not necessarily want to be refunded, although it would have been nice, I just wanted to understand the situation better. After calculating this fancy toilet seat that he put on, and the difference in what I thought would be the mark up, he said "would 20$ make you happy?". I told him I guess and he said he would send it to me. I never received the 20$. I never complained on the website where I got his name. I had to let the experience pass for a couple of months, because I was appalled at the service and the lack of respect from the owner. Maybe it is normal to charge a full hours worth of work when the plumbers are not working the entire time. At my job I get paid only the time I am at work, working. If I leave 15 min early, I only get paid for 45 min. I hope this helps. I am not a negative person. I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and thought maybe he had a bad day, but when I saw the other posting about the owner, and business practice I had to share. If you chose to use this plumber, ask lots of questions up front. I didn't and I regret it.

I have been using Mai Plumbing for several years to fix small plumbing issues in my home. I have always thought they were a decent customer service oriented company until today. I called Carl, the owner, yesterday to ask him to send someone to look at a leak that was coming through my ceiling and an electrical outlet on an outside wall that was leaking water. Two men were sent today to look at the problems. They were here for less than an hour and told me that the leak in my ceiling was an Air Conditioning problem and the electrical outlet leaking was an issue with my gutter. I was then given an invoice for the $140.41 service fee. I was shocked that as a long standing customer I would be charged the full service fee for what had been done, which was absolutely nothing. Even if I hadn't been a long standing customer, I would've been shocked to receive an invoice for the workers doing absolutely nothing. I run a small business myself and understand the importance of service fees and why they are charged, however, there are certain situations where customer service comes before making a dime. Good customer service leads to a better business with loyal clients.Continuing with what happened today...I called Carl to tell him that I was charged for no work being performed with hopes that he would apologize and offer not to charge me for today. He could have done this in a professional manner and then reminded me that any future service would have to be charged a full service fee even if no work is performed. Instead of handling the situation professionally, as you would think the owner of a business would do, he became irritated when I called and questioned the situation. He was very unprofessional and rude to a long standing client. He actually said : "you have put no consideration into what the past two days have been like for me", to which I said, "not my problem". He then went on to mock me by saying that even if he tried to work with me on the price that I was the sort of person that would be "p*****" anyway. The conversation went on and finally ended with me telling him not to worry because I was no longer his client.Totally uncalled for and unprofessional. I would not recommend Mai Plumbing to anyone. Carl seems to forget that plumbers in this town are a dime a dozen and I will have no problem finding a new one.

We have used Carl’s company for going on 12 years and have never been dissatisfied with their work. His plumbers are always courteous and always get the job right the first time. They always return calls and are always on time for appointments. I called them and was able to get same day service. The plumbers arrived and discovered that the leak was actually coming from inside the tank dripping down to the valve. They fixed that problem and also noticed that the toilet was not secure. Asked if I wanted that fixed and proceeded to reseat after my approval. The sink was tighten up and repaired in minutes.

Great job. Fast, efficient, no gimmicks.

They are always awesome. I would give them an A. They are very fair and honest.

Called Carl at Mai's plumbing and he was quite professional. They came out as promised. Rates were in line or slightly lower than others in the market. Hector and Moses were very nice but also very efficient. I also had them look at another shower head that had low water pressure. They suggested replacing the shower head and offered to do so for a pretty low price. It worked! I felt I got great service. This was my 2nd time using them and I will use them again.

Very well. When the pipe burst, I called Karl, the owner. I had turned off the water and we were fine. We had no water damage. He was busy helping other clients with more serious problems. But he didn't forget about us. He called a few days later to schedule a time to come out and fix it. They did. And did a great job. They had to cut into a wall. You can't tell they were here. We have used them many times. They are awesome!!!

They were good. Their prices were reasonable. We had a misunderstanding and they came back and fixed the problem within hours.

After doing some research, we felt that their prices were very reasonable. They are very honest and dependable, that's why we stuck with them. They did a great job.

Everything went pretty well. The price came in less than what they had told me. They did the job fairly quickly, and I called them on a holiday. I was pleased with the work. The workers were clean and professional.

Ok, not totally satisfied, but OK.

Overall, I thought they were just excellent! I have used them before for other jobs and I really like their professionalism. Their rates are cheap too. There wasn't anything I didn't like.
