All the work was done fantastic. It's just the details when you're spending that much money. I felt like, for example, there are some things in the fire pit standards that were not addressed properly.
Description of Work: Whole back yard hardscape. It'a a patio stone work and a fire bed and a design.

After hiring someone who claimed to be a landscaper, and spending (correction, wasting) $3,000; we realized we needed someone who would implement our vision and not their vision. Marc is the person for that type of plan. He listened to our likes and dislikes and asked questions to learn more about our vision. He drafted a plan and was open to tweaking it, while we too learned what our real likes and dislikes were. We broke it down into 3 Phases that would be more affordable. Our 1st Phase involved extending our patio out into an entertainment area, yet still functional. We added an arbor with lighting on one side. We left the other side open, as we like sun. He recommened travertine which is absolutely beatiful. The patio extension includes an integrated flower bed with our favorite colors and low maintenance plants. He brought in top quality soil, removed existing grass (transplanting it to back of yard as a bonus), re-routing the sprinkler system, adjusting the drainage with underground downspots to ensure no water pooling near foundation, and explained the care and maintenance of every plant (as we plan on maintaining the beds). He was onsite supervising all the work. Something we greatly appreciated. If we had ANY quesions or comments (which i tend to have a lot of), he responded professionally, respectfully, and to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Marc and will be using him for Phase II and III.
Description of Work: Drafted detailed 3 phase landscaping plan for our 3/4 acrea lot. Implemented Phase I. Phase II and III to follow.

We had major drainage and runoff issues in our driveway and front yard. After talking to some basic landscapers, we realized we needed someone who could create detailed plans, as we were involved with an attorney and the City. Marc came out to do a quote and quickly impressed us with his knowledge and understanding of our problem and how to solve it. We thought "Finally! Someone who gets it!". We hired him and he came out and shot our yard to get all of the proper measurements. LandPatterns then created a site inventory analysis plan, the driveway/yard grading plan, and a landscape plan. We paid ~$2,600 for the development of the 3 detailed plans (including all of the on-site work to obtain the measurements). The landscaping was done in December 2010 and looks AMAZING! We had neglected our front yard due to the drainage issues - figured it wasn't worth it to make the yard look nice since our driveway turned into a lake every time it rained and we had sediment issues from runoff from across the street. Anyway, Marc's crew was friendly, prompt, and very professional. They showed up on time every morning and completed the work efficiently, quietly, and with good quality. They created two stone block walls for us since our yard isn't level and planted trees, plants, and shrubs that will give us color year round but not require much maintenance. The irrigation specialist LandPattern uses also came out to fix our sprinklers and gave my husband tips on how to reduce clogging of the sprinkler heads. Finally, LandPatterns is currently managing the rest of the project and overseeing the concrete and asphalt subcontractors who are fixing the grade of our driveway, street, and our yard. So far, they also are doing a wonderful job. Marc collected 3 bids (both concrete and asphalt) and reviewed the choices with us so we could make a selection. He has handled everything and it has been great! The total project (including subcontractor work) is ~$32,000 of which about $11,000 is actual LandPatterns work (landscaping and project management fee). Marc and his team are total professionals and we will use them again in the future and HIGHLY recommend them to everyone. They are the ones to use, especially if you need more than a basic landscaper. If you need anything related to grading design, drainage design, and other landscape items that require a more detailed analysis, they are the ones to use! As mentioned earlier, we were working with the City to get buyoff on this plan before the work started (and permits issued) since we were dealing with the street and another municipality across the street. Marc worked well with our environmental attorney and the City transportation, storm water, and engineering departments to ensure our money was not spent in vain.
Description of Work: In order to address draininage and runoff issues, we first hired LandPatterns in May 2010 to develop three detailed plans - site inventory analysis, yard and driving grading, and landscaping. We paid ~$2,600 for the development of the 3 detailed plans (including all of the on-site work to obtain the measurements). We next hired LandPatterns in December 2010 to perform the landscaping work - building of two stone walls, installation of an underground drain to carry water from a gutter under the sidewalk and to the other side of the yard, fixing some of the sprinklers, planting, mulching, etc. This work cost us ~$8,800. Finally, we are currently working with LandPatterns (January 2011) as they serve as project managers to implement the driveway and grading plans. They did all of the work to collect bids from concrete and asphalt subcontractors and helped us to select the best one. They are overseeing all of the work being performed to redo our driveway, perform street work, and regrade our yard. Their project management fee is ~$2,000 (percentage of total cost of all work performed). They worked with our environmental attorney and the City to ensure all parties understood and approved the work in advance of obtaining permits and beginning work (long story - very long, drawn out battle we had been dealing with for 2 years before hiring LandPatterns).
