PERFECT!!! Wow--my husband and I couldn't be happier with Janet and her product. Janet was with us throughout the whole project. She had done plantation shutters in my daughter's home and that is where we met Janet and saw how how she ran her business. Dealing with her was like "the good days". She came to our home and helped us determine what would look the best. We gave her a can of our trim color and she matched it perfectly and we approved it when a sample was sent to us. She called to make sure we approve. Now they are installed and are beautiful. She adjusted the installment date to fit with our window washing company's schedule. Her team that installed them was very careful to be neat and tidy as well as professional. We could tell they really knew what they were doing. When the installers finished my husband got on the phone, told Janet how much we appreciated everything she did and paid our bill. (Just like "the good old days." Description of Work: Janet was great to work with! She installed wooden shutters for most of our rooms. She was very professional and listened carefully to what we were looking for. She made great suggestions throughout the house. One product came back a slightly wrong color. I called her and she took care of it IMMEDIATELY. We are very pleased w/the quality of her work.

Description of Work: we moved into a home that had some windows shutters installed and knew we wanted to complete the house with the same shutters. Janet quickly understood what we wanted and how to match the trim color. She also helped us decide on fabric shades for a large bath window and powered shades for French doors. Her office was great at communicating the timelines for install and her installation team was very thorough and professional. One shutter was not moving correctly and the installer made a note to replace, which was done. Janet's prices were reasonable (I saw what the cost of the previously installed shutters were). I was pleased with her services and would definitely recommend her company.

I have used Janet Pool Blinds for many years, and have referred several people to her, until now. This is an example of how a horrible attitude will lose business in the long-term. Reading some of the other reviews, I guess I am no longer surprised. The situation: In December, upon inspection of our new home (of which we contracted Janet to install $9,000 worth of blinds and shutters), it was determined that there was water damage on several of our window sills. Three of the damaged sills were in the location of our plantation shutters. With that in mind, the shutters had to come down and we had to coordinate with Janet's office taking the shutters down and then re-installing them after the sills had been re-installed. Due to some weather delays and other issues with my builder, the shutters could not be re-installed until January 27. On the 27th, the shutters were re-installed by Janet's contract installers just fine. Fast forward to today. Although, I did not receive an invoice from Janet's team until February 26 (last week), I got a call today from Janet, herself. The thought did occur to me that I hadn't received an invoice in a month from Janet, however, I had been traveling on business quite a bit and I hadn't had an opportunity to reach out to them. When I received the invoice on the 26th, I responded within 3 hours and told her office people that I would call them on Monday (today), March 2 to remit payment. Although, today wasn't over and I had planned on calling them this afternoon, I received a call from Janet. Janet started BERATING me about my "lack of payment", telling me I lacked integrity and was shocked that I hadn't paid. Keep in mind, I have spent well over $18,000 with her company over the years and have referred several great clients to her, and then she berates me over $300 (which, incidentally, was outrageous for the work involved with that), which if she would have waited another 5 hours, she would have received, without the need for treating a long-time customer like a child. Bottom line, she has lost my business and I would caution anyone looking to do business with her that if you "get sideways" with Janet, you will be subject to her berating, criticism and lack of respect. To be fair, her work over the years has been solid. Her price-point is much higher than average, but she does give you great quality. It's just not worth having to deal with someone who would berate you over $300. Three hundred dollars, as compared to the thousands and thousands of dollars I have sent her, without incident. Utterly ridiculous and buyer be warned.

Based on a referral from a Decorator, Wynn from Janet Pool Shutters came to my home to measure 7 windows for shutters. Some were to be pained and the others stained. We looked over stained samples and she helped us select a color that was close to my window sill. They later mailed me a stained and painted sample to approve. I approved the painted sample, but the stained sample was much too dark. They later sent me another sample. This was much better and I approved it. The painted shutters came in looking good, and installed. The problem was the stained shutters! They were too dark! I told the installers to take them down and send them back because they did not match the sample that I approved and was significantly darker than the window sill. The shutters were as dark as the original stain sample that I did not approve of. I had the correct sample cut in half and sent back with the installers along with a piece of stained molding from my home, so they could have a larger color match to work with. I did keep 1 of the 4 stained shutters for a room that did not have a window sill, so it did not have to match anything specific. 3 of the others were sent back. I get a call from Wynn basically telling me that the sample that I approved did not match the piece of molding I sent with them. To my eyes, it match pretty well. I told her that what did not match, was the shutters they tried to install! I then pointed out that it did not matter if the sample I approved match the molding piece I sent (which it did), the point is that the shutters they were trying to install were way darker than the sample or the molding! They needed to be done lighter! She then said they were going to attempt to lighten the current dark shutters! I told her that I even know that you can not lighten a piece of wood that has a dark stain and make it lighter. She said that they have a process call and quot;Water Washingand quot; that will get it lighter. So I said fine, go ahead. I just want the shutters to match the sample that I approved of. So weeks later, they come back to install the 3 shutters. They don't match my sample again! They basically tried to sand off some of the stain, but it was still really dark! I told the installers to take it back. I then get an email from Wynn telling me she looked at the sample and the shutters herself and that they matched. Her shop manager informed her that they can not do a Strike Off any more exact than that. That stain is not like paint because of the variations of the wood. She is sorry that they are not as exact as I would like, but trust her, there is NO WAY ANYONE CAN MATCH what I approved any more perfectly. So they are offering me a refund on the 3 shutters. But of course, I never paid for the full balance since they were not installed, so I actually owed them a balance for the ones I kept. I was very frustrated since this has been going on for 3 months and now I only have half the shutters that I ordered. I sent a pictures of the shutters they attempted to install next to the sample of stain I refused and the sample that I approved of next to it to the decorator that did the referral. She then contacted the blind company. I was told the picture was very helpful, which is really kind of ridiculous, since they have the shutters and the samples at their shop and that Wynn stated in the email she and the shop manager compared them. I got a phone call from Wynn saying that she spoke to Janet Pool, and they they should never have attempted to redo the shutters that were too dark (like I said), and that they don't like to give up, and that they would like the opportunity to have another chance to do it right. I debated since I wanted the shutters, but at the same point, I was constantly being told that I was wrong for months, when I wasn't. So I informed them that I have decided not to continue my business with them, because in their email I was basically told that I was wrong, that even they said NO ONE COULD MATCH the samples that I approved MORE PERFECTLY! And that they DID give up, because they didn't ever come to my home to check out the samples and the shutter and try to work with me. They just wanted to give me my and quot;refundand quot; and walk away. I told her that I actually felt offended by that email, that they tried to push the blame on me, and that I was asking the impossible by ACTUALLY EXPECTING shutters to arrive to match a sample that they created for me! I said that I did give them another chance, and they tried to cut corners by trying to fix something that wasn't fixable. I would just like to get an invoice for the remaining balance for the items that I did accept, and we can be done.

When Janet Pool originally installed our plantation shutters in 2006, she brought quality materials, good pricing, professional installation and promises of great customer service. We were very pleased with the finished product. The shutters put the finishing touch on our newly built home. I have had shutters in the past that were thinner and less substantial, so I was pleased with both the stained and painted products she offered. When the hail storm of 2011 barreled through, Janet came to the rescue with repairs and rebuilds to damaged shutters. She was absolutely wonderful to work with, over-delivered and came through on her earlier promises of great customer service. I would highly recommend her company and will buy all of my window treatments from her as long as she is selling shutters and blinds. She even came out to our previous home and did what seemed to be a ridiculously small repair job on our blinds when we were ready to put our house on the market. No job is too big or too small for her. Give her a call. You'll be glad you did!

This woman was recommended to me by a client of mine. She said this lady was so reasonable compared to other companies and was satisfied with her work. Well, little did I know that my client was a nut case, a cheapskate and it turns out every person she ended-up recommending to me was terrible. There is always a reason people are cheaper than everybody else- "You get what you pay for." First, it started with our blinds. Janet Pool comes over at first, but then you never see her again. When the blinds were installed I noticed they were cut too short on the sides. The sales lady that oversaw the installation said "No, that's the way they are suppose to be." I measured and called another blind company and they "were" too short . Next, came the delivery of our custom stained plantation shutters. This company obviously had no experience dealing with stain. The stain was not the correct color and there were white spots where the tilt rod was (they obviously had not stained from behind the tilt rod). This time the delivery/installation guys just kept staring at them and acting like they had no idea what I was talking about. I called and talked to a guy, whose name now escapes me (I think it was Marcus), and I guess he was like her right-hand man. He had the shutters picked up. They were redone and redelivered- still not correct (now it just got worse, because they tried to correct over the existing stain). We played this game a couple of more times and then their shop burned down with our shutters in them. I looked on the bright side and thought well at least they can start over from scratch. A sales lady came over to make sure they had the right stain. They made samples. I approved them. I actually was stupid enough to ordered an additional shutter (the top piece to go above the shutters), because I thought since they were starting over, this would be the time to do it so the stain would match. Well, I get a call from Marcus(?) saying he had not ordered the piece, yet, and they had already done the shutters. He didn't realize I wanted them at the same time. Really?!? I was still stupid enough to go through with the order on this piece, trusting they would get it right. We finally get our shutters in April, not the color I had selected and they did not match with each other and they had an effect called "orange peel"- they were rough like an orange not smooth. I found out from a "true professional" that when they spray the varnish on too closely you get this effect. By this time, the "famous" Janet Pool makes an appearance. This was the only time I have seen or talked to her since the initial order back in October/November (I can't quite be sure of the exact date, because it has been so long.) I try to show her and she is not interested, she starts screaming at me, telling me she is done with the whole thing, this is it, they are putting the shutters in and leaving (this was great- considering she never once spoke to me on the phone or tried to come by and see what was wrong the entire few months this whole process was going on). My husband tells her to leave, basically throwing her out of our house. I tell her we will just see her in court. Luckily for her, plus she knew, I was very ill at the time and I was never able to take on such a project of trying to sue somebody. Also, my husband definitely did not have the time, so she lucked out and we were stuck with almost $8,000 worth of poor window treatments. All that makes me happy with the situation is I know we will be moving soon and it will not be my problem anymore! Plus, now that I have joined Angie's List I can tell more people my story, try to warn them and save them the same heartache!

I called to set an appointment to get estimates. Ms. Pool did return the call right away, however, the first thing she asked was how I heard about her because she only took referrals. That was somewhat of a turn off for me because you don't tell potential customers that you only do work by referrals. I told her that I was a member of Angie's list and that was how I got her information. I explained that I am in the process of remodeling my home, but doing it room by room and looking to install shutters throughout the house. She told me that she would call back to schedule an appointment, but I guess since I was not going to replace all the windows at one time, she was not interested. I guess if you don't have a lot of money to spend at one time, she is not interested. Very sad....
