. It is probably going to cost $6000 or more.Carrol Johns Flooring has professional salesmanship. My sales person was Don Potash. They have multiple sales people. He was very responsive. He was extremely flexible and accommodating as far not only scheduling but also responding to my E-mails and voice mails. He is very accessible. I am also going through a process of testing the moisture content of the concrete slab, with some calcium chloride kits. These have to be put down on the floor for three days. Today I would have to return those. They would then take it somewhere they can measure the moisture in the concrete slab. Depending on that number they would have to do some preparation on the slab. We are facing some problem with our flooring. It was probably the responsiveness and professionalism of the sales person that made me go with them. It was the fair price. I think I got at least seven bids from different companies. Half of the bids that I received were from Angies List and the other half of them from personal referrals and information. It was all a combination of sale price, the responsiveness of the sales person, and I would have to say that they may not be the most expert knowledgeable, highest quality that I might be able to get out there but I had to weigh those multiple factors. When they E-mailed the bid estimates it is very high level. They do a lot of bundling. I think that is more related to their customers. I tend to ask what most people don?t ask. I tend to be more detailed. I ask for what brand of gravel and grout they will be using. I ask for certificate of insurance, I am asking for additional referrals, specifics about their crew, employees, and subcontractors. Asking them how long each of them has been with them, asking a lot of details. I am asking about their sub floor preparation process, whether they wash their concrete. I ask them to break down and itemize the bid based upon furniture moving, appliance moving that kind of stuff. I get into the nitty gritty of things. The tile that out our interior designer picked is a very expensive tile. This is not a cosmetic remodel. We are not doing this by choice. Three months ago our existing kitchen tiles, we being the second owners, this is the original title since 16 years ago when the house was built. A whole two rows of kitchen floor tiles just buckled up and tented in the middle of the night. So for past several months we have been going through the process of trying to find out why that should have happened. Having two different plumbing companies, leak detection, insurance, structural engineers warrant people, talking to grout manufactures. It has been a royal pain. It is going to be a challenging job. I would consider them for future bids.

As well as I could have expected, with minimal disruption to our home and lives.

The repair team arrived early-- very punctual! In a previous phone call with Dan (a manager?), I was informed that the brass transition strips between the carpet and the tile were antiquated and should not be there--that they would be removed during the carpet stretching. Initially, the repair team did not remove the strips. I let them know that Dan said they were no longer used in installations. The repair team responded very professionally, removing the strips they'd already re-attached (post stretch) immediately and re-attached the carpet with tack strips (in the transition areas from carpet to tile). So far, it seems the 3 transition areas are holding well. (Note: one of the transition areas (tack strip) seems a tiny bit lumpy, but okay overall).

We actually got somebody else that could do everything that we needed, so we went with them instead. The people who came out from Carrol Johns flooring were very prompt and courteous. When I told them that we had selected another company because we actually needed more work done than what they would be able to do, they were very polite and said that if there’s anything we would want them to do, to let them know, and they would be glad to do the work for us. They were very kind about their comments and prompt on time and everything. Everything was great. I would use their services again in the future.

The price was very good and the installation team was fantastic. The process of having new flooring installed in almost every room of your home can be miserable. However, this group made it a positive experience. The products that they used were of the best quality and the installation went seamless. I would recommend Carrol Johns to anyone looking for flooring.

Ripped out vinal flooring, leveled floor, layed down tile, grouted, sealed. Took three days overall. They moved all heavy appliances.

We chose not to go with him. We liked the company and what they presented. The salesman was very pleasant but he was a little talkative. He was a little too much. He was the first one we talked to. There was a big contrast between him and the salesman from the company we used. He wasn't bad but it was different. He was prompt and provided good information but we chose to go with another company. We might possibly use them in the future.

They charged me for the material and services. They were professional and on time. There were a couple of hiccups but I believe it's all in the recovery. Everything went wonderful and they were all very, very good to deal with. They were very prompt and the owner Dean is awesome and very efficient.

In a word: fantastic! This was our first experience using Angie's list, and it was great. I hope all future experiences go so smoothly. We picked Carrol Johns because of the Angie's List Super Service Award and the reviews. We particularly liked that they did the plumbing work (removing toilets) themselves and did not have to worry about scheduling a plumber or having another sub-contractor do the work. We called Carrol Johns and spoke with Ken O'Brien on the phone. We originally were looking at laminate flooring, but Ken quickly talked us out of that for wet areas. (Now that we have the tile installed, I'm very glad we went with tile over laminate). We liked tile, but didn't like the maintenance of the grout. He suggested using epoxy grout which is very stain resistant and does not require any sealing, ever. With this knowledge he directed us to a Dal-Tile show room. We thought we had found a very nice reddish tile there and gave him the information. We were concerned about it matching our dark red wall paper in our master bathroom. He came by the house with the tile we saw at the showroom and several others that were similar. We also got to meet Don that day. It was great to hear both of their input. They were both very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We selected a lovely brownish tile that matched our wall paper much better. We liked the tile he brought much better than anything else we had seen so we were extremely pleased with the service. It was very nice to have the tile at the house and be able to discuss and get questions answered right away. We did not "shop around" as we felt very comfortable with Ken and Carrol Johns. We had previously did some pricing with Home Depot for the laminate and the price was almost exactly the same for tile with epoxy grout. Also, we just had a lousy experience with Home Depot plumbing and didn't want to repeat that again... The installers really are top notch. Carrol Johns should make sure not to lose them! They were friendly, clean, and obviously took great pride in their work. I had no idea epoxy grout was so labor intensive. One poor installer spent most of the day just in the master bath room and closet doing the grout, but wow was it worth it. The look is flawless. The installers also had a lot of cutting as we had the tile installed in a diamond pattern. Again there were no bad cuts and it looks flawless. They were very careful when removing the toilets and nothing was damaged. They were also careful not to get our carpets dirty which was hard as it as there was ice and snow outside. After the job was done they caulked everything and even offered to put our washer, dryer, and freezer back in the laundry room. We are extremely pleased with their professionalism and hard work. We definitely got our money's worth on this project and will use Carrol Johns in the future to rip out more of our carpet and install hard wood.

12/07/2010 -- After thinking hard about the top three carpet installers on Angie's List, I decided to call Carrol Johns Flooring. It was very easy to set up a convenient appointment. Don called the day before to confirm and offered to change the time, if necessary. We also talked about which type of carpet I was interested in so he could bring the appropriate samples. He showed up on time and was very easy to talk to and very willing to work within my budget. He was also very patient because it took me longer to make up my mind between two carpets and three colors than it took him to measure the space and work up the price. In the end I used his opinion to settle on something. --------------------- 12/28/2010 -- Signed and submitted the proposal. Took advantage of their 10% off coupon for Angie's List members. Woo hoo! Was given an arrival estimate of between 9 am and 10 am on my day of choice. --------------------- 01/18/2011 -- Three young men showed up at 9:12 am and got right to work. My husband and I had already ripped out the old carpet and padding so that we could clean and disinfect the subfloor. It took them an hour and a half to do the installation and clean up. Not only did they vacuum the carpet afterward, but they also swept the hall between the bedroom and the front door. They even offered to move furniture back into the room for us (which we declined since we don't really have any yet). They took the old carpet and padding away with them to dispose of it. They were friendly, efficient, professional, and tidy, and did a very nice installation job. I will have no problem using this company again when I decide to get more of the flooring replaced.

They were a very good company but their bid was a little higher than the other service provider although they were not expensive. They were wonderful. They were not unreasonable with their price but a tiny bit more than the budget. Their quote was for $5000. They took quite a bit of an effort, a lot of time and care. They were extremely complimentary on the home and were definitely engaged. They were treating it as if it was their own home while giving the bid. I hated it as it made me sad because I had a budget and could not use their services. They were very friendly and did a great job in giving the estimate. They were an old company and would do a good service considering the number of years that they had put in the business. The reports that I read about them online was good and they had an excellent histogram. If it were not for the cost, I would have definitely used them. Their representative that came out was honestly a seasoned person in the business as he knew as to what he was talking about. Their customer service and call back time was amazing. They knew as to what I wanted and they wanted to please me as I was a member on Angie?s List. I was very happy with them. They seemed like an outstanding company. However, I went with another service provider and I hope they do a good job as we get what we pay for. Honestly, I have been nervous about it.

Carrol John's made the renovation of the first level of my home very easy. There was a large amount of square footage that needed work and the work was completed in only three days, with the entire first floor looking amazing! The sales rep, Chris Matthews, was very professional and scheduled/completed the work as he stated he would. The overall experience was great and I will be using them again in a few months to complete the renovations of the flooring on the second level of my home. I would definitely recommend their service to anyone that is looking to update or change current flooring of any kind. Their prices beat all other quotes I received and the selection of different styles in wood/ceramic/carpet was phenomenal. Kevin Klahn, the account exec., arrived as scheduled to give me and estimate and brought a group of tiles for me to choose from. I had told him ahead of time what type I was interested in, and he brought an appropriate selection. The work was scheduled at my convenience. Javier and Elmer worked from 11:00 AM to almost 9:00 PM in order to finish the job in one day. They were both very polite and did a nice job.

Did a beautiful job. Great communication with me during whole process. Ken OBrien worked hard to find exact match to existing hardwood flooring for my entry way. Flooring had been installed by previous owner and now looks professionally installed after repairs. Looks great. Carpet installation is great as well. I highly recommend.

My overall experience was excellent with Carrol Johns Flooring! I was so pleased with their level of service. I had heard about them from one of the home garden shows. Kevin Klahn was the sales person who helped me and was very professional. He was able to match the floors exactly to my wood cabinets. The installation went really well. Everything was completed on time. Their prices were the best from all my comparisons and they had exactly what I was looking for. I plan to use them again to install new carpet in the bedrooms. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

Recently my wife and I contacted Carrol Johns Flooring to arrange an estimate for installing new carpeting and tile in our home in preparation for sale. We specifically asked for a gentleman named Don Potash because he had been recommended to us by our Realtor. When Don arrived to do the estimate, (on time, I might add) I was impressed with his expertise and friendly demeanor. He recognized that we were preparing the house for sale, and provided valuable insight on carpet grades and tile selection. While others might try to add on extras, Don actually made excellent suggestions on how we might get more value for our improvements. Choosing Carrol Johns to do the work was an easy decision. In fact, Don?s was our first estimate and after he left that day, I cancelled the subsequent estimate appointments. It is also my experience when doing business with contractors, that once the contract is signed, the salesperson is seldom seen again. That was certainly not the case with Don. He was always in contact with us, either by phone or by e-mail, and once the work began he showed up each day to monitor the progress and answer any questions we had. Speaking of the crew, I?d like to commend Vincente and Paco for their masterful work. These two men did a remarkable job installing the carpet throughout the house, then did an equally remarkable job putting the tile in the master bathroom. They were exceptionally hard workers, meticulous in their attention to detail, and left the house immaculate. They were at all times friendly and polite and were a pleasure to work with. I regret that we didn?t have this work done long ago. The new flooring transformed the house and it was a very positive experience for us, largely because of the efforts of these three individuals. I would certainly use Carrol Johns again, and will confidently recommend your team to anyone desiring quality flooring installed by true professionals.
