Emmanuel was able to handle the various tasks I threw at him competently and efficiently.

Quickly and smoothly despite the rain (in July in Dallas, go figure).

Mr. van Hulst was referred to me by his father (who also in on Angie's list). I sent over pictures of the holes along with an approximate size. I had narrowed down my search to three equally well-referenced handymen services but chose Mr. van Hulst as he came across as polite and straightforward and the price was within the ball park of my expectation. We had also decided that he would get the materials which he had indicated would be around $25 (actually came to about $18). He came promptly at the scheduled time (10:00 AM) and indicated that it would take about 2 hours. I like watching experts do their job as I learn a bit and I can also figure how good they truly are. I could see he was good at his work and had a nice professional approach including measuring twice before cutting :-). He closed out the two holes, smoothed over the surfaces, cleaned up very nicely and other than the slightly damp drywall, I wouldn't have known he was there. Very professional, very personable, and very reasonable. I would consider him first for any handyman jobs.

So we together ordered it and when it arrived he installed it. I thought he was very inventive to do all that preparation. It took him longer than he had thought but still would not charge me more than he had told me. Van Hulst is a very, nice, competent young man.

This is my second experience with this provider. On the first visit he extended some wall shelving and mounted a ceiling medallion. I did not find him on Angie's list, but he was recommended highly by the neighborhood locksmiths who had worked with him on projects previously. We are doing an extensive renovation on an old house, and are quite particular. We have been extremely pleased with Jay's work so far. These have included work on electrical, carpentry, and masonry installation. He is very thoughtful about how he approaches a project--open to suggestions and has great ideas of his own about how to better do the job. He is creative with the projects--he is not stumped by a difficult project or situation, but studies it and executes it with thought. He is detail oriented--looking at things on his own and making sure they are lined up correctly and are in the right place. He is a pleasant person to work with and we look forward to doing more projects with him. We would not hesitate to recommend him.
