Darryl returned our call quickly, called before they came and arrived right on time. He and his associate were friendly, highly informative and competent and wasted no time. I'm a retired elevator constructor and foreman and as such, am quite knowledgable when it comes to anything electrical, but this had me stumped. I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them and use them again. Review form in mail
Description of Work: Review from David at dlesourd@att.net. We had a rather complex electrical problem trying to find a bad electrical circuit that blew out the lights in one part of our den.. They tracked it to the light on the tree outside and fixed it correctly and efficiently like the pros the are! Review form in mail

Daryl is extremely thorough and very much a master electrician. He scrupulously measured for just the right location of each light. When he cut out the holes in the ceiling, it was perfect. When the job was done it looked as though everything had always been there. There is other work he will be be performing in the house because the original wiring leaves something to be desired. His quiet manner and obvious expertise inspires confidence. I just know whatever he does will be done right.
Description of Work: I needed new lighting in the kitchen of my new home. Daryl and two helpers installed 5 recessed ceiling lights and 5 under-cabinet LED lighting units.

The work was done in a professional manner and they kept things neat and clean. They need to work on their punctuality -- late all 3 days. But overall, we would hire them again.
Description of Work: Daryl's crew did a big clean up for us in a house that was full of "unique" wiring done by the previous owners. Lots of mysteries solved and now when we walk into a room and flip a switch, something actually comes on that is LOCATED in that room!

Your wiring was a real challenge to work on; most electricians wouldn't be comfortable even touching it. But I'm glad that we were able to clean it all up and make it safe again.

The crew arrived on-time and with the plan well in hand. Other electricians who had bid on our job wanted to cut tons of holes in our ceilings and walls to run wires to our finished basement, or suggested putting the ethernet wires in the corner of the ceiling and running crown molding to cover it. Justin thumped the walls, crawled up in the attic, and came up with a plan that only required one hole in our ceiling, in a place we'd already planned on putting in an exhaust fan. They worked quickly, neatly, and explained everything to a curious homeowner along the way. They even fixed a separate small issue I had mentioned during the estimate. We have other electrical work that needs to be done, we'll definitely be giving them a call when the time comes.
Description of Work: Added 2 20 amp circuits to our finished basement, ran 2 ethernet cables through interior walls.

I needed an electrician to look at my electrical panel. A home inspector had flagged the box as being one that was prone to major problems, including possible fire hazards. I contacted Daryl and he was extremely helpful. He offered to look at the panel the next day at no charge. I couldn't believe it! He arrived on schedule, inspected my panel and pronounced it in good shape. He explained that the manufacturer went out of the panel business because of the quality problems. He said there was no evidence that it needed replaced now and might never go bad, but when selling the house, every inspector would find fault with it because of an inherently faulty design. It would be best to replace it if my home sale contract fell through. I told him I would grant an allowance to my buyer,. He made no attempt to sell me on letting him fix it. A complete professional and teacher of master electricians, Daryl Howard will be the one electrician I call when I need electrical work.,
Description of Work: Daryl inspected the electrical panel in my home and submitted an estimate of cost to replace it.

I had lights not working after a paint job where 2 contractors did not know how to install plugs and switches in this 50 year old house. I called Milestone Electric first and he came out and spent 5 hours in the house with a checksheet of everything that needed to be changed, including the old Federal Panel. The Milestone guy insisted the federal panel had to be moved to the garage or outside the house and wrote up 3 options the lowest being $6500 and the highest being $7800. He did a "Safety Checklist" that looked very official but I think was designed to scare people into replacing their boxes. I also might add Milestone knows every house in this neighborhood was built with a federal panel so he came armed with lots of terrifying material so that you would think even though the house had never had a problem in 50 years, it would burn down tomorrow. His estimate also included $100 for EACH GFCI installed and the permit fee was tripled. Since my mother was going to put the house on the market, we decided to bid out the work for a new panel. Daryl came out and declared the panel did not need to be moved, and would replace the box, fix the plugs and switches and bring everythng up to code for a grand total of $2300. I would add that I did call the Milestone Customer Service people who noted their prices are guidelines for their technicians and requested a visit to the house to review the quotes for the work. Unfortunately, I had to deny their request as my mother was so mad at the outrageous bid she wouldn't allow them back in the house for any reason. Daryl sent Jason and Justin to complete the work which took all day and it was HOT. They did a great job. We also had the panel replaced in another old house and are very happy with Daryl and his staff. I am a real estate agent and he is my go-to Electrician now. Thank You Daryl!
Description of Work: Replaced Federal circuit box, install GFCIs where needed, correct wiring that other contractor installed incorrectly, install dimmers, switches where needed. Daryl was $5,000 less than Milestone Electric and teaches the Master Electrician class.

He showed up and told me that it was a two man job and might be a litte tricky. He said he would have to put pencil to paper and call me with an estimate. I saw him on a Friday and he said he would call me over the weekend with an estimate. Well it's two weeks later and I still haven't heard from him. I called another electrician (Bob Owens) and they completed the work in short order.

.Jason and Justin perforned the work efficiently. They both work very hard to ensure all the steps were done correctly and timely. The bad connection in the juction box in the attic was found and cleaned and corrected. The ceiling fan problem were found and corrected and I did not have to install a new fan. The connection in the attic was corrected an now my computer is working properly. I was very impressed in their effeciency and confidence and very happy with the end result and price.

Daryl came over to see what needed to be done. He provided an estimate and completed the work. I was very impressed with the work that he did. In addition, I thought that he charged a fair price for the work that he completed. I think he did a great job and I would recommend him. Further, if I ever need any electrical work done in the DFW area I will hire him again.A job well done!
Description of Work: He put in a new weatherhead and mounted it on our roof. He replaced the wire from the weatherhead to the meter. Further, he put in a circuit breaker box on the exterior of the house and replaced the circuit panel box in our garage.

He has his masters. There are different levels and he is up at the top of the master electrician. He has people who work for him. He shows up and he cleans up. First time, he didn't even clean it as well because he had a little bag with him. He came back and cleaned it up. He came back and repaired it for free of charge. He did a fine job. He did a fantastic job on an old house. He has done a lot of different jobs for me. His price was reasonable compared to the other estimates I got. I would recommend him highly to other people.

I received a response to my call for an estimate. Daryl showed up timely for the estimate and had it completed within a day. In addition to Daryl, he has a 2 man working with him. I made the decision to go with Daryl on 04/13/2012. The work was started on 04/20/2012 and they completed the 60 amp sub panel that day, about 7 hours work. Again, to accommodate schedules, they were able to complete the rest of the work on 04/27/2012, approximately another 7 hours work. Everything was done neatly and well, all circuit issues were resolved in the kitchen. The did a good job cleaning up after each days work. I am very happy with their work. I have two minor complaints. The first, Daryl was a bit slow in his telephone response and they did start a little later than scheduled on each day. All in all not a big deal in my mind. The second is partially my fault. I had indicated that I wanted little remaining knob and tube wiring removed when the new circuits were installed in the kitchen. I missed in the proposal I agreed to that this wiring would be removed "if necessary". Perhaps it's unfair of me find fault in this as I didn't catch the misinterpretation of my desires in the proposal but I mention it anyway. Although I asked at near the end of the work, I didn't not mention it as a problem after checking the proposal. Final word, I am very happy with the work and the professional manner of Daryl and his two electricians. If I need additional work in the future Daryl Howard will be at the top of my list.
Description of Work: I obtained 4 estimates for the work I needed completed. The estimates ranged from $2,675.00 to $4,930.00. The work involved adding two electrical outlets in a bedroom, two in the dinning room, add circuits in the kitchen to eliminate a problem with tripping breakers (My home was built in 1936). The new kitchen circuits were also upgraded to ground fault outlets. Outside, I had an exterior outlet added below my service panel, a backyard flood light was installed. I had the service to the detached garage upgraded, a new service line from the main service panel to a 60 amp sub panel installed in the garage. That sub-panel now serves a new 220 outlet for an electric drying, a ground fault outlet for the washer. updated line to the lights. also a circuit ran to the storage shed behind the garage, adding a light, outlet, light switch. They also removed an unused, low hanging cable line from the service pole to my house as well as a free hanging cable line to each of my neighbors homes (they were not longer attached or used as well a an old telephone line that used to be connected to one of the neighbors homes). Note that the service pole is directly behind my house at the edge of my back yard. The utilities wouldn't deal with the problem and I was unable to get the neighbors to call in the request to have them removed. The city was also unable to remove the. They provided a circuit map for all the work they completed as well as cleaned up the wiring in my main service panel. I think that covers all the work completed.

Daryl was quick to respond to my initial quote request, and was very accommodating with my request to come evaluate the repairs the next day. He provided a written, itemized quote of all of my requests, which allowed me to remove some of the ?nice-to-haves? and focus on the safety issues. The only reason I gave a ?B? for price is that his quote was higher than the other 2 I received, but his experience and expertise were more valuable to me than saving a little money (you often get what you pay for). He was honest in explaining that he tends to quote prices based on the most work that could be involved, rather than giving the lowest quote possible to get your business, then having an unpleasant surprise on the actual bill. He was also able to schedule the work the same week that I received the quote. Daryl and his team were very professional and knowledgeable. He and 2 employees (not contractors ? this is important!) worked for 1 full day and the 2 employees returned for almost a 2nd full day. The Zinsco panel took awhile to replace, but they stayed late to finish this so they could reconnect electricity to the house that night. They were also very thorough with checking the wiring in all outlets and correcting several sloppy mistakes from work the previous homeowner had performed. This was my first experience hiring an electrician ? overall I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them. The work he did also has a 1 year warranty.
Description of Work: 1. Replaced old Zinsco breaker panel with Square D panel, including upgrade to 200 amps. Brought grounding of new equipment up to current code. 2. Installed outlet in garage ceiling for garage door opener. 3. Trouble-shooted and restored power to a non-functioning lighting and outlet circuit, as well as the vent-a-hood. 4. Checked all outlets and switches in home for proper connections and corrected pigtailing of copper to aluminum wiring where necessary (work performed by previous homeowner was sloppy and unreliable). This was as time-intensive, if not more than, the breaker panel replacement, and represented a significant portion of the total expense.

The job was a breeze. It took less than an hour and the job was done over $100 less than quoted price. The quoted price of $275 was a "worst-case" scenario that covered having to run the wiring through the attic or even outside the house. The outlet was installed next to AT&T's outlet and the difference in workmanship was funny to see. AT&T's outlet look amateurish compared to Darryl Howard's. The only tick for the 'B' in quality was that one of the outlets was installed noticeably crooked. However, neither of the outlets are visible from the living spaces.
Description of Work: The job consisted of running Cat-6 cable via the crawl space from the living room to the home office room and installing wall outlets at both ends. There was the option of running the cable through the attic or under the crawl-space of our pier-and-beam home.

We contacted Daryl Howard by phone, and he came out within a few days to look at what needed to be done. He gave us a proposal for the work, which we accepted, and then the work was promptly scheduled. Both Mr. Howard and the two helpers he brought with him were courteous and appeared to know what they were doing. The work was completed in less time than we had anticipated, and Mr. Howard noticed a few issues that we weren't aware of. We are very happy with the service and with Mr. Howard in particular.
Description of Work: We had a variety of electrical problems that needed attention -- ceiling lights that flickered on and off, and ceiling fan than didn't work, and lots of old cables for TV service that didn't work well with current HD technology.

He came out & did a whole house electrical inspection for $125. At the end of that service call he gave us a detailed list of things that needed to be repaired & also a few things that could've been updated. We chose to reschedule with him & get a new light fixture installed & also replace a breaker on the panel in the garage. Since the inspection fee applied towards any work/repairs done, we ended up paying a grand total of $230 for everything. We love our new light fixture & are so glad that the light in the kitchen/garage area aren't flickering anymore!

Daryl stepped in to perform the work after my attempts to work with another firm encountered numerous delays and missed appointments. Daryl was a professional from the get-go. We encountered a slight scheduling glitch when another job became a top priority for him. However, Daryl invested an hour before that other job to get our dryer -- which was inoperable due to the electrical problem -- back up and running again ASAP. His two assistants were sharp and pretty prompt. I was told the work would take 1 day and change, and that is exactly what was involved. So far (four days later) everything is working as we had hoped and ongoing issues with occasional power surges and appliances malfunctioning have ceased. We even have had a storm since the work and where that normally would cause a loss of power for a few moments, all stayed on. This was exactly the sort of experience I had hoped for. I would certainly recommend Daryl to others -- however, he is very busy.
Description of Work: Our home needed an upgrade and relocation of its breaker boxes, as well as some upgrading and relocation of wiring. Existing breaker boxes were turned into junction boxes and a new much larger main breaker was installed outside of the house.

Well first off I must say that I appreciate all of Daryl and his worker's hard work. I think I got an incredible deal for the amount of work these guys did. I had just purchased my first house that I knew had electrical problems thanks to my detailed home inspection report from Reality Inspection Services (different Angie's List review). I was able to get most of the repair work/ safety issues covered in the cost of the house thanks to that report. I called Daryl about a week after getting the keys to the house and created a list of things that needed to be done. Daryl took the time to walk through the entire house and explain in detail what needed to be done on my punch list. My first priority was to have all items that were safety concerns addressed first and then have him write a seperate estimate for the items I wanted added or installed thinking that I would only be able to afford most of them. He spent about an hour and a half with me scoping out everything to make sure he included all of the work accurately in the estimate. Several days later he emailed me a detailed estimate exactly as I requested it (itemized for each job requested). I wanted everything brought up to code so there were no worries as far as whether or not the house has safe electric wiring. The estimate looked great and everything I wanted actually fit in my budget. I scheduled work for a week later. He showed up the first day solo and got to work right away prepping the work so that his team could come in the next day and do the things he couldnt do by himself. I have never seen someone work so hard, especially when he had to replace the electrical line coming to the house from the transformer (the second day of work). I had a tree fall on the electric line which damaged the pole on the roof going down to the meter. Daryl and his team relocated the pole because it was in an odd location in the first place. He put in a new pole and properly anchored it because the electrical line was fairly long and the pole would have alot of strain without the anchor line. This anchor line should have been on the old pole in the first place, but thats obviously not Daryl's fault, it was another electrician. On the same day as the electrical line replacement, he and his team (three guys total) ripped out my old and very dangerously overloaded Federal Pacific panel (please google federal pacific panels, they are ticking time bombs) and replaced it with a brand new Square D electrical panel with more circuits for items I will be adding later (hot tub to name a few items). They started work at 9:30 and didnt finish until everything was done so that the house had electricity that night. They finished at about 6:30pm or so. Daryl and his team got all of the work listed above done in 6 business days. While he and his team were working on things, they found other things wrong (rodent damage or improper wiring) and stopped to fix it and make sure it was right before going on to the next task. For example, daryl was working in the attic for a few hours on my living room lights and stumbled on some improper wiring for the kitchen. It was the hottest part of the day but he stayed up there to finish it and make it right. He stayed up there for almost 2 more hours more just to fix the kitchen. I appreciate his honesty in everything he did. He spent ALOT of time in my attic making things that were very wrong and making them right. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I have many other home improvement projects to do so I had to put our landscape lights on hold but when it comes time to do it, I will call him for sure. Plus Daryl took a van load of firewood off of my hands (my backyard had pieces of a tree that was chopped down years earlier but I didnt have a use for it since I had a gas fireplace). Thanks Daryl for all that you did!
