Sam's crew was to didn't show up on the scheduled day (a couple of times) and didn't communicate the change to us. Once the crew began the job, they worked all day to dig out the hole (with a Bobcat) and haul away the dirt. In order to keep from damaging the existing landscaping, Sam said he would lay down plywood and drive the Bobcat over the plywood. He did lay down plywood but cut the plywood down into strips just wide enough for the Bobcat tires. Additionally, they used OSB plywood which broke apart after several back and forth treks across the yard. The Bobcat was too large (and ended up getting stuck in the vault hole for almost an hour as they attempted every maneuver to get the thing out of the hole). The Bobcat ended up created a 8-10" deep tracks across the length of the yard. Sam said this would be repaired. Sam's crew came back and poured the cement and completed the cinderblock wall. The wall didn't not line up correctly at one corner. Sam ended up shoving down an additional piece of cinderblock to make it look like the wall lined up (from the top). The Sump pump well was not poured to the correct size for the matching grills to go over the top but Sam said they would take care of that. Sam brought in the flagstone that was to finish off the top of the vault and layed them out around the vault (on the existing grass) to get them ready for installation (which ended up killing more grass). His crew also came in and layed some sod on the track marks but they didn't fill where there were holes (underneath the sod) and didn't roll the sod. They left several mud areas that were in need of more sod. That was the end of the work performed by Sam and his crew. We tried repeatedly to contact Sam with no results. Our spa salesman tried numerous times to contact Sam but with no results. Eventually, Sam responded and said he would be back but never showed up. We sent him a text saying we would post a negative review on Angie's List and the BBB if he didn't contact us; he never contacted us. Besides the job not being completed, here's the damage that was done: Piles of dirt were left around the edge of the vault that ended up killing additional grass around the area (the dirt was used to fill the vault but was left too long on the grass - numerous days). While bringing the Bobcat in and out of the RV access, they rolled over the garden edging and shoved it so far into the ground that it can't be retrieved. They dumped the piles of dirt in the street which ended up overflowing onto our garden breaking a sprinkler and killing three plants (when Sam's group brought out the sod, they dug up the sprinkler but never repaired it and left a hole). Items they did not finish: They never finished the decorative stonework on top of the vault. In fact, they were supposed to add an additional cinder block cap so the vault would be higher than the yard to keep water from draining off the yard into the vault - this was not completed. They did not find a way to cover the sump pump area so it was left open (no grate) for leaves, etc. to fill the hole. They left our yard looking like it was a patchwork quilt with tracks of sod sitting above the existing grass. They were supposed to pick up all the rocks and pieces of cement scattered across the yard and this was not done (leaving a mess for us while trying to mow the lawn). They left the pile of sand (for the mortar work) on our back yard RV access and their bags of mortar still remain in our wheelbarrow. Needless to say, this was a bad experience as we now have to pay someone else to come in and finish the job. The only saving grace is that we had only made payments as work was completed so we only paid for 2/3rds of the project. Do not use this company!
Description of Work: We hired Sam (Dallas Stamped Concrete) to create an inground "vault" for our swim spa. He was recommended by our spa salesman who had used Sam in the past. We met with Sam and he was very nice and said he would get the job done. The job involved digging a large hole to house our swim spa. A reinforced concrete pad was poured and then a reinforced cinder block retaining wall was constructed. Additionally, the project called for electrical work plus a decorative stone set around the top of the wall and a deck built over one end of the vault to enclose the service panel area of the spa. A sump pump was to be installed and hooked up to the existing french drain. The project was to include clean up and repair of any damage done to the yard.
