I had their 3 year monitoring and maintenance agreement. I paid DSS via quarterly billing. April 18th, I sent an email cancelling my service informing them I had sold my house and moved out of town. I gave them my forwarding address for a refund. I did not receive a refund. In May, I sent a request for a refund for two months (May and June) I had prepaid and didn't use. I received an email from the accounting manager that they would not refund since:"The contract is for 3 years and it hasn’t been fulfilled". I emailed them back reminding them I had moved and questioning their response to not refund the two months. I called and talked to the account mgr. She informed me they had changed their minds and decided to refund my two months. I spoke to Mr. Cherry, VP and mentioned I was writing a review on Angie's List. He told me I better not slander DSS or he would have an attorney sue me. I mentioned I was just stating the facts. I look forward to receiving my refund. In addition, I had them install 2 security cameras. One camera did not work correctly after the second month. For several month, I asked them to fix/replace the camera, they kept telling it wasn't the camera. After the 6 month warranty ended, I was finally able to convince & prove there was an issue with the camera. They agreed to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. If they had done this earlier, the manufacturer would have replaced it. I received an email they had gotten the camera back and wanted to know: "Do you want to have it picked up or pay to have it shipped someplace".

First, as a locally owned business that has been in business for over 35 years, we take these reviews very seriously. Our intent is to make every client 100% satisfied. We, like several alarm companies install monitoring equipment for free or discounted rates in exchange for a monitoring agreement. When the client chooses to disconnect that monitoring in a shorter time than agreed upon, it makes it very difficult to maintain that client satisfaction when they need to break their word. We stand by our products, warranties and obviously wished this would have turned out as a better client satisfaction outcome. We understand and will work with clients for those unforeseen life issues and even: 1. Offered to reduce the length of term (by 6 months) even though the client did not allow us to disconnect the equipment with a 90 day notice. 2. Agreed to refund the pre-paid monitoring. The camera manufacturer has returned the camera saying there is nothing wrong with the camera (under warranty), the issue is the camera is looking into an extremely dark area and can be corrected with adding a little light. Even with these offers the client was intent on giving us a bad review and there seemed no options with the client moving out of town without proper notice.

DSS came out and installed 32 cameras, 2 dvr's, and view software. Through the course of the install we found that the original cameras were not effective for night viewing. DSS came back out and replaced all cameras with a better camera. This company strives to make sure everything is right. Their people are professional and they work hard. After working with previous similar security companies, these guys prove to be the best.
