Dallas Carpet Repair

I contacted the provider on December 30 to get an estimate on three bad spots in my berber carpet. Ed (one of the partners) asked for a description of the problems and actually provided a quote over the phone and scheduled a time for the next day with an hour window for the arrival. On December 31 (the next day) Ed called about 10 minutes before the scheduled window and told me he was on his way and would be to my house in about 20 minutes, well within the scheduled time. When he arrived, he examined the spots I needed fixed, and told me that he has estimated high over the phone. Ed patched two holes in the carpet with great looking results. The first was a 8" by 2" run along a carpet seam. The second was a 2" by 4" hole made by a pet. The third item, which I had expected to need a patch as well, he repaired by stretching and retucking the carpet. He filmed portions of the repair for training of others and was quite willing to explain everything he was doing. He showed me a number of tricks for fixing simple items like small pulled loops in the berber, demonstrating the repairs without adding to the bill. When he was done with the work, the price specified was lower based on the complexity of the patches (he seemed to think they were simple). The only strangeness is the manner of pricing for repairs. The first patch was the noticeable portion of the bill. They have a minimum charge for the first patch in a carpet. The second and third repair were about 1/6th (each) of the total bill. So if you are going to have Ed and his team out, I would suggest having them fix absolutely every issue you can find in your carpet. Everything after the first fix was cheap.

Ron was to clean, sanitize and stretch carpet. We were having a problem with dog odors and were having trouble getting rid of the odors. First, he was about 5 hours late. He was to return the next day and stretch the carpet and reapply another round of the sanitizing solution. He did stretch the carpet but did not apply the second round as the carpet was still wet. Ron was supposed to return a day or two later and he never returned. He did, however, tell me three times that he would be here. Each time I waited (for HOURS) and he never showed up. Apparently in the doorways where he was supposed to add some padding, he put boards under the carpet! I am now going to have to hire someone else to complete the job they never finished but were paid to complete and this work is now going to cost me double what it should have cost. Sadly I used them before I joined Angies list. They were the reason I joined Angie's list. Never again will I use just anyone who advertises.
