We had moved into a home that had a worn fence and knew I needed another one. I drove up and down our neighborhood alley's looking at the quality and design of many many fences trying to find the perfect one. (You will notice that fence companies post their names on the back so it was easy to know who the builder was.) That is how I came across Craftsman Fence. Every fence I liked had the same architectural design that added to the beauty if the home. I called the company and the owner Armando came out to our home. (Well dressed and professional just like his fences.)I had told him I was planning on purchasing a 12x12 hot tub for the back yard and in his design plan he arranged for an oversized gate with metal posts and poles. It has been over 14 years and the fence looks as good as the day it was installed and was most amazing was the over sized fence had never became week or did not close. Even the stain has held up well. The quality of the fence wood by far was the best and did not have any knots in it which deteriorates over time leaving holes as you can see in lesser quality fences. Bottom line you get what you pay for and over time you will be spending twice as much for an inferior fence if you base it on price. Plus, no matter how beautiful your home is a fence what shows off a home. I suggest having him come out and show you his portfolio or better yet, visit one of his works to see. Sorry Armando but I doubt I will need another fence any time soon. thank you.

I loved them. The fellow came over almost immediately once we called and asked about getting him to look at what we needed to have done. He worked it out at a convenient time for us and came over and listened to what we were wanting. I had seen some of their fence work in the area and that was the reason why I called them in the first place. None of the fences I saw were ordinary. They were very beautiful fences. They were very well built and built to last. He came over and we discussed what we wanted to do. He wrote us up a quote and we agreed to do it. He was going to have time to get somebody out in the next couple of weeks. We left it at that for him to give us a shout when his schedule was going to work out. He didn't require any kind of deposit at that point which I thought was pretty unusual. He called within the 2-week time frame that he had given us. He had mentioned to us initially that he was going to take care of any kind of city permitting work that needed to be done. He would take care of getting utilities out because we were going to have to dig new posts. He was going to take care of getting them out to work and make sure that everything was okay on that. He was going to need a plat from us in order to get those things taken care of. He called and we made arrangements to give the plat to him. They came over that day and actually started tearing down the old fence and got the new posts in. That was on a Thursday. We had a gigantic rainstorm that night. My back yard where they were putting in the fence doesn't have any grass because I have some pretty heavy tree growth. Friday morning his guy showed up and he let me know that they would be back in the morning which was going to be Saturday. We had already discussed the fact that I have 2 big dogs. I use the back yard for them and couldn't have them not have access to the yard for a long period of time. He told me that they would be back on Saturday and would get the fence put in place. It may not be completed, but it would be good enough for the dogs. They showed up on Saturday morning and they got to work. Good to his word, the fence was completed and the gate was hung. The decorative work was not finished, but the structure of the fence was done by the time they left on Saturday afternoon probably around 5 o'clock. They came back on Monday and finished up the trim work that it needed. He kept in touch with me on Saturday while they were working if there were some things he wanted me to check out and see if that is really what I wanted to do. I got a chance to go out and take a look and see if everything is good. It is just beautiful. It's a gorgeous fence. It is wood on wood and he built some lattice work for us and also built us some fills. He does wrought iron work in a lot of his fences. He suggested that we put a little window in the gate that was a wrought iron piece and we agreed to that. It's everything I wanted. I didn't do a lot of comparison on the price. I knew what I wanted and I knew it was going to be pricey. The quote that he gave me was within what I was expecting to pay and we paid the quoted price. I am happy. We will be using him to go ahead and replace the rest of the fence when it is time. We discussed a few other projects with him that we were considering for the back yard so I will be using him again.

The quality of the fence is terrific - from the wood itself to the actual construction. Armando's crew showed up on time and completed the fence on schedule. I think he's on the high end of the price scale, but it's worth it. I've had the fence almost four years, and it looks like it was installed last week. Armando is definitely self confident, but his product is superior to anything else on the market. He also has a very distinct artistic vision, which is a plus.

If you wouldn't mind being stood up twice, then call Armando; the principal owner of Craftsmen Fence. This saga started when I initially called Craftsmen Fence to schedule an appointment for them to come out and quote a board-on-board wood fence project for my home. The initial appointment was set for 9:00am on a Tuesday morning. However, his wife/assistant called me and mentioned if I wouldn't mind "re-scheduling" due to Armando's need to take care of a personal problem. Without hesitation I replied, "sure". (I truly didn't mind as I am aware that "things" do pop-up unexpectedly). Thus, we agreed to re-schedule for a Saturday. This time, Armando insinuated that it was best if we did it the following Tuesday; I personally think he as trying to get out of a "Saturday" appointment. Again, I gave Armando the benefit of the doubt and RE-SCHEDULED FOR THE THIRD TIME forTuesday of the following week at 8:00am. He arrived promptly. But, my gosh, this Armando guy was so ARROGANT!! For example, I had asked his opinion of other local fence companies. To my surprise, he bashed every reputable company I've ever heard of and that exemplify an A+ rating with BBB, such as: Dal-RIch and North Texas Future Fence. By this point, I had had enough of his 20 minutes of "I'm so great" attitude and constant pessimism of other local fence companies that I quickly disengaged our conversation by telling him that " I would let him get to his measurements" on my property line. WOW!!...I kid you not, by the time I walked in from the back porch door, walked into the kitchen to pour a glass of water, to the time I sat down in my home-office, I heard his truck turn on. Yep, he was gone!!! I gathered that either: 1. He was so experienced building fences that he "eye-balled" the measurement to extreme accuracy OR 2. He wanted to get the heck out of dodge!! Well I gathered it was the latter since it's been 5 days and I have yet to get a quote and/or receive a follow-up call. And based on his unprofessional demeanor, I suspect I am making a correct assumption that he will not get back to me with a quote or call. So, if you want to spend a little extra time dealing with someone of this nature, then Craftsman Fence would be a perfect fit for you. But for those who value personal time and definitely don't have time for non-sense, then don't waste your time!! By the way, his brother, the owner of Royal Fence Company (I forgot his name) is just as bad!! I called Royal Fence for a quote not knowing they were brothers. I mentioned to the owner of Royal Fence that I was getting bids from four different companies for a fence project. When I mentioned Craftsmen Fence, there was a huge pause, then I heard, "Yes, Armando is my brother". Well he failed to show up twice for appointments....guess it runs in the family.

It was really very well done. Armondo is very professional. His crew has been with him for a very long time. His crew was deticated to completing each job one at a time so they were hear until the job was complete. Also it is the nicest fence we have found in Dallas. He has a patent on his gate design it has a design on the gate.
