excellent work
Description of Work: Rob Brown showed up and spent over an hour in measuring the inside and outside of my house. He then gave me a report of what he found. He recommended 14 piers (a competitor recommended 15) and provided information on what procedures they followed. Since our area had been in such drought conditions, I had to wait for 3 months before they could level my house, but that was expected. The crew showed up a little later than expected, but went to work. They removed bushes (and took them away for me) and asked where to pile the dirt from the drilling. A week later the leveling crew showed up. They leveled my house, then cleaned up the yard, and took away other stuff (not part of the job) for me. My yard looked better than when they started. They also came in and adjusted the doors inside so they would all close properly. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Overall, very well. Our point of contact was very responsive and professional. The crews were smart, approachable, hard working and kept a clean work environment. My only criticism is that Brown sub'd out the plumbing test to Olshan, which got in over its head on a clean out installation of a 3-inch cast iron pipe in the plumbing system of my 1962 house. Ultimately, I went with another plumber to do the repair, but Brown was understanding and apologetic about the deal. Browjn paid for the clean-out installation, and did everything they could do get Oslshan to repair the pipe, but I came out a little bit to get a better plumber out there to do the pipe repair. Overall, I'd recommend Brown in a heartbeat. Lifetime, transferable warranty; reasonable price; and a great job! Only caution would be to have a good, trusted plumber in your back pocket in case Brown's plumbing sub gets sketch on you.
Description of Work: Brown came out and evaluated the foundation. They ended up putting in 10 piers on our slab, mudjacking the slab and trenching a root retaining wall.

My house is pier & beam going through a transition from winter to summer. In my part of the country, we have wet springs with clay soil. The foundation did not need to be raised but one corner need to be lowered. Water run-off on one side of the house was causing the foundation to be a little higher. For a company that is in the buisness of leveling foundations, I thought that was remarkable for an esitmator to be forthright and say that the house didn't need to be raised but needed to settle and the foundation dry out ... I will follow-up with them again and if the foundation does need work, Brown has my business.
Description of Work: I contacted a couple of foundation specialists on Angie's List. The first company did an adequate job with the estimate. They suggested raising the entire house on every corner but one. Brown's Foundation Repair not only gave me an estimate but told me what was the problem with my foundation. They did not want to do anything and offered to come again and re-evalutate the situation.

Lee, from Brown Foundation came out and examined the foundation. He was prompt, on time, professional and did a thorough inspection. As a result he advised that I did not have a problem that warranted putting in a pier.or any work at this time There was not charge for the inspection. I will certainly call them again if I need any foundation work

The representative was professional, courteous and prompt. I didn't decide to use the service.
Description of Work: They came to do an estimate on the house. They spent two hours drawing the house and writing the elevations on the drawing. They did not measure the garage. The representative told me that he would be getting back with me with a CAD drawing. It took about 2 weeks. (He said his computer was in the shop.) I opted to go with a company that included garage measurements--as our garage is under the same roof as the rest of the house.

On the Friday before the work was scheduled to begin, I got a call from Kristie confirming the date. On Monday morning, the first crew arrived at 8:00am to begin digging. The crew chief walked with me around the house explaining what they were going to do. I tried to stay out of their way most of the time, but when I did go out to check on the work he showed me their progress and answered my questions. It was in August and one of our 100-degree days so a little after 4:00pm he told me that they were going to knock off for the day and come back the next day to finish. They arrived Tuesday at 8:00 and began work immediately. They finished the drilling, installed the rebar and poured the concrete. They were finished shortly after 11:00am. and told me that another crew would be out the next Monday for the finishing work. Again, I got a call from Kristie on Friday afternoon. The new crew arrived at 8:00am the following Monday morning. Again, the crew chief explained what they were going to do. We walked with me through the house and I showed him the doors that I was having trouble with and the cracks in the wall and the bathroom floor. They placed the jacks at the piers and jacked up the house. During the process, the crew chief came in to measure the floors until they were level, the doors closed properly and the cracks visibly closed. They then custom built the pier caps and finally replaced the dirt and cleaned up the yard. I was very pleased with the work and would recommend this company.
Description of Work: I had classic signs of foundation problems--doors that wouldn't close properly, cracks in the wall, and finally, a noticeable crack under the vinyl flooring in the bathroom. I found the listing for Brown Foundation here on Angie's List, but I also knew their reputation, which is excellent. An inspector from Brown (Doug) came out and took measurements and told me that I needed 14 piers around the front of the house and along the sides. He fully explained the process and how long it would take. I had already planned an upcoming two-week staycation, and they were able to schedule the work within that time period. Because they would be digging under the house and then pouring the concrete piers, it would be a two-step process on two consecutive Mondays.

They were very professional when they came to do the estimate. They said we had a minor problem and if we took care of it now, it would prevent it from becoming a major problem down the road. This is a common problem in our area of Dallas. They gave us a very competitive estimate and told us what to expect and recommended the French drain on one side of our house. We compared them with a couple of other providers and then scheduled the work and got it done in a day.
Description of Work: I used Brown Foundation Repair to install a French drain and do foundation repair. They did some leveling.

Work was not done at this time.
Description of Work: Based on information from a plumber that I had a leak under my slab in the sewer line and might have damage to my foundation, I called Brown Foundation Repair. The man who came to do the inspection seemed very well qualified and competent. He did a thorough inspection and told me that I did have some minor settling of approx. 1/2 inch in a limited area of the house. He suggested that I have the sewer line repaired, establish a watering schedule that would keep the ground around the foundation at a consistent level of moisture and call them if the situation deteriorated. He did give me an estimate to correct the settling which was over $1,000 less than another company who also performed the same inspection. The representative of the second company did the same type of inspection, found that the settling was approx 1/2 inch. but insisted that the repair was necessary. I decided to follow Brown's recommendation and will definitely call them again if I feel repairs are warranted.

Brown Foundation Repair was excellent for me. I had a very old house and foundation that needed repair. I called a differnet company that did not do work on my type of foundation. This company recommended Brown Foundation Repair and they did a great job. They did the entire job in two full days. Their cusomter service was great. They arrived on time and also had a very accurate price estimation. Everything I had done was worth the money.

They were able to commence the work 3 weeks after the estimate was given. Another firm had said they wouldn't be able to start for 6 weeks and their estimate was higher. They had to push the scheduled work back a day because of weather. The work was to have taken 2 days, but they sent out 2 teams and they finished in 1 day. They saved the monkey grass bed where the drainage line was dug & replanted the bed when they finished. They hauled off all excess dirt & said that if in the future settling made more soil needed, they would bring me some. They cleaned up all debris and washed off areas where dirt had been dropped. There was some very minor damage to some vinyl siding where they attached a connection to the drainage system at a down spout. The teams worked hard during the whole process and were very professional.
Description of Work: Added 5 precast piers and shimmed off existing piers with metal shims. Installed about 58' of HydroGo Surface Drain System with 4-12"x12" catch basins and drain into sump pump basin which drained to back of property. Price included $1,500 10-year warranty for drainage system.

They sent out a person to give the estimate. Foundation repair had been done in 1990 by Alliance and completely destroyed it. These people had to re-do the job. They are employed by Brown and 'tinkle' tested-they were very respectful when it came to coming in the house; they put booties on. We had to have a plumbing company come out to make a repair on two holes. They even came out on Saturday to fill holes. They stayed on task and completed it. They were on the money. They had to initially pull out some shrubs and they even asked if we wanted them put back-we declined but it was nice of anyway. They even brought their own microwave and plugged it in outside! They wouldn't come in to warm their food.
Description of Work: 30 piers had to be put in under our 1500sq ft house. They dug the perimeter of our house and had to jack it up 3 and a half inches.
