The biggest nightmare of our lives. This is a portion of the letter we wrote to Boulder Crete and Dana Hammontree came to our house and signed this letter promising to make all of the problems right with us. With an added note to his signature copy. Call when you are ready and we will be out within a week to finish this up. Started calling him on 9-28-12 he has one excuse after another, promises to call back never does. Says he has other jobs to finish up, ours in on the back burner forever. Since your business relationship started with us (Jeran & Cindy King) on March 21, 2012 with us giving you a cashier?s check for the amount of $23,391.00 this pool installation has been nothing but a headache. We will give you the benefit of the doubt and bypass March21- April 18, 2012 since that was not your fault, it was the permit process. But, from April 19, 2012 on is all on Boulder Crete. From the time that the pool was dug until we finally decided to stop, it has been one thing after the other. Having a few guys to come out and work for a mere 2 to 3 hours and then leave is not what we expected. When the pool was finally set in the hole we were told 7 to 10 days and we would be swimming. Now 9 weeks after the pool hole was dug we finally got to swim. Having been a construction materials inspector for 9 years I would expect more from a concrete contractor. There are still several items, punch list if you will, that need to be fixed. 1. The coping is still not up to our standards. When someone pays $33,000.00 for something they expect nothing less than perfection. Saying that let me explain. The coping in some areas has ½?? and in other 1?. It has been semi fixed, but, still as a CONCRETE contractor you should know that coping cannot be free handed. 2. The entire deck has trowel marks and knee board marks throughout. 3. The skimmer does not have the proper collaring, where as there is a collar and then 3-4 ? of exposed concrete and then the top lid collar. These are just a few of our complaints with the so called finished product. So, this is what we are expecting. 1. The concrete and coping needs to be fixed to our expectations, not what is considered by you ?Tolerable?. The only way that I can see this to be completed is to have the concrete either completely pulled out and re ?poured, or saw cut the coping completely off and reform and re-pour the coping. 2. The decking needs to be either torn out and re-poured or stoned to take ALL the trial and knee board marking out. If you decide to tear out and re-pour the concrete deck it will need to be stamped concrete as that the crew that did the salt finish had no idea of how to do it. Now, read the timeline and you will see that I did quite a bit of work on this pool myself along with my son and the help of my neighbor. After Brad came out and vacuumed the pool I had to finish the vacuuming myself. While doing that the filter has become somewhat aged. We want a new filter to replace the one that came with the pool. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - Gave1st check to Brad for $23,391.00. For deposit and 1st payment. Saturday, March 31, 2012 - Permit lady came by to view pool sight. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 - Permit submitted to City of Arlington. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 - Permit Approved. Monday, April 23, 2012 - Pool was dug. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 - Brad & Mark came out to shave the side of the pool hole. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 - NO POOL WORK. Thursday, April 26, 2012 - Pool delivered. The crane that was order to lift and set the pool was to small so had to schedule a larger crane for the 27th. Pool sat in drive way overnight. Friday, April 27, 2012 - Gave check #2 to Dana for $9527.00. Pool was set and leveled. I was told that the electrician would be out on Monday 4/30/12 and the plumber would be out on Sat. 4/28/12. Saturday, April 28, 2012 - Plumber came out and completed all the plumbing. Monday, April 30, 2012 - No electrician. I called Brad and he told me that the electrician would not be able to come out until Wednesday, 5/2/12. Wednesday, May 02, 2012- Electrician came out, was finished by 1545. I sent a text to Dana to let him know that the electrician was finished, he text me back say's that's good. NO INSPECTION WAS SCHEDULED!!! Coco, the grading crew, got here about 0700 worked until 1830. Thursday, May 03, 2012 - Dana called for inspection. I called Brad and asked when the rebar would be going in and that Coco did not finish, Brad told me rebar would go in on Monday 5/7/12 to pour concrete on Wednesday 5/9/12. Coco got here at 0700 and left at 1845, he did not finish do to the inspection had not been done yet and the electrical could not be backfilled until it was. Friday, May 04, 2012 - Inspector came and green tagged electrical as well as the electrical bonding to the rebar. Even though the rebar had not yet been laid. I called Dana to let him know that inspection was good. NO POOL WORK DONE!!!!! We finally demanded they get the pool SWIMMABLE for Memorial weekend and we would work with them again after the summer was over just to get to enjoy our pool. We are expecting nothing less than proper fixing of the pool. If you decide not to fix the deficiencies we are asking that you pay us the sum of $15,000.00 due to the fact that we will have to hire another concrete company to fix the deck and coping. If you choose to repair the pool and bring it up to our standards then we will have a start date and completion date, not to exceed 10 days, barring any weather as stated below. If you decline any of the above mentioned options we will be forced to take further legal action. As this is not what we want to do we hope that we can come to some type of agreement. See last sheet for start date and finish date. POOL REPAIR AGREAMENT BETWEEN BOULDER CRETE AND JERAN & CINDY KING __________________________________________________ Boulder Crete Rep.
