+ -1 moreShingles and turbines were replaced in one day. There was some minor incidental damage (flower pots, window screens, two malibu lights ) like there is on probably every roofing job. This is where representative Brent Parlin was there from start to finish. Communication and punctuality with him was excellent, and he made sure that all issues were resolved quickly and correctly. Brent is the reason that our experience with Bold Roofing was excellent and would not hesitate to recommend them.
Description of Work: Roof shingles replaced, turbines, vents, gutters and downspouts replaced.

Description of Work: Job was to replace flat roofs over my car port and patios. They had been wind damaged. Roof had leaked so there was some rotten structure to replace. (all outside). I have replaced the roof before (several years ago by a different company) and was not happy with the durability of the project. So I wanted to be very careful about the project this time. Job and cleanup is finished. A new product (to me) was installed on my flat roof, so I am taking a few days to evaluate the job before I pay., which was OK with the job estimator/manager.I was very impressed with the crew at my house. Very organized on doing a very tough project. The project had been done last (a few years ago) by an incompetant company, which made the project even harder to do. Bold Roofing was the only roofing company which offered to do roofing and carpentry necessary due to some rotten decking and some rotten rafters. The project was to replace the roofing and damaged wood on my car port and porches/patios. Part of the porch roofing was also over my house, so the roof had to be protected over two nights. I was very concerned about getting the job done right because I know how difficult it can be to fix a flat roof. I got several estimates from other companies before choosing Bold roofing. They assured me that they had used the roofing material before (a sticky back seal down material), and while I watched them I could tell that they had. I am watching now to make sure that everything stays sealed down, then I will pay. At this point it has been several days since the project was finished and I am almost certain of the very good results. The crew cleaned up behind themselves and worked the first day from daylight to dark. Seemed to be competant on the carpentry and very expert on the roofing. I have told the company that I would be happy to be a reference for them. I have done some roofing and carepentry and consider myself knowledgable about these things in general. I have no experience with seal down roofing.

+ -1 moreOur son used Bold roofing when he had a new roof installed in January 2012. He was pleased with the service and price, so we called for an estimate. Rep came out did the estimate. Price and material selections we right ( we had 4 previous estimates from other Roofing companies) Bold was not the cheapest, but we liked the fact that someone we knew used them, and that they responded so quickly. Crew was on the Job 3 days later and finished the same day. No mess no fuss. Great company to deal with. would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: I asked for an estimate for my roof damage following a hail storm. This company was doing a roof next door so the salesman came over and wanted me to sign a contract on the spot. He said to let him know when the adjustor was coming out and he would meet with him. He did this and my estimate didn't change because he was only concerned with my roof. I wanted to get another opinion/estimate and called another company off of Angie's list and they came out right away (same day) and also noted several things that should have been covered on my claim but were not. He took pictures, made notes and submitted to the insurance company to get the rest of the damage covered on my claim. He handled everything. It took some time to get the adjuster back out (months) and during this time, Brent from Bold roofing kept calling me and pushing to get the job done. I told him I had someone else give me an estimate and I was waiting for the insurance adjustor to come back out and that I would let him know what I decided after I had all the information. He kept calling and pushing and then threatening me and being very rude. I told him I potentially had additional damage that he didn't even try to get covered. He whined that he met with the adjustor and that should guarantee him the job. The insurance company was gonna pay for my roof whether he met with them or not. I was concerned that I potentially had additional damage that should have been covered and I was right! The 2nd company pointed out to the insurance company that I had wind damage to my fence, gutters that were damaged and several other things that amounted to more than $4000 additional costs that were covered. Also, during my researching and getting additional estimates I discovered that the job Bold roofing did for me about 7 years ago was below standard. I was considering both companies in the beginning but due to the fact that I received multiple rude and threatening calls from Brent Bolte and since he never worked to get me every penny of coverage that was due to me, I have chosen to use the 2nd company and would not recommend Bold roofing!

+ -1 moreI originally called requesting a roof repair. The estimator said he was almost sure there was enough hail damage to warrant the insurance company buying a new roof. I said I was very skeptical since they came to my house 2 years ago after a hail storm and encouraged me to file an insurance claim. Oh, he said "trust me". Well of course the insurance company denied the claim and then all of a sudden they became very unresponsive. So I called asking to please repair my roof. As the phone failed to ring I watched the water drip from the ceiling. In my opinion, this is a very sleazy company and I would not recommend. I wish they'd just have repaired the roof as I originally asked.Also, I wonder about their claims that they would provide a new roof without me paying a deductible. That seems suspect, too.

+ -1 moreDon Thomas is the primary contact we've had with Bold. From the start, he has been highly professional and helpful. Our roof was replaced last year (2011) following hail in the Dallas area. We got estimates from other roofers, but selected Bold and were not disappointed. Don was a vocal and diligent advocate for us as we dealt with the insurance company. After the roof installation, we discovered an electrical problem with the vents that Bold had installed. Within a few days, Bold fixed the problem at no extra charge. Another hail storm occurred in April 2012, and within a few days, Don stopped by our house to inspect the roof and help with temporary repairs to 2 cracked skylights. We discovered a leak near another skylight, and again, within a couple of days the flashing around the skylight was replaced at no additional charge. We have been very impressed with the ongoing commitment to customer service from Bold Roofing.

+ 3 moreWe had hail damage to our house that was quite significant. They did a really good job fixing everything, we've been pleased with the service. Based on prior experience with other contractors, John was good about returning calls and staying in touch. Having the damage that we had, it was very convenient and helpful that he coordinated all the care to have it done which was a really big advantage in our situation.
Description of Work: We had guttering replaced, sideboards on house had to be repainted. We had to have a couple of windows replaced. He coordinated all of the care to where we were able to have the roof replaced as well as the windows, and have the fence repainted.

We used the company about 10 years ago for a previous roofing project and were very satisfied with the quality workmanship and ease of the project. The installation was completed in a timely manner and our yard cleaned up and all debris removed, along with some other items that they agreed to haul away for us. The pricing was very fair and competitive with other quotes we received. Any questions we had about the project were answered promptly and follow up was excellent. We would definitely use them again and recommend Bold Roofing to our neighbors and friends as reliable and ethical roofing contractors.
Description of Work: This project comprised the replacement of roofing shingles and repair of damages to window screens, fencing and gutters. The prior shingles were stripped and the decking inspected for signs of leaks. No leaks were detected and the new felt was installed. For this project we selected Timberline Architectural Charcoal shingles and Elk Z Ridge to replace the hail damaged shingles. Bold Roofing installed new felt, drip edges, double enclosed valleys w/tile guard, vent stacks, flashing, turbines and gutters etc. and the finished product looks great.

+ -1 moreThe insurance paid for most of it. They gave us a discount for putting a sign in the yard. So, I think our out of pocket expense was around $1200. Our experience with them was very good. They were easy to talk to and easy to work with. They did an excellent job replacing the roof because we had a tornado this past spring. I didn’t lose any shingles on the roof. The tornado went right through the middle of my next door neighbor’s house. We had a little bit of damage, but the shingles held up very well. We had some trees uprooted and I just felt like they did a fantastic job. Their price was very good. Their responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were all very good. There was one problem. The workers were using some sort of instrument and they did a little damage to the wood soffits. It took the paint off. When I called to complain about it, the guy said that was because I had rotten wood up there. We had a bit of a disagreement about that. Then somebody came and looked at it and saw what I was talking about. I then got an apology for the misunderstanding. That part wasn’t so pleasant, but these things happen. Once they saw what the problem was, they took the responsibility for it and sent someone out to match up the paint. Then they got it painted right away.

He was not paying attention to what I was saying. His answer was that the contractors they use can do anything. I did not like his attitude.

The salesman was there at the start of the job and at the end of the day to make sure everything went well. I was very pleased and had confidence that my new roof was installed properly.

+ -1 moreWe were very happy with the work. One of the things I loved about them was that they really cleaned up their trash. That is a big plus. I would recommend them. They know what they are doing. They have state of the art materials. They knew about the air ridge at the top of the pitch. They have the non-reflective insulation where it keeps the attic cooler or warmer, depending on the season. And it works! It is significantly more temperate than our old attic was. They were done in a timely manner. They removed one day and applied the next. My husband got a couple of different estimates and thought this was fair.

+ 0 moreWe?d had the roof replaced about seven years ago, again because of a hailstorm, and it took them quite a few days to finish the job because of using less manpower. The work done by Bold Roofing Company went very fast. They had about 7 or 8 guys here and they were done in a day and a half. They were punctual and pretty much in line with the other bids that we had gotten. We noticed that a lot of other people had used them before, because the hailstorm had thrashed the whole neighborhood, which is why we went with them. There was not more than $800 - $1000 difference between them and the other providers. The work was covered by insurance as well. We got all new gutters and new downspouts. My husband looked up in the attic after it rained the first few times and there were no problems up there as far as leaking and gutters were concerned. We were very pleased with them.

+ -1 moreThe whole procedure took months for nothing to happen. It was sooooooo difficult to any straight answers from the rep - the office staff were helpful to an extent, but they arent the ones giving you the quote. Doug could not, not, NOT come up with a quote til he had seen the insurance figure, and strangely enough, the quote happened to be very VERY close to the full insurance amount plus deductible. Far too many "clever" non-answers. At one stage I had to contact the company after a 6 week rate to see if Doug was ever coming back to me about a quote. Very hard work dealing with him - Mr Bold wasnt at all sympathetic. Ended in my insurance agent having to intervene to get what *I* wanted, not the very expensive, low quality that Bold were insisting I should have. Ended up cancelling the whole thing - just far too much ill-will on both sides. Got much better deal in quality and for less elsewhere without the angst and frustration.

+ -1 moreTheir strong points were they were prompt and pricing was good. The workmanship failures did not materialized until year 3 or 4 later around the flashing to my fireplace. Detection of the leakage was difficult because it would only occur after very heavy rain falls. To further hide its location, the water ran along top of a sloped rafter for 25+ feet before failing onto my kitchen ceiling. I had to find it because Don Thomas, of Bold Roofing could not. This was February 2008 when he was initially contacted. Eight months later (November 2008) it leaked again --- after a hard rainfall. It appears the steep slope of my roof causes the water to breach over the top of the fireplace flashing. Again Don Thomas was contacted where he inspected the leaky fireplace flashing. He said he would send me an estimate the following day. Within the repair estimate, he said he would check with Bold Roofing management to see if any credit/warranty could be applied. He never submitted an estimate and he never returned my phone calls. After two weeks, I contacted the Bold Roofing office where I told my story. I was advised that the 2 year warranty had expired and no such credit/warranty would be offered and they apologized for Mr. Thomas's actions. I found Bold roofing workmanship faulty along with their professionalism. I would use extreme caution if you choose this company. Maybe have an independent inspector or knowledgeable individual that can inspect their work.
Description of Work: 5 years ago, Bolding Roofing removed my old roof and installed 3/4" plywood decking and 25 yr warranty roof tiles. The roof replacement was due to hail damage. This old roof never leaked (except when hail broke sky light). In less than 5 years, I have leakage around fireplace flashing.
