Estate sale went well. Staff was kind and very professional. It was a 4 day sale and they were on time and worked amazingly hard all day. We were very pleased.

Mark did an outstanding job for us. His knowledgeable crew knows the value of items and how to price them to maximize your return. Call Mark before you even think of sorting, trashing or recycling ANYTHING! We had items that we were sure were worthless that he sold for $$$. The effort Attics to Basements puts in to promoting the sale is nothing short of amazing. Hundreds of pictures were taken and posted and the buyers came out in droves! This group enjoys what they do and really know their stuff. They cleaned out every closet, drawer, cabinet and set up a store-like setting that made it easy for buyers to concentrate on categories that they were most interested in! I highly recommend Attics to Basements and would use them again if the opportunity presented itself!

It went extremely well. We sold more items than we ever thought possible. Great people! Great job! Special thanks to Mike who was tireless.
Description of Work: The staff from Attics to Basements were caring and professional and everything a family going through a difficult time could ask for. They priced and set up every item for the sale. They came when they promised and did everything that they said they would do. They had a large staff during the sale to help shoppers and answer every question. A number of shoppers have since asked for the name and phone number of the company and said that they were quite impressed.

FANTASTIC EFFORT! In late March, I was told by my original contact for an estate sale that she could not handle my sale until May. I looked here on Angie's List and decided to call Attics to Basements because of a review that said owner Mark was able to set up her sale the next week. I left a message for Mark on a Monday morning, he called me back within the hour and came to the house to meet me that day. He was able to schedule the sale for the next week (I think he puts on up to 4 sales per weekend.) His terms are a $2500 minimum or 35% of the sale, whichever is higher. After briefing looking through the house, Mark told me what he thought the sale would bring in; I think he would have warned me if he thought we wouldn't make the minimum. I met Mark at the house on a Sunday morning...with his minions :) (he had a setup team of about 10 people with him.) I told the team a few things about various items and then left. Monday afternoon I went back to meet a service person and could not believe my eyes: the layout was so inviting and really well organized. I checked some of the prices and for the collectibles I had already priced on eBay, the pricing was right on target. They had asked how to handle the trash; throughout the sale, it was put in the bins or bagged and neatly left outside the house. Mark called me every evening to let me know the day's sales. The sale was held 10 - 4 on Thursday and Friday, and 10 - 2 on Saturday. I was at the house each evening for different reasons and it was interesting to see what sold first (appliances and 50s/60s toys!) They discount the items each day, and it was amazing how much (let's be real) junk sold the last day - total sales were about $8300. I was able to go to the house on Sat at 2:30 and pick up the key and the check. The remainders were neatly arranged in three rooms, which made for easy work when I had the Salvation Army come for a pickup. The only problems that occurred during the sale were of my own making - we forgot to disconnect the appliances for sale, and the team discovered a leaking water line when they tried to move out the washer. Called me and left it hooked up so we could fix the problem without flooding the garage. I hope I never have to clean out a house again, but if I do I will call Attics to Basements.
Description of Work: The Attics to Basements team came into my parents' house and arranged, priced and sold off my parents' remaining possessions after they moved into a retirement home.

Mark came over to look at the house on time. He was very professional. Told us of his next sell which I checked out. His staff is professional, business minded and alert. They knew where the customers were and watched them...providing assistance to everyone. They were marvelous. Did their job well!
Description of Work: The employees were excellent as well as the owner. They came out as promised, did what they needed to do, got the job done. Kept us informed along the way, no surprises. They handled several unruly customers with extreme patience and professionalism. They charged a percent of the sales made. I do not remember what they received. My cost of service will be very off.

They were very courteous, respectful and most important honest. We were able to keep items that were found before the sale started and decide the minimum amount for things we wanted, but would sell if the price was right. When the sale was complete, they cleaned up after themselves and left us with the items that did not sell. This was most important to us because we felt it was respectful to our parent's and grandparent's respects.

Mark Whitney Pittman and his crew are all very likable, upstanding, nice, personable people. They really helped me move out of my house where I'd lived for 13 years. We had a furnished house in another state so didn't need any furniture, so Mark and crew sold it. I just had packers come in and pack up stuff we were taking and let Attics to Basements sell everything else. They went through doors and closets and even sold food I wasn't taking. They sold art, couches, dressers, beds, books, jewelry, garage stuff, refrigerator. I gave away the stuff they didn't sell, or put it on the curb. Highly recommend. Mark is cheerful and fun. His manager, Karissa, texted me with questions while the sale was going on and would let me know what things were selling for if I asked, altho I tried not to be too intrusive!

Mark was awesome to work with from the first phone call til they left at the end of the sale. His employees were the best, hard working, knowledgeable, nice, understanding and efficient. They were the best employees one could ask for. They did their jobs and did it in a superior manner! They handled several difficult customers in a very polite way. They were just on top of everything. Mark knew how to handle the sale and was superb in everything he did. He truly cleaned out the house; there is very little for us to deal with after the sale. I cannot say enough how great these people are Very fair, honest and so everything you need in this type of work. I trust them completely. If I ever need to have an estate sale; I will call him immediately. And I will gladly refer him to anyone who asks and give him a 10+++ rating on all his and his employees do.

,00 Call Attics To Basements the moment you decide to have an Estate Sale. It will be one of the best decisions you will ever make. I found them on Angie’s List. Where else would I look! Their expertise, professionalism and skill pay off in high traffic, huge dividends, and happy buyers and sellers. You will love the owner, Mark Whitney Pittman, and his capable, empathetic staff. You will marvel at their presentation of the items in your Estate, the care and staging of the items, and their knowledge of verbalizing the details and highlights of singular pieces. The moment Mark arrived, I knew my estate sale would be a success. He accessed everything in the house; let my sister and me ask questions; addressed any concerns we had; explained the order of events; took photos for advertising; and he and his team brought tables to set up and display many items; prepared the price tags and affixed them the next day. The estate sale took place over the next 3 days. During the whole time, my sister and I felt such a sense of peace and comfort with him and his great crew! We are so grateful we found them!! I’ve held several sales in the past, but never realized the tremendous benefits and results as I received from Attics To Basements. Their enthusiasm is unparalleled! I will never go anywhere else when I need the best!
Description of Work: Owner, Mark Whitney Pittman and his amazing team came to my Dad's home to stage and set up/arrange the contents for the best presentation. Items are priced with both buyer and seller in mind, staying current with values and trends. Tables are used to resemble a retail store in some areas. Mark pays for advertising, signs, and price tags. Sales tax is charged on all items; and he obtains sales permits where applicable. As items are sold, furniture, art, etc. are rearranged to attract buyers. Mark takes care of every detail. He and his team are the best!!

The guy from Attics To Basements Estate Sales was really really good. They take 30% out of the estate sale, and they handled everything. I didn't have to be there or set anything up. All I did was come by two days later and pick up my check. There was NOTHING left. If I ever unfortunately had to have an estate sale again, I would definitely call them. He is very dependable and very nice to work with. He is very personable.

They came to my home and gathered up everything, priced it, and displayed/staged it, all over a 2 day period. The following Thursday, Friday and Saturday was the sale itself. He and his crew were attentive, honest, friendly and professional.
Description of Work: Mark Pittman and his crew just finished a three day estate sale at my house in Lake Highlands, and they did a great job. Every one of his team was professional, courteous and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about having an estate sale. I only wish that I had not been giving away so much stuff in the months leading up to the sale, because I am certain that he could have sold it all!

Mark Pittman and his crew did a wonderful job getting my aunt's house ready for an estate sale. We left everything for him to go through and decide what was trash. I was shocked how organized and nicely displayed all the items were when they were finished and ready for the sale. At the end, he had unsold things all boxed up and my check ready just as he had said. Mark is very nice to work and he is very efficient. I am so thankful for Mark's service!!

I contacted Mark about having an estate sale for my mothers home. We met on a Friday and him and his crew started that Sunday. We did absolutely nothing, he took care of everything.

My parents had both passed away and we needed to do a estate sale. I called and Mark came right out. The sales went very well and we were completely satisfied with the results. I would highly recommend using Mark and his company

After reading the glowing reviews I called Mark and scheduled a time for him to come out and look at my home. He was wonderful and friendly on the phone and encouraged me that nothing I had was junk. it was all merchandise and he was accustomed to selling everything and quot; From Attics to Basementsand quot;. He arrived as scheduled on time and walked through the house quickly. He then told me that the quality of my stuff wouldn't make the grade - I didn't have high end antiques, collectibles, designer clothes, large collections, or a lot of artwork. He did refer me to an associate who he felt would be better suited to my merchandise. That was an awful experience but I will post a separate report.
Description of Work: Mark only came out and did a walk through of the house. Details below.

Once I spoke with Mark W. Pittman on the phone and we agreed that Attics to Basements was going to be my choice, Mark came out toured the house, we discussed a few of the more unusual pieces and he told me what I needed to get done before the sale. We signed a contract specifying the particulars. We set a date. From the time Mark came to my parents' home until the sale I called or emailed him several times with questions/concerns. He answered promptly and genuinely. A few days before the sale he came out took pictures of certain items and described to me what I still needed to do and how he was going to set the place up. About 2 days before the sale, Mark and his crew came in and priced everything with tags. As I said previously, they knew their stuff; they worked quickly and efficiently, consulting with me from time to time about some of the prices. I was truly amazed at how quickly they worked and how well the items were displayed throughout the house. Prior to the sale I asked Mark if I needed to be present during the entire sale. His answer was that it was probably easier for me, emotionally, to be absent except for the selling of the car. So I came and went once the car was sold. The sale started on a Thursday AM - that was unexpected for me – and went through Saturday. I was amazed at how many people showed up first thing Thursday AM. The car was virtually sold before the sale even started. All of this is obviously due to the following and reputation Mark has, as well as the advertising Mark did. Some fellow from a publication actually came out and took pictures of key items as part of the advertising! At the end of the last day Mark and I settled up the financial matters and it was over. Most everything of importance sold. What was left we had a local charity come and get. Attics to Basements made something I was dreading and had put off for 3+ months seamless and really fairly simple (for me.) Mark had told me that 2 things were constants in his business; at the end of the sale you'll be surprised at what sold and what didn't sell. He was absolutely correct on those! I hope I don't ever need to do another Estate Sale but should I, I will get Attics to Basements to do the job and I recommend them to other folks I know who need their services.
Description of Work: Attics to Basements is an Estate Sale Company. I interviewed several potential estate sale companies and most had a list of what they would or would not do. Often the "would not do" list was longer than the "would do" list. Remember YOU are hiring these people; YOU are the customer and if YOU feel like you are being dictated to, then find someone YOU can feel comfortable with. This is an emotionally grueling process! Mark Whitney Pittman of Attics to Basements put me at ease immediately. Selling off your loved ones’ stuff is not easy and Mark and his crew understand that and take that into consideration when working with the client. At times they would gently suggest that I needed to relax and let them do what I hired them to do. That was very nice and calming! They sold everything from furs to an automobile. They helped me decide (in some cases) what I should/could sell and what I couldn't/shouldn't. Mark and his folks did extensive research on many of the unusual items. With several pieces they asked if I realized what I had -something I thought was basically junk turned out to be very valuable. They would say this is Blah blah blah original, it’s worth about $XYZ! The other side of that coin is that many of the items I thought were extremely valuable were not. Be prepared for that! They were honest with me while still being gentle. They "staged" the house to best show off the items. During the "staging" they were amazingly quick. Mark advertised in several places and the response was amazing. He had a waiting list of people to buy the car, sight unseen, before the sale even started! Mark also has a following of people who go all over the Metroplex to his sales because they know that he does a good job, is fair and well organized. During the sale itself they had a very secure system, the very valuable items were in cases, under glass, and manned during the entire sale. When there were crowds they only let in a certain number of people at a time. They handled several delicate situations with customers with aplomb and diplomacy. (I would not have been as kind to some of the folks who visited.) They really knew their stuff. Who knew that people love old cigar boxes? Dos & Don’ts DO be prepared and comfortable with the fact that people are going to be wandering through the property for 3 days and will try to purchase everything in sight. If you don’t want it sold then move it! We had 2 rooms where we stashed everything we weren’t going to sell. We bought a couple of cheap, keyed outdoor locks and put them on those rooms. That was not a requirement of Attics to Basements. We did the locks for our own peace of mind. Mark and his crew will put DO NOT ENTER and NOT FOR SALE signs on doors and items too big to move (refrigerators, for example.) DO keep in mind this is NOT a garage or yard sale! DON'T get rid of anything before Mark has a chance to go through and look at everything. I had gotten rid of most of my parents’ clothing, shoes and other personal items as well as some of the personal care items that we used to care for my Dad in his last days by donating them to charities. Mark told me that he would have sold them On day 1 the prices are whatever Mark and his folks have set them to be. The next day everything is reduced by a certain percentage, the third day everything is reduced at bit more. Attics to Basements gets a percentage of what they sell - I don't remember what it is off hand but it is reasonable for all the work they do. If you have a piece that is of sincere sentimental value (For me it was an Antique English Tea Cart) that you don't want to see sold at a reduced price - DON'T put it in the sale. Attics to Basements gets a percentage once the item is for sale and they have marked it as such. If you put it in the sale and then change your mind you pay them whatever their commission was to be for that item. This is not a complaint. I think it is a fair way to handle the situation. I can only imagine how difficult it would be for them if their clients were constantly pulling items out of their sale. DON'T forget the breath. This is an emotional process for most people. It feels so final. They took most of the heartache and hassle out of disposing of my parents belongings. They even sold a luxury auto for a much better price than I was offered at local dealers and I didn't have to go through advertising it, taking phone calls, allowing test drives, etc.

From boxes and cartons of papers piled from floor to ceiling; doors which couldn't even open because of and quot;stuffand quot; piled in bedrooms and closets. An oversized two car garage which you couldn't even walk into. Everywhere you looked, and quot;STUFFand quot;. From all that, Mark and his crew were able to look through; putting aside anything the family might want; getting rid of all the years of cut out coupons and junk mail and finding treasures to sell at the estate sale. They did a wonderful job; I couldn't be more pleased. They were a pleasure to work with. Now if only I didn't have a zillion photos and slides needing to be looked at.........
Description of Work: The last review I submitted was before the estate sale was completed. The estate sale was held for four days. What Mark and his crew did was nothing short of a miracle. The transformation of the house from the condition it was in when I left in September and then three weeks later was remarkable. The presentation, pricing, crowd control, hard work performed by that crew was fabulous. I was getting tired just watching them work. I cannot say enough good things about them. The house was almost emptied by the time the sale was over. If you have an estate or a bunch of stuff, or hoarders in the family, Mark is the guy to help you.

My Dearest! Thank you so much for all of your kind words! It was a pleasure meeting you, working for you, and serving your family! Mark PIttman told us what he would do to ready the house and contents for the sale, an estimate of the sales proceeds and what to expect all along the way. He and his staff went through everything (and there was A LOT), evaluated and priced contents, set up, advertised in newspapers, online and to his contact lists. All we had to do was meet him with a house key when they started to work on the house and then pick up our proceeds when the sale was over! They were professional but friendly and a pleasure to work with. We were very pleased that almost everything in the house sold. If we had done the sale ourselves, there is no way that we could have done as much work or netted the amount that we did. Mark and his staff know how to price items and have an extensive email list for advertising. They did a wonderful job, and I would highly recommend Attics to Basements.

I was completely overwhelmed by the task awaiting me. I called Mark and explained the situation. Just speaking with him put me at ease. He met me at the house, the morning after I arrived. I already had a/c, water turned on and exterminator there the day before. The house was unoccupied with no electricity for 2 1/2 years. MY NEW BEST FRIEND MARK and I got along great and the rest of the knots in my stomach, back and knickers finally became untied. I knew I had found someone that not only could help, but would do everything!! Mark is knowlegable and professional. He explained to me what the procedures and steps would be through the finalization of the estate. I am still waiting for the probate court to give me the final papers. I in turn will give Mark the final and quot;GO TO ITand quot; signal, as soon as that happens. I have full confidence the final report will also be favorable.
Description of Work: I called Mark to see if he could help in the inventory and liquidation of an estate of a "collector", semi-hoarder. I live in Florida, but would be in the Dallas area for Probate Court on the estate.

It was a ton of work, but he organized it all and displayed everything very, very nicely, and even advertised the sale (online, newspaper, signs, and even phone calls to dealers he knows). He even made 2 trips to haul away the items that didn't sell (that I didn't want to keep).
Description of Work: I had a double-car garage stuffed full with items from a recent move, items from a recent close of 2 businesses, items from long-term storage units we gave up, and some of my recently deceased parents' items. Mark moved and lifted and sorted, and moved and lifted and sorted, and then organized, a million things - all with the greatest attitude! He clearly loves what he does.
