After submitting my application along with $231 in fees, all requested documentation of income and rental history, being approved, paying my deposit of $1250, enrolling in their rental portal, purchasing rental insurance, flying in from CA during Covid-19, hiring a moving company, turning on utilities, and terminating my lease at my previous home, I was told ON THE DAY OF MY MOVE that they have decided not to rent to me. The reason I was given was that I would not be a full time occupant as I had rented the place for my son who is a college student. This was stated on my application. I then contracted with a realtor to help me find new housing amidst COVID-19 (not easy) who saw on the MLS that the property had been rented out from underneath me. To add insult to injury, I was then notified via email that I was being charged $75 in late fees for non-payment of rent for a home that I do not live in! It will be interesting to see if my deposit is returned to me. I plan to take legal action. ! I have made 2 trips to TX, lost 3 weeks of work, endless hours searching for properties, emotional distress compounded by the pandemic and an increase in rent at my previous home due to cancellation of my original lease. It will be interesting to see if my deposit is returned to me. I plan to take legal action.

I have been renting a house from Alden Short for 16 months now, was only late with my rent once because payday was on the 3rd. I had $957, vet bill last month notified Alden Short that I would only be able to pay a portion of the rent on the 1st and that the rest would be paid on the 17th, and that I had not problem paying the late fees. Alden Short will not answer my emails, no communication from them at all when I tried to pay a portion of the rent the system refused to take it and stated only complete payments are accepted. Now that I go back to schedule the complete rent payment Alden Short has blocked me from the web site, they will not allow me to pay the rent. and no answer to my emails. has anyone else renting from Alden Short ever had these problems before, how did you resolve the issues? .

Last month I sent out this plea to help me find Sam Matolone, Scott Belsley or Christopher Henry, apparently either they are not real people, or they hide themselves so well no one knows them. The drama continues with Alde Short Property Management. This is their latest stunt: This is the first email I sent asking for a voucher to be able to pay September rent, no reply. The email print screen is uploaded This is the second email I sent asking for a voucher to be able to pay September rent, no reply. The email print screen is uploaded I figured out how to print out the voucher from the Alden Short Portal. This was on 08/30/19, before 4:00pm, please look at the print screen below and observe what the rent amount is on 08/30/19, at 4:00pm, it $1,425.00. The email print screen is uploaded Went to Walmart to pay The September Rent for some reason no one knew the system would not allow us to pay the September rent. The email print screen is uploaded I sent this email to Alden Short at 5:05pm while still standing in Walmart. The email print screen is uploaded This is a print screen of what the system stated The email print screen is uploaded This is a picture of Walmart to prove I was there and could not pay the September Rent. The email print screen is uploaded Then when I get home, I see that Alden Short took pity on me and finally after how many email pleading with them to let me pay the September rent I get this email; The email print screen is uploaded Today is finally September the 1st, head out to the check cashing place to pay my September Rent, the casher says its $1,725.00, that is impossible. I have a legally signed lease (by Alden Short and myself) that states the rent is $1,425.00, until 01/31/20, today is 09/01/19. The email print screen is uploaded On the last paragraph Alden Short states to take advantage of the on line payment on their portal, this below is what I get when I try to pay my rent using the Alden Short portal. The email print screen is uploaded The drama with Alden Short not allowing me to pay my rent on time continues. I sent them am email while I was still in the check cashing location sent 2 pictures so I can prove that I was there. The email print screen is uploaded Get home check my email and look at what Alden Short sent me, is it not against the law to change the lease amount when it’s still 5 months legally signed by both party’s lease that states the rent is $1,425.00. The email print screen is uploaded Does anyone out there know what the $200.00, charge if for, you can see clearly there is not explanation, just because Alden Short can is why. The email print screen is uploaded As I have shared with the WWW out there Alden Short does not follow a good business plan, they falsify legal document charge for items they cannot prove they paid for, but the tenant has to reimburse them, or they will file an eviction notice. The email print screen is uploaded I cannot call them until Tuesday which will make my September rent 3 days late, last time I was 6 days late they filed for eviction falsifying the data stating I was months behind on rent. I keep yall update on what Alden Short does to me this time, since Alden Short has already told me they do not return voice mails, answer emails, or respond to the comments left on their portal. They are total scammers, do not refund deposits at all ever! They won't respond to requests unless you threaten a lawsuit. Never answer their phones or return messages. They overcharge and make up charges to keep your deposit hoping you will just give up and forget about it. Several employees have verified that they were made to overcharge so they wouldn't have to refund. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!

OU CANT DO ANYTHING LOWER THAT A 1 STAR .... THIS COMPANY HAS CAUSED SO MUCH PAIN FOR MY YOUNG SON AND HIS FAMILY, ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS TO HAVE A HOME. THE HOUSE THEY APPLIED FOR A THOUGHT THEY WERE GETTING WAS A JOKE . THEY PUT A DEPOSIT ON THAT HOUSE ONLY TO BE TOLD AFTER THEY WERE APPROVED THAT THAT HOUSE WASNT AVAILABLE SO THEY HAD TO MOVE MILES AWAY FROM EVERYONE INTO WHAT WAS AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE BEEN THERE ALMOST A YR AND ALTHOUGH HE HAS PAID LATE HE HAS ALWAYS ALWAYS INCLUDED HIS LATE CHARGES. NOW THIS COMPANY HAS TAKEN HIS RENT MONEY AND FILED AN EVICTION ON THE SAME DAY THEY TOOK THE MONEY WHICH HAPPENS TO ILLEGAL SINCE THEY HAD GIVEN HIM A NOTICE SAYING HE HAD TIL THE 10TH TO PAY THE RENT HE PAID ON THE 10TH WITH LATE FEES AND THEY FILED ON THE 9TH. IN THE STATE OF TEXAS YOU HAVE TO WAIT TIL THE 3RD DAY HAS PASSED IF YOU GIVE A 3 DAY NOTICE . SO ALDEN SHORT DROPPED THE EVEICTION AND WE WENT TO COURT ANYWAY . THERE HE MET KIM WHO SAID THAT SHE WOULD HANDLE EV ERYTHING AND GAVE HIM A PHONE NUMBER (THAT SHE HAS TO THSI DAY ANSWERED OR RETURNED HIS CALLS ) YOU SEE NOW ALDEN SHORT IS CHARGING MY SON LATE FEES ON THE EVICTION FILING FEE FOR THE EVICTION THEY WITHDREW ARE U FOR REAL . SO 2 MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND THIS MONTH THEY DECIDED WHEN HE PAID RENT THEY WOULD TAKE ALMOST HALF OF IT TOWARD THE LATE FEES IMPOSED ON THE EVICTION FEE THAT THEY WITHDREW. NOW HE HAS TO TAKE ANOTHER DAY FROM WORK TO GO TO COURT . I AHVE ADVISED HIM TO TAKE AN ATTORNEY INTO COURT WITH HIM AND I AM PAYING FOR IT BECAUSE THIS MAKES NOW SENSE. WE REALLY THOUGHT KIM WAS A REAL PERSON THAT WOULD LOOK INTO THIS AS SHE SAID SHE WOULD AND HANDLE IT AS SHE SAID SHE WOULD BUT NO SHE DIDNT , HASNT . PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY . I HAVE 30 YRS IN PROPERTY MANAGEMENT AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN A COMPANY AS THIS AND IT APPEARS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A WHILE TO PEOPLE AND GETIING AWAY WITH IT. I FEEL BLESSED THAT I CAN GET HIM AN ATTORNEY SO THAT HE CAN NOT CONTINUE TO BE TREATED THIS WAY .
