They were good. I did not get a comparable price but they seemed fair.

Rick was very knowledgeable. This was my first service call for our AC unit, so I had a lot of questions about how everything works, and Rick was happy to answer them. He also gave me some great recommendations on basic AC maintenance, for both the indoor and outdoor components. Very positive experience.
Description of Work: Repaired clogged AC drainage system, emptied drain pan, upgraded drainage system with emergency overflow sensor, cleaned coils of outdoor AC unit.

Horrible! While conducting the A/C checkup, the tech suddenly noticed that the upstairs A/C unit was dripping water from under the coil and onto the insulation and wood beam underneath. He removed the panel and his diagnosis was: this type of coil is supposed to have a splash guard installed to prevent blow-over of water. As a result, the ceiling in one of the upstairs rooms was now wet due to the drywall getting water on it. He didn't even bother showing us exactly what was wrong; he was in a hurry to leave no doubt. We had to then hire another A/C company to see what was wrong. They said the tech's initial diagnosis of the unit needing a splash guard was dead wrong. Only A/C units that are 5 tons need those, our units are only 2.5 tons each. This was an easy diagnosis for an A/C tech, yet he missed it. Also, it s quite interesting that there was no leak in the A/C unit until after the tech arrived. The other tech finally concluded that the AF1 tech intentionally broke the primary drain pan, located inside the service panel. The only way that part could have been broken was if someone whacked it with something very hard, it's not something that breaks very easily or by accident. So considering the tech sabotaged our unit and caused us nearly two weeks of unnecessary inconvenience and hassle, I would not recommend using this A/C company ever again, except to your worst enemy. Perhaps this company is good overall and the rep I spoke to on the phone was friendly, but it's the front line tech's that are the face of the company. They need to do away with rogue techs that intentionally sabotage a customer's A/C unit just to drum up repair business. This is unacceptable and I will never tolerate this gross violation of trust. Caveat Emptor.
Description of Work: We hired them to perform a simple A/C checkup for both of our units in May 2008. There were no issues with either unit before the tech came over and both units are brand new (only 1 yr. old). We just wanted to confirm that everything was OK and avoid any major issues this summer.

JUST THE FACTS MA'AM, JUST THE FACTS...THIS WAS A NEW SYSTEM, INSTALLED 1 YEAR PRIOR BY SOMEONE ELSE. OUR TECH DETERMINED THAT THE COOLING COIL CABINET WAS ACCUMULATING WATER ABNORMALLY AND LEAKING OUT OF THE COIL BOX INTO THE EMERGENCY DRAIN PAN HANGING UNDER THE COILS. THIS CAN BE CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE PRIMARY DRAIN PAN IN THE COIL BOX OR BLOWBACK IN WHICH CASE A SPLASH GUARD MAY BE NEEDED. THE CUSTOMER WAS TOLD THIS AND THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BY THE COMPANY THAT INSTALLED THE UNIT AND THE CUSTOMER AGREED. A CRACKED DRAIN PAN IN A NEWLY INSTALLED SYSTEM MEANS THAT THE DAMAGE OCCURRED AT OR BEFORE INSTALLATION. THIS KIND OF DAMAGE CAN OCCUR DURING SHIPPING, STORING OR AT INSTALLATION. THE CUSTOMER SAYS WE INTENTIONALLY DAMAGED IT "JUST TO DRUM UP REPAIR BUSINESS." DID WE OFFER TO FIX IT FOR A PRICE? NO. THIS WAS A WARRANTY PROBLEM TO BE FIXED FOR NO CHARGE BY THE COMPANY THAT INSTALLED THE UNIT AND IS WHAT WE TOLD THE CUSTOMER. JUST THE FACTS MA'AM, JUST THE FACTS...

Ultimately used another company because they seemed to be too busy with other business to help me out.
Description of Work: Contacted Air Force One through Angie's List on a Friday morning to completely replace my A/C, Heating and furnace units. They were punctual enough to call me back the next day on Saturday, but couldn't schedule someone until the following Thursday.

Called on Tuesday morning when I had no A/C. They were able to come out that day and diagnose the problem. By Saturday I had new units inside and outside. Air Force One willingly re-worked the initial proposal to accommodate my desire for a green unit with higher SEER. The installer was on-time and very professional. I will not only use them again but recommend them.

I called Air Force One to get an estimate to replace the condensation line out of my a/c with a copper pipe (it was a rubbery tube and had a hole in it) and to wrap all of my ductwork with insulation. The technician who showed up told me the tube I wanted to replace was not the condensation line and that it had nothing to do with the air conditioning system and he didn't know what it was. He even said he thought I didn't need it for anything and it may be able to be removed. Funny, since it was leaking water from the hole in it so it was obviously being used for something! He took a picture of it to take back to his office to see if he could find out what it was. He told me he would e-mail me an estimate for wrapping the ductwork with insulation. The next day, I hadn't gotten an e-mail so I called. I was told they had to get measurements in order to give me an estimate so they would have to come back to my house. I asked why the first guy didn't do that when he was up in my attic. They couldn't give me an answer. They then told me that the line I wanted replaced was in fact the condensation line. He quoted me $1195 to wrap the ducts and $235 to replace the condensation tube with a copper tube. I thought the pricing was ridiculously high. I have since had another company do the exact same work for $800 total and they did a great job. I had a third company bid less than the $800, but I was more comfortable with the guy who was charging $800. I don't have any confidence that Air Force Air Conditioning has technicians who know what they are doing and their prices are incredibly high.

WE LOVE DOING QUALITY WORK FOR THE DISCRIMINATING HOMEOWNER. IT IS DIFFICULT TO BID A JOB FOR WOULD-BE CONTRACTORS TRYING TO SPEND AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE TO FIX UP AND QUICK FLIP HOMES. IF THE CLOSET FURNACE HAS TO USE A CONDENSATE PUMP UNDER THE CLOSET FLOOR WITH A DRAIN LINE EXTENDING UP INTO AN ATTIC DRAIN PIPE, WE ARE NOT GOING TO USE MATERIAL THAT MIGHT BREAK, DECAY OR BE EASILY DAMAGED. LIKEWISE, IF THE METAL DUCTS ARE LEAKING, WE ARE NOT GOING TO RE WRAP ALL OF THE DUCTS WITHOUT AIR SEALING EACH JOINT, WHICH IS EVERY 5 FEET. AS A LICENSED HVAC CONTRACTOR WHO WARRANTIES HIS WORK WE PREFER TO BID AND PERFORM TOP QUALITY WORK.

Absolutely wonderful. Kevin told me I might need a new part, but determined that a lizard had crawled inside and was causing the problem. Cleaned everything out, and checked the entire system. Wrapped condenser coil with new material. Gave me instructions on how to maintain the system for better efficiency. I couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism and service. On time and service with a smile.

They called a day ahead of time to remind me of the appointment. Also called when the drivers were on their way the next morning. Arrived just as scheduled. Took them less time than expected (approx. 1 1/2 hrs.). The final bill was exactly the same as the estimate. Were very professional, quiet and went about their business. When they left it was so clean no one would ever know they'd been there. They hauled off the old drain pan and let me see it first (the bottom had an incredible amount of rust and they told me there had been minor leaking prior to their visit; this was evidenced by the fact that one corner of the room below had mildew near the bottom and a file cabinet there has rusted in a small spot on the carpet. I discovered that only one week before when I was moving furniture around in that room). I really liked them and will definitely call again.
Description of Work: Replaced drain pan under attic A/C system (was rusted out). Replaced with new metal pan and auto-sensor (shuts off system when water in pan reaches a certain level). This is to prevent overflow and damage to ceiling and walls and indicates a service call is needed. [Note: Blew out overflow drain and emergency overflow drain previously and checked A/C @ a great price. I contracted w/them for regular inspections.]

Had the original service call and estimate for this job back in October, but due to a family emergency had to postpone for five months. Called the office and the original bid, which was $200.00 less than what my neighbors paid for the same service, was still good! Scheduled the job for a Friday between nine and ten a.m. and was told it would take four to six hours to complete. Chris and his partner showed up (with shoe covers on) at 09:05 and were done by 12:30. This included a run to get a hose because the complex didn t have a water source close enough to clean off the old A/C unit. From start to finish I have been very impressed with this company s level of professionalism and customer service.

There was no resistance when I asked to do the work myself to save some money. I ended up buying the motor and installing it for $100 plus about 30 minutes of time. I bought the motor from their sales shop on Plano Road and the guys there were very helpful as well. I would certainly recommend again.

The technician arrived on time. He found the problem quickly. He told me that the electrostatic filters I have aren't the correct size - an inch off. He said the disposable ones didn't clog as much. I called Air Force One on 11/14 and they were out at our home on 11/16 to provide an estimate for the work to be done. Chester Ellis was my contact and he was wonderful. I received a formal written estimate first thing the next morning. The work was scheduled immediately and was done on 11/23/07. The work was done well and Air Force One was prompt in answering questions and getting me all of the information I needed. I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed romex connector to protect furnace wiring. Repaired hole in plenum with sheet metal and mastik coating. Re-hung emergency drain pan. Cleaned out emergency drain pan. Extended drain line to eve, extend PVC down through eve, air seal outlet. Replaced sun room ducts with R-6 flex duct, ran 8" flex to 8X6X6 metal wye, wrapped metal wye with R-6 wrap, ran the two 6" runs to sun room supply boots, air-sealed all duct connections. Chemically washed and cleaned condenser coils. Took new Delta T readings.

The project went very well. They had forgotten the fact that they had to install a gas exhaust vent for the new unit, but they did so without any extra charge. My existing compressor unit was relatively new, so they were able to size the new A-coil unit to match my compressor instead of replacing it. This fact reduced the cost of the job considerably. They also removed the old unit from the attic space and hauled it off for me. They did a very good job of cleaning up afterwards.
Description of Work: We contacted the company to give us an estimate on removing our electric central heating unit and replace it with a gas unit. A representative came and surveyed the job and later faxed us the job scope and price for doing the job. After telling them to progress with the work, the workers showed arrived at the house at the agreed upon time. The process of removing the old unit and installing the new unit along with modifying the duct work took all day, but every thing went smoothly.

They provided a quote of just under $650 to replace a small blower motor for a 450 sq. ft. efficiency condo, which I thought was totally absurd. I priced the motor at a local HVAC supply shop and found it for $95. I purchased it and replaced the motor myself in about an hour (and I'm not experienced, having never performed that type of repair in the past). Assuming they could have replaced it as quickly as I did, in about an hour, that puts their labor rate at a ridiculous $550 per hour! I'm sure there are other, equally-qualified shops out there with more reasonable rates and better scheduling/timeliness. Because of their lack of punctuality and their EXTRAORDINARY rate for a simple repair, this is the one and only time I'll use this vendor. I'll be looking for another company the next time I need an HVAC repair.
Description of Work: I had AF1 out to take a look at an A/C blower motor that was making noise, suspecting that the bearings were worn and that the motor needed to be replaced. Technicians were very friendly and knowledgeable but arrived a couple of hours PAST the end of the arrival window. Diagnosis of the problem was prompt and accurate. After the diagnosis I was told that I'd receive a call the next morning with a quote on replacing the motor. No call was received as promised after 2 days, so I called them.

My experience with Air Force One Air Conditioning was far from normal. By that, I mean that Chester Ellis and Danny Sides did not try to sell me a new compressor without looking at what really needed to be done. Chester gave me three options from which to choose. This, only after he and what seemed like a small army of his crew, came out and inspected my house for no less then 3 hours (all for free). The professionalism that I experienced with the AF1 Team was outstanding! I felt comfortable with them in my house without me being present. All of the workers spoke fluent English and answered all of my questions. After they completed the work, they made an appointment to come back out to test the air flow. After testing they determined that additional work needed to be done to maximize the cooling. There was no charge for the additional work. They insisted that I live in the house a couple of days to make sure I was happy before I paid. To say the least, I was happy.
