2 employees showed up right on time. They worked for 1 hour checking out the 2 units. These men were VERY professional. They determined that everything was fine with the heating system. I did not have a $ charge because I signed up for a complete yearly service when they were out to check my air conditioners. Their pricing is very fair. I know because of the other companies I have used in the past.

Prompt, courteous, professional, and personnel. Was very pleased.
Description of Work: Annual inspection and replaced a connector in the compressor. I was shown a part that would fail soon, and I decided to go ahead and replace it. The part was in stock in the service vehicle, and I was shown the obvious problem with the part. There was no doubt in my mind that there would be a problem with it soon.

After receiving two bids, we found that installation would require a crane to install the same model of condenser that had failed. Air Force One was able to provide a condenser unit whose dimensions are such that it could be brought up through the house and through the trap door in the roof, therefore eliminating crane costs from the job. Three technicians laid down dropcloths to protect floors and carpets and were very professional. Installation took approximately 3.5 hours. After one week, the system was blowing warm air. A phone call at 9 A.M. had a technician at our door 3 hours later. An installation mistake was the culprit, it was fixed and the system works perfectly now. The other company that bid on the job was less expensive, but really unprofessional.
Description of Work: We have a townhouse with two separate HVAC units, one for the top and one for the bottom floor. The top floor system had the condenser unit fail. The units are located on the roof of our townhouse, access is not easy.

We had a unit that was not properly cooling. We knew it was an older unit, but didn't want to spend a fortune to replace it because we were getting ready to sell the house. The technician tested the system and determined we just needed to replace it. An hour after the technician had left, he called to say he had been thinking about the problem and would like to come back because there is one more thing he would like to check before we replaced it. He came back and found a leak that he said could fix. The cost was mere pennies compared to the cost of replacing the condenser. All is cool and well in the house now.

IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, THE PRICE WAS FOR (1) A ONE YEAR MAINTAINENCE CONTRACT ON 2 SYSTEMS, BOTH WITH ROOF TOP CONDENSING UNITS, AND (2) INSTALLATION OF A NEW DIGITAL NONPROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT. UNFORTUNATELY, THE TECHNICIAN ON CALL DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT THERMOSTAT AND TRIED TO UPSELL THE CUSTOMER ON A PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT. THE TECHNICIAN CALLED THE OFFICE AND WE APPROVED INSTALLATION OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. THIS WORK WAS PERFORMED IN APRIL 2008.

It went pretty well. There was a thing a plenum where the air was supposed to bounce around in there, and they said they could fix it, but they couldn't, they didn't tell us they couldn't, I had to ask after it was all done. And they didn't give us an opportunity to look for another way before everything was installed. So the airflow isn't correct in the house. One of our rooms gets alot colder than the rest of them. There was a big box that said do not truck this in, and the guy put that on the bottom of the dolly.

My upstairs A/C unit was not cooling properly. A house inspector told me he thought the problem was that the compressor was weak and that an air filter had been left in the furnace. I called Air Force One (who regularly serviced my units) and they sent Rick out that afternoon. Rick spent a few minutes checking the condensor and said that the compressor was weak and recommended replacing the condensor unit. Since I am in the process of selling my house, I did not want to spend a a lot of money. I asked how much a new compressor would be. Rick called his office and then quoted me $100 to replace the compressor. I said for that price it only made sense to replace the compressor and not the whole unit and he agreed. He told me that his office would email me a written quote. I paid the $79.95 service call fee and he left. Two days later I received the quote by email and was shocked to see it would be $1200 less the $79.95 service call. I spoke with Chester who tried to convince me that I misunderstood and he didn't want to listen. I did some research on the internet and called another A/C company from Angie's List. The technician I spoke with did not think that a weak compressor was the problem and sent a technician out to look at it. After a much more thorough examination (and removing the old filter from the furnace) he determined the unit was low on freon. After the unit had cycled the new freon the technician checked everything again. I was charged $1000 less than Air Force One wanted. I called Air Force One and told them what happened and how I felt that I had been taken advantage of. The woman was very rude, said to me "good luck with the other company" and hung up on me!
Description of Work: Rick did a quick check of the unit and felt the pipe. He told me I needed a new condensor unit or I could install a new compressor.

A TRULY UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCE. $1200 TO INSTALL A NEW COMPRESSOR IS AT OR BELOW STANDARD COST. FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN THE TECHNICALITIES, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT GET THE COMPRESSOR TO PUMP DOWN BELOW 50PSI; THIS INDICATES THAT THE VALVES ARE FAILING OR IT IS LEAKING FREON BACK INTO THE COMPRESSOR. THE COMPRESSOR WILL FAIL IN DUE TIME AND SHOULD BE REPLACED.

Good work; prompt and punctual. I asked the first technician about programmable thermostats during their first visit and the next time that I called, another technician brought several models for me to look at. I appreciated how the company kept in mind that I had wanted to look at the programmable models. No sales pressure, which was good!

Then, quickly repaired the electrical problem.

Kevin arrived at 2:30, had the problem diagnosed and fixed in ten minutes or less (bad capacitor), continued with the inspection / cleaning of both systems, and was done and gone by 3:30. Kevin was courteous, respectful, friendly, informative, helpful, knowledgeable, clean and neat. He wore shoe covers while inside and left the place cleaner than he found it.He offered good advice concerning the maintenance of the systems, and gave us a jar of jam to boot (see their website for FAQ)!
Description of Work: I realized I was getting hot and the A/C wasn't on. I ran through the HVAC checklist - breakers, compressors, blowers, thermostat... - and found that the blower would come on but very weakly. It was clear to me that it was time to call someone else. I reviewed Angie's List, selected this company, called at about 1:30 and spoke to Susan. Kevin could be here at 2-4 for a (Angie's List discounted) diagnosis. Susan also suggested I consider an ESP (annual service plan) which would get me two annual visits to inspect, clean, lube, etc. both systems plus a 15% discount on any other service/parts/ labor required. (This is worth the cost to me. I used to have this included in home warranty, which we did not renew this year.) Cost: $150 (1st system) + $90 (2nd system) - $20 Angie's List discount. If I bought this, Kevin could inspect both systems today, fix whatever was up with this one, and give me 15% off any repairs required. I bought; Susan sent the paperwork with Kevin. Susan would call me when he was on the way. She called back in about 15 min to say he was on the way. Susan was courteous, respectful, friendly, informative, helpful and a good salesperson too.
