Friday night, noticed A/C was running sluggishly. Went to Angie's List, found the top rated company, called, got night operator, said they'd call in the morning. They did. Rick came to the house, and got right to work. As we were having a Birthday pool party for my Grandson @ 11 am that same day, A/C was a must. Rick determined that the system was in serious need of cleaning. Went right to the task at hand. Left the work area cleaner than he found it. Tried to get him to stay for swim and some cake, but he said thanks, maybe another day. Great Technician, best visit ever. I now have a new A/C company. Thanks Rick, thanks Air Force One, and thanks Angie's lList. I am telling all my friends about all three of you!!!!
Description of Work: Cleaned outer compressor coil, checked coolant levels, cleaned evaporator coils, verified amp draws on the motors. Very thorough work by someone I can tell, from my own past experience, is a very competent serviceman. Very good at showing me why each step needed to be done. Best A/C service call I have ever had.

Air Force One was the second company I called about my A/C. The first company told me that i would have to pay 8000 to replace my entire system. Air force 1 did a complete diagnostic and determined that it was a faulty capacitor and not the entire compressor that was at fault. The Air Force One technician, Kevin, was the height of professionalism and was very thorough in his job. I will be telling everyone I know to use Air Force One.
Description of Work: Fixed broken capacitor on A/C.

Air Force One came out the same day we called (in the height of summer) to evaluate our decrepit A/C system. The technician did everything in his power to try to resurrect it and restore it to function before we made the call to kick it to the curb. He then promptly worked up an estimate for replacing the system--the estimate was much less than we expected--and arranged to have it installed the following day. The next day the installers showed up, carefully protected our carpets, made nice with the dog, and replaced our interior and exterior units in under six hours. It looks good and works great. Am I impressed and pleased? You bet.
Description of Work: A technician came out to attempt to repair our A/C system. It was beyond repair. Installers came out the next day to replace our HVAC.

During the initial visit, he did not seem to do a very detailed diagnosis as to what the issue was. He seemed to be in a hurry and wanted to get on with his Saturday night. It seems like he should have been able to determine the correct problem that night. I didn't give them a failing grade because they did get the system fixed, but not without much grief on my end. Based on the large number of highly rated Angie's list HVAC contractors in the area, I will not be using Air Force One in the future.
Description of Work: My Air conditioning broke on a Saturday evening and I called them for emergency service. They charged $195 to come out and diagnose the system Saturday evening. They arrived quickly after I called them. The tech diagnosed the problem as a bad circuit board and said they didn't have the part, and would have to wait until Monday. He said they would call me to schedule an appointment on Monday. (Afterwards I called another HVAC company to see if they had the part, and they didn't but they said the Trane dealer would have opened up after hours for a $100 fee. This would have been a nice option to have known given it was 100+ degrees outside!) When he got the part on Monday, he showed up at the end of the two hour window they gave me and he changed out the circuit board. The AC still didn't work. He claimed the indicator light on the circuit board indicated a failed board. (I checked the indicator light numerous times and it showed no such error.) He then diagnosed the issue as being the fan motor control module. By this time is was 4:50 pm and he said the Trane location was closed and we would have to wait until Tuesday to get it fixed. Because I felt he did an inadequate job initially diagnosing the problem on Saturday, I was not about to accept this as answer. I called his manager and demanded he go to the Trane location to get the part and fix the AC that night. All of a sudden his story changed and he said they were open until 5:30 and he got the part. Long story short, he finally fixed the AC and every thing seems to be working normal. Final cost to replace the control module was $519. Also, they tried to leave the replaced circuit board in the furnace and charge me an additional $600 for it, but I refused to pay and he put in my old control board and the system still worked.

We have been without our a/c for 2 weeks. We had two other companies to give us estimates these ranged from $2000 to $6000 and we paid for diagnostics. One company told us we needed a new unit inside and outside. Air force One came out on the same day we called them, they phoned to let us know they were on their way. They diagnosed the problem quickly and repaired the system immediately for a total of $328. I now have a cool home again thanks to this company

Dale is my hero. In fact this company is my hero. I have to say on a scale of crappy days this one was a 12 outta 10. I had 2 dogs at the emergency vet, one under going surgery, the other in a Oxygen tent and came home from that to my other dogs who were sitting in a hot house.. temp was 83 inside when I got home and realized the AC was not working right. This was about 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. I just wanted to sit down and have a good cry. I looked on Angies List and called Air Force One and asked if they had someone who could come out, they said someone could be here between 4:00 and 6:00. I was SO THANKFUL. Dale showed up around 5:00 even with difficulty in finding my place. He was able to replace the contacts and capacitor and had my AC back online in no time. I don't really know if the prices are in line with other companies but it seemed reasonable to me. Dale said I could probably get away with the Capacitor I had but it would eventually need replacing, so to avoid issues I just said take care of it and he did. Thank You Dale & Thank You Air Force One.

It was a great experience -- I got an appointment quickly, they arrived on time and got the job done quickly and correctly. The answered all my quesitons and gave me great service. I bought the maintenance aggreement and would recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Dale came out on Tuesday to do a routine maintenance and to give me a 2nd opinion on a rusted & leaking emergency drain pan (prior service provider had said my whole blower unit would need to be replaced for the rusted and leaking drain pan). Dale advised the rusted drain pan could be replaced without replacing whole unit -- and after a thorough check of the unit he identified a freon leak. And because of the location of the leak replacement of the blower unit was needed. I had purchased a annual maintanance agreement -- so in addition to a great price for the new unit I also got a 5% discount. Angel and Roberto came back 2 days later and installed the new unit. They corrected the angle of the drain pipe and installed a turnoff switch - so it would drain more efficiently and cut off if drain plugged. They were very thorough, got it installed quickly and cleaned up before they left. The price was less than an estimate I'd recieved 2 yrs ago with other company -- and the service was much better!

Our A/C unit went down when it was going to be 97 degrees. I called at 10:00 AM and they advised me they could be here between 5:00 and 6:00 that evening. Our tech. arrived at 5:15 and had the unit working by 6:00. The tech. had been to our home before to fix a previous problem. He is very professional and knowledgeable and just a nice guy. He replaced the motor and the system now works great!

The job went fine. It is the second time I called them and so I am satisfied with their work. They responded quickly and got back to me quickly. I needed the work to be done in a short period of time and they were able to expedite it. We had to call them back because it wasn’t wired correctly. The original team that came to do the repair was kind of cranky, but the guy who came back to fix it the second time was very professional. The first crew seemed to be in a bad mood that day. They were quick in fixing the wiring. I would probably use their services again. It is not a tremendously strong endorsement, but in the heating and air conditioning world there are far more thieves than there are good providers.

Needed to get a new HVAC unit as many things were going wrong with the old one. Got several estimates but they were the most reasonable. Arrived on time and had the old unit out and hauled away and the new unit installed within a day. Installation folks were very nice and professional. Because of the tax rebates and Texas refunds in effect (plus a Rheem discount), there was a lot of forms to fill out which their office staff and Chester (the salesperson) helped us with. Then after about a few months the system stopped working, I called Chester and within a half hour a service person was there and fixed the problem at no cost. Overall excellent service.
Description of Work: Replaced Heating/AC system that was around 30 years old, then came out and fixed a problem about 3 months later.

Horrible. As usual the service tech was on time (in fact early, they called ahead) and he had done previous work with me and is knowledgeable. As suspected the control board in the fan unit was bad, causing the fan to run continuously. He had the part on his truck (understandable as this wide coverage aftermarket part is used on many systems) and I told him to go ahead and replace it. He quoted me a price for the part of $450!!!! That is about one third the price of a new furnace unit!!!!!!! I asked him if that was correct and he said he got the price from "the office". I immediately checked the item on the Internet and found four sources for the part at about $45 a piece. Adding S&H may have put the price at about $60. I then called the firm and asked to speak to the owner, Danny Sides; I had dealt with him directly many times from when they were starting up. He wouldn't talk to me but the parts counterman, Chester got on the phone. I had recently bought a new fan motor for this same unit from Chester and he and Danny actually troubleshooted the problem on their counter (I brought the old fan in, the bearing was seizing up). The fan motor was $199.14 with tax and the same Tech had to go to their supplier to pick it up. I though that price was reasonable given the service I got. I have been in the motor repair and electrical equipment business and have a good feel for relative value. After arguing with Chester and several "on holds" while I assume he discussed it with Danny Sides he lowered the price of the control board to $350. Claiming the Internet vendors were selling below cost and ordering by the car load (then why doesn't he buy from them?). I canceled the annual service contracts order, paid $89 for the service call on the one unit and the $350 parts cost and told them I would never again do business with them. I stapled the results page from my Internet search to the check. I keep good records and checked what I had spent with them in 2010 & 2011 (not counting this call) and it was over $1,000. Good contractors can turn greedy, particularly when they have a good business plan that skirts their competition.
Description of Work: I set up an appointment to get service on my three HVAC systems. One system (5 ton) was running all the time, even when the Thermostat was satisfied. I suspected a bad relay or control system on this unit. The Annual inspection Service contract for three systems was $320, compared to $99 for a single call on one system. I had used this firm many times over the years. They are one of the few local dealers who sell parts to the public, in fact their retail sales arm is called "Open to the Public". Most other HVAC dealers will not sell parts to the public/DIYers, hiding behind Texas' strict laws on Freon handling, but in fact colluding to restrain trade. In a recent transaction I had bought a Square D disconnect switch from this firm for $39. The same switch was available at Home Depot (I found out later) for $16. Dallas used to have a lot of electrical, plumbing and HVAC dealers to source parts from, but gradually they have closed/consolidated and I am faced many times with purchasing over the Internet, usually at a fair price and saving local sales tax (8.25%) but typically getting hit with high "Shipping & Handling" charges, many times approximating 30% of the price of one part. So I prefer to buy local.

Response from Air Force One Air Conditioning
We are sincerely sorry that the member had a problem with our pricing, although we are pleased that he gave us high marks for QUALITY, RESPONSIVENESS, PUNCTUALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM. We promptly and properly diagnosed the member's problem for him and even gave him the correct circuit board part number. He was free to order the part over the internet and install it himself, but he chose not to. Note to internet do-it your-selfers: spend $100-150 with shipping, after 7-10 days you may get the right part and find that it's missing a component, like wiring harnesses that you can't get anywhere. What about the warranty? Can you really understand the installation instructions? What if you burn it up putting it in? It's ok if you want to try, but beware of the downsides. Now, anyone that has a circuit board go out in their furnace knows that it costs appx. $450 to replace and as he says we discounted it to $350. Perhaps in a year or two, when the member's finds out how good we've really been to him over the years we will welcome him back. Final note: I am not a big fan of extended warranties: however, I can assure you that Extended Warranties on Air Conditioning Equipment is one of the best buys a consumer can make. One serious breakdown over a 10 year period will cost about the same as a 10 year extended parts and labor warranty.

In July, 2009, my a/c system quit entirely. Air Force One was one of 4 companies from which I received estimates ranging up to $10,500 for complete replacement of my HVAC system. (Both the furnace and the compressor were dated 1980's.) Air Force One was not only the lowest estimate by approx. $1000, they were the only company offering a system which qualified for the $1500 Tax Credit. In addition, Rheem, the manufacturer, was offering a $1000 cash rebate; so, my final cost was about $5200. My electricity bill (which had been in excess of $400/mo during the summer months for the first two years I lived in the house) has not been above $225/mo since! They arrived at the time promised, got the entire system installed and working in much less time than I would have thought possible, and left not one scrap of trash or mess for me to deal with. They also have a great deal on twice a year system checkups.
Description of Work: Semi-annual system check-up. Since the original installation, Air Force One has been coming twice a year to check the system. Fall checkup focusses on the furnace. Spring checkup on the a/c. The cost of the service is paid once a year, and I don't remember how much it is, but it is reasonable. . They come on time on the appointment date. They are scrupulous about not leaving dirt or dust behind, and they do a thorough checkup and give me a written report at the end. They have never tried to sell me something during these visits. It's a system checkup, nothing more, nothing less. I recommend them to everyone who asks about an HVAC company in Dallas.

Great! They scheduled me the same day I called and honored my request for a phone call to allow me to leave work only when they were nearby. The technician was polite and smart. He put on shoe covers and kept me informed on everything he learned. Ultimately, a capacitor had began to fail and $95 later (because they discounted me their service charge) I was up and running. With a 15 year old furnace, I feared the worst and felt like Air Force One A/C was honest and respectful. I'll gladly use them again.

Chester was the guy that we dealt with. Angel did the installation. He and his buddy were getting ready to leave and I went upstairs to check it out. One of the things they put on the return wasn't even connected. It was lying on the attic floor. There was cold air blowing out everywhere and he said that was okay. There was trash everywhere in the attic and they had not sealed up certain sections and there was fiberglass insulation just hanging there around the old ducts. It was really, really bad. They said they would be done in a certain amount of time and they weren't. They were there all day literally. I think I spent like 4 days of my life trying to get this done. They were supposed to have it inspected and they didn't. The owner of the company was supposed to check it out and he never showed up. Chester said that the owner was going to come and he decided not to. I found out later that they could have added dampers and they never told me. I don?t trust the quality. I had a guy come from the city to look at it and he said they performed the minimum. They said it was going to take 2 days and it ended up taking 6 or 7 days. They were going to leave with the thing hanging on the attic floor and they said they were done. They basically lied to me. They also damaged the ceiling when they put the returns in and they had to send in a specialist and he was awful.,

From my initial call to completion of my service, everything went extremely well. I told the woman with Air Force One A/C that I found a coupon in my Angie's List catalog for a free service call with repair. We scheduled a time. Kevin was prompt, the office called to inform me when he would be there and if he could come earlier. When I met him at the house he already had his booties on to keep the floors clean. He determined my problem and called for the part. Though he thought one was in Garland it turned out that it was somewhere else. Instead of returning the same day we scheduled for two days later. I was again given a courtesy call telling me Kevin was on his way. He installed the new board quickly, filled out my paper work quickly and left me service contract information and was not pushy. They also give you a jar of jelly on the way out. The owners make it in Canton and it's YUMMY. I will definitely call again and recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I have a hotel style A/C unit in a four seasons sunroom that wasn't cooling. I received my monthly Angie's List catalog and called them because they offered free service call with repair. The initial call was to find out IF they serviced these units. A service man called several hours later quoting me an after hours cost. I told him I just needed service and it was not an emergency. They called the next day to set up an appointment. When Kevin came out he determined I needed a new control board. He quoted both a repair and replacement of the unit. He came out two days later and after about 15 minutes the unit was repaired and the room is now cooling.
