I realize this report covers work done 9 years ago, but I am a recent Angie's List member, and I just had to warn people. The proprietor, Mitch Evans is neat, punctual, and quite pleasant in person. The work was done on time, and without any visible damage. However, I have some major complaints: 1) Soon after the work was completed, my sewer system began to back up. I eventually traced the problem to a crushed main sewer line immediately adjacent to one of the steel piers. I soon found out that such damage is not covered in their contract, so I had to pay for that repair. 2) After a few seasons, it became clear that the movement I had hired him to fix was still occurring. The work they performed did NOT fix the problem I hired them to do. 3) They advertise a lifetime warranty. Well let me tell you, getting hold of Mitch to follow up took an act of Congress. When I finally got hold of him, he initially balked and told me that no adjustments were necessary. After numerous calls and a certified letter letting him know I was serious, I finally got him to send a man out to adjust the piers. Long story short: The worker could not adjust the piers. Some had been cut off too close to the collar, and others were installed at an angle which caused them to bind in the collar. Mitch told his guy to call it a day, and I never saw him again. 4) I talked to him on the phone once since then, and we had a very unpleasant conversation. When he wouldn't return my calls, I drove to the address on his brochure, 3419 Westminster St, Dallas, Suite 311. It turns out that it is a mail receiving facility, with P.O. boxes. I guess Suite 311 means P.O. Box 311. Steer clear of Able Stabilizing.
Description of Work: Installed 11 steel piers to stabilize foundation movement causing problems with the front entry door.

We had several foundation repair companies out a few years ago as we thought the rest of the house might need foundation work, but they all said everything was fine, except for Mitch Evans, owner of Able Stabilizing who said not only did the remainder need repairing, but we also needed the entire inside of the home repaired with piers, and he left in a huff. After this horrible hot summer, we had movement in part of the area he repaired, and we now need the rest of the house repaired. I spoke with him today, and he was so rude. He said it couldn't be anything he did, it had to be the interior of the house, he would only come out if we paid $50, and he was sure it was not his prior work. He also said that if we had the other part of our house fixed by any other foundation repair company, that it would void the lifetime warranty that we have on his work. However, he won't honor it anyway, because without even looking he has already blamed the interior of the home. No where in either contract does it say that we have to pay for him to look at his foundation work that may have moved and caused cracks in the brick and walls in our house in the area his company repaired. Nor does the contract say that if another company works on an entirely different part of our foundation 20 years later that our lifetime warranty would be voided. A contract is legally binding. On top of it he is blaming the problem on something other than his work, without coming to inspect the house. I mentioned that I would get an engineer to check it out, and he said engineers don't know what they are talking about. So he won't honor the Lifetime Warranty no matter what, he'll just add more work and make more money on us. We noticed the other comment from a different customer who said approximately the same thing. Apparently this company is fraudulent, and unwilling to honor it's written contracts and Lifetime Warranties. Buyer beware. We would like him to honor his contract and look at the issue and fix that problem, without stipulations and without "ruining" the rest of our home. And that our Lifetime Warranty remain in existence without new disclaimers.
Description of Work: Able Stabilizing at two different times fixed the parts of our foundation that needed repairing at those times. It covered approximately 2/3 of our home. According to Mitch, the owner of Able Stabilizing, the remainder did not require repair. The first job was done in October of 1988, the second in October of 1991.

He was furious that we wanted him to come back at no cost. He says they didn't say the whole house was guarenteed, but the work he had completed. They will not repair the problems because he says this is a small part of the house not done, however we did have most the home done. Mitch says we would have to pay for this part of the home that was not done the first time. The prices have gone up dramatically. Where we would have had to pay about $5,000.00 for a full home foundation repair a few years back, they now want $9,000.00 for this small portion. Part of this area was worked on previously, too. He left our home slamming the door because we did not pay him $50.00 to look at our foundation problem. My husband told him, when making the appointment, that we were having him out under his guarentee. We were under the assumption, previously, that the entire home was fixed. We were not expecting to have to put more piers in our home to fix the foundation. It seems to be a sneaky way to get around the guarentee.
Description of Work: I had piers put in my home around 1990 to help stabalize the foundation. We were told at that time that Able Stabilizing of Texas took care of all our home's foundation issues. Able Stabilizing claims to have a permenent guarantee. They say, "we will repair your problems permenently, guaranteed." We had Mitch Evans out today, August 17, 2011, under the guarantee to look at where our foundation in lacking. We told him before he came out that we were having him look at our home under the guarantee.
