Due to the heat, the start date had to be rescheduled. They did an excellent job, and I'm satisfied with the operation of the gate. About a week after installation, someone vandalized the electric eyes that need to interface for the gate to open. I called Mike and Robert, who had Miguel come out within 2 hours to repair it.

The finished product was estimated to take 2 weeks. That's exactly what it took and his crew delivered it and installed it perfectly. Robert O'Neal was responsive, charged a fair price and delivered a great product. I would highly recommend him and his company.

Robert and his staff were punctual and completed the job on the compressed schedule that I needed. He was great to deal with. I would absolutely use him in the future.

The came out to see the fence and provide a firm estimate. The suggested a color, which I thought was darker than I'd like, so I asked for something lighter "like the neighbor's fence". They said they would do that, and it's just what I wanted. They told me that there would be some discoloration on the grass beside the fence as the excess stain washed off, but that the grass would come back after a couple of weeks. The grass is taking a bit longer to come back; the stain on the grass is nearly gone, but the grass hasn't fully recovered and it's been 3 months. I'm happy with the results and think the fence looks great.

The quote was within the range of quotes we were getting from other providers -- a little higher than some, but only very slightly, and we got a really good feeling from meeting the two gentlemen who run 78Fence. They were plain-spoken, answered all our questions, and were very upfront about what was involved in the installation, whether it was best to go with solar or hard-wired electrical power, etc. They actually came out and looked at our situation before giving us a quote, which really helped us believe they would stick to their estimate once they had made it. They had a schedule change and were able to fit us in at least a week before they had promised to. The job was finished in two days, just like they said it would be. We had to wait a few days for the electricity to get hooked up (because they had unexpectedly been able to move us up in their schedule), but it ran fine on the battery in the meantime, and they were very responsive to our questions about the process. All services were delivered, as promised, in a very timely manner. We love the gate itself -- it's very handsome -- and these guys were so professional, we will likely call them again when we are ready to finish out our fence in the back. A real pleasure doing business with these guys. I will recommend them to all my friends, and have already done so on Facebook.

He was a really nice. We just haven't had the time to sign yet. We've definitely thought about going with them. I thought he would've probably done a great job. We just haven't had it done yet. I thought the price was sort of high. But we were still willing to deal with him because I thought he would do a really good job. He seemed to really know what he was doing. I would definitely call him back for another estimate if we were going to do it soon.

Did everything promised. Love results.

In general, the job went really well. The workers were here on time and worked tirelessly in the heat. The only issue I had was with the stain after the fence was up and the deck built. It's a cedar fence and deck (and beware of crayon marks on the deck boards. They do not get covered by the stain and don't seem to be fading) and the stain didn't take on some boards or sections of boards. This was really disappointing because it gives everything an unfinished look. I called Robert and he came back out to look at the boards and the crayon marks, but said that the grain of the wood just wouldn't accept the stain. He also said he would try to stain a board with the crayon markings in his workshop and figure out what could be done about that, but I never heard from him after that. If I ever replace a fence again, I would use pre-stained boards without a doubt.

Nothing. He never even called me back. He must be really rich.

Except for unavoidable weather delays, everything went as planned.

My wife has been complaining about the state of our deck for years now. Our deck looked terrible after a previous contractor did a horrible job and failed to complete the service a few years ago. 78 Fence and Stain provided a prompt call back and email of the proposed estimate. Since this was a surprise for my wife they worked with me to coordinate when we were gone on vacation. All of the work was completed when we were out of town. I was pleasantly surprised to return to a fantastic looking deck. The stain matches the rest of the fence in our backyard. I would definitely use them again.

Work done on time and above expectations (they replaced more boards than at first estimated but at no additional cost).

I left a message on 78 Fence's answering machine and promptly received a call back. Because this is a very busy time for fencing contractors, the salesman Mike provided the quote over the phone, but said that if I requested, he would come onsite to give me a more detailed quote. I decided to go with another fence contractor primarily because of price. Of the contractors I dealt with, 78 Fence was the only one who didn't come onsite. No issues with 78 Fence at all and would consider them again in the future.

78Fence did a great job. They were responsive and address all of the questions that I had (via email and phone). The worker who completed the job was professional and friendly - he was patient with us through the process of selecting the paint color. I would definitely call on them again if needed.

Company never returned my initial call for an estimate.

Requested a quote via Angie's list. Mike called me within 15 minutes. He came out two hours later for measurements and was able to provide a quote the next morning. I didn't have the funds for both the staining and post replacement, so I just went with the post replacement. Once I agreed to the contract, they came out the next day and did the work while I was away. Everything looks great and I'm amazed at the speed in which all of this happened. All of my communication was with Mike Hook and he was very professional and courteous.

Mike returned my call and I told him what we were looking for and we scheduled an appointment for him to come out on Friday morning to look at what we were wanting to do. This morning (Friday) he called and said our job was too small for them to do right now but could get to it in about eight weeks. I was a bit shocked and asked him to clarify "are you saying my job is to small", he said yes. This is the first time I've had this experience from an Angie's List company before. Really dissapointed.

We've remodeled our entire home over 8 years and we've used a number of contractors and remodeling companies. 78 Fence Company and Robert O'Neal were, by far, the most professional and conscientious. Robert cares about doing quality work and he made sure to communicate with us through the entire process and he or his staff were always available by phone or text to answer our many questions. We recommend 78 Fence Company to anyone who needs work on decks, gates, patios, fences, pergolas and retaining walls.

During the rain-snow on Christmas Day, we returned home to our rear gate getting stuck while opening. It opened far enough to get the car in to the driveway, then when I tried to move it while pushing the button to have the motor help, we heard a loud bang and the gate stopped. It was able to be pushed all the way open so we could get cars in and out. My concern was that the motor shaft had broken. on the 26th I called Robert at 78 Fence, whom we had used before for maintenance and repairs on our fencing and gates. He called me back from his vacation and let me know a technician would be over as soon as possible. It was late in the afternoon that I got a call from the tech and he asked if it was OK to work on the gate late in the day/early evening. Impressed with the dedication to customer service, I was thrilled to get the work started. It turned out the loud bang was the chain hopping off the sprocket - the gate had frozen to the track and when the motor tried to pull the gate back, the resistance caused the chain to torque over and jump off the sprocket. No major damage, and the chain went back on pretty easily. Since it was time for maintenance on the motor and gate, he continued to work on it and made adjustments-it's perfect again!

The workmanship was very good, they were prompt, and their price was average.

I would've preferred a more consultative, professional approach. A "Not interested" email in a job you have never seen or discussed with the client is a knee jerk, unprofessional response. Moving forward...

I hired Robert over a year ago to do our automated custom designed steel gate and totaly forgot to review his work on Angie's list. I can say that up to now the gate has performed flawlessly and we have received many compliments on it. I was very happy with Robert and his crew. When the installation was complete I had a small list of questions and concerns and they were all addressed quickly, professionally and to our satisfaction. Robert backs up all his work with a warranty. I say this because I have a small problem with my gate operator battery and he is in the process of taking care of it. 78Fence knows the value of good customer service and its because of this that I thought to come back on here and review Roberts company...excellent.

As an engineer, I am very particular with regard to home improvements. I normally am an avid DIYer. However, the task of installing my custom fence of 1400 linear feet was more than my back was asking to install.Robert was punctual, helpful and very informed. He is no fly-by-night installer. He and his team of installers were thorough and attentive to the details of the fence design and installation. In addition, he always held true to his word. I recommend him and his team of installers for any fencing job.
