I would not recommend them. After all was said and done it was okay. They people they actually hired to do the job were awful. They tried to cut corners. We asked for hardiplank and cedar boards for the replacement and they tried to put in yellow pine. One time, they knocked a hole into the plumbing and we had this huge geyser and it wasn't until after they left that we saw it and we had to go running after them to point out that they messed up the plumbing. They fixed it but they were sure ready to leave before we found out about it. It was a dark gray roof and they put some white sealant so it had these white specks every so often. I pointed that out and they did change it.

Looking back it was a terrible experience. Would never let the Easterling family do any work for me.
Description of Work: A complete roofing job in 1998 and then repair in 2009. Because the roof is high, almost 25 feet off the ground, we never went up and looked at the work. Recently we had a different contractor come to the house for another issue and he did a courtesy inspection of the roof. Fortunately he took his camera. What he saw was astounding: cracked shingles (50 year warranty), exposed nails, caulking and siding used to "repair broken shingles". It is unethical. Now the company is under the assumed name of ALE Enterprises, don't use them either!

Work done sporadically, haphazardly and at their convenience. Work was not done as we were told it would be done, they did not finish painting and was sloppy work. They were undependable, erratic, rude and inaccessible management was unreliable.
Description of Work: We held back $500, a lot was incomplete. As in contract they were suppose to paint exterior of house twice trim, replace worn siding, prepare surface for painting and work as promised. Be done in no more than three days, after a week work still not finished.

Aztec did a reasonable good job on the roof replacement. They were professional and completed the work on schedule. They cleaned up afterwards. HOWEVER, long after the work had been done I discovered that they had failed to properly reconnect the exhaust vent from the gas hot water heater where it penetrated through the roof. The hot water heater was pumping carbon monoxide gas into our attic area - a very dangerous situation. We called and emailed Aztec numerous times always getting their answering service. We left detailed messages about the problem and the serious risks it posed to our family. We never received a return call from anyone at Aztec to investigate or correct the problem. Given this failure to respond I would not use them again, nor could I recommend them which is unfortunate as they otherwise did a fine job.

NOT WELL ! They were to have sent a team of people. Was mostly one carpenter and not even all day. The so called supervisor was rarely there, they were in a hurry and broke water pipe. Did not prepare house properly to paint contract stated. Two coats of paint and they only painted one coat and it was sloppily done. Supposed to be a three day job and after. I definitely will NOT use them again ! Six day job still not complete, still waiting to have job completed ! Now to add to the complaint, we find that when AZTEC put our new roof on, in the month previous. They did not put the screens in the new tubines !!!!
Description of Work: They were supposed to replaced the worn siding, repair some of the rotten wood, and replace some of it. House is 27 years old. They were supposed to repair and prepare house for painting, and paint 2 coats and trim. Also put 6" handi-plank boom all along -bottom of siding.

I was told Aztec Roofing was a great company, so after the hailstorm in 2004, I hired them to replace my roof. The sales team was great, but when the crew came out to do the job, the nails they used were too long, and they pierced through the underside of my eaves. It was after business hours when I saw it, so I left a message. I never received a return call, but the next day, the crew was back to hammer the nails back up through the wood. So, the wood in the soffit was thoroughly damaged. I called again to complain, and the owner came by to inspect my house. He said that the crew had to use nails that went all the way through the wood to hold the shingles down, and he acted like I was crazy to complain. He said that it was the exterior of my house, and not a fine piece of furniture. I kept complaining until they finally agreed to resolve the problems. Additionally, Aztec Roofing used three completely different styles of flashing for the drip edge, which had to be replaced just to make things look consistent. I will skip over some of the frustrations that took place throughout the process, but overall, it took over 6 months to get the most obvious problems resolved. Three years later, in 2007, the soffits had rust spots all over them where the nails were hammered too far through the wood. I contacted Aztec Roofing again to request they come correct the problem, and I was told that someone would contact me to fix things. No one ever contacted me, and I took it upon myself to repair the problems on my own rather than have to put up with their abysmal customer service again.

It went pretty well. The salesman actually left the company during the project and he was very good. He gave me a lot of advice on how to get everything finished as promised. His advice was pretty good because in just trying to get a receipt for the job they wouldn't return my calls. It was pretty much general contracting advice such as don't pay until the job is 100 percent done.

October 2005, first received certificate of liability from Aztec Roofing & Siding. 1-31-06 contract proposal. 2-1-06 contract invoice for start of project. Email 1-12-06 from Aztec representative Dennis Jordan stated it takes 2-3 weeks for windows to be custom made and a few days to be installed. Multiple no shows to our home for windows to be installed. 2 credit card payments over $4,000 already paid by us. 5-15-06, yes, May of 2006, windows finally finished being installed. Still not having proper locks, we continued for days to contact Aztek for new locks. They left them in a bag at our front door for us to install. 10-13-08 called company about screen frame warping. 5-5-09 last contact with Aztec, they will not fix screen frames. I sent complaint to Better Business Bureau. Nothing after that, they said nothing could be done. I do not have reply paperwork from BBB, but receipt of complaint to them.

The job went BETTER than anticipated. {We had checked out several siding jobs in our general area from Aztec's reference list, and all 3 jobs looked really good.} We had an exceptional crew ---courteous,responsive to our concerns, creative in their work, cleaning up after the day's work. Management acted just as they said they would, coming daily to inspect the job, picking up payments as the work progressed, responding to non-major changes we made along the way. This was a big job, and Aztec's performance was exemplary. They even did a special trim configuration around the many windows, doing one window first to see if we liked it. We really liked it ! We had difficulty settling on the exterior paint color, and we all had several "Think Tank" color sessions, and they were so patient with us. They mixed and tested until we came up with just the right color. We all laughed about the process. When the work was finished, they cleaned up the yard and handled the Punch List with efficiency and courtesy. We were happy to be on their list of satisfied customers, serving as a reference for their good work. This long standing, family owned company is just the kind of business we love doing business with.

We had roof damage from normal aging and hail assault. Aztec removed the old roofing material, taking care not to damage our landscaping or the exterior paint. They installed 30 year shingles, painted trim around the roof, and painted interior fascia, the garage door and trim, and roof vents. They had to use 2 different paint colors on the parts of the roof, and they got it right. They installed a roof vent turbin and replaced 10 damaged solar screens. They accidentally tore the screening on one of the new screens, so they re-screened it and installed it. They accomplished this in an organized fashion in just a few days, and then a supervisor inspected the work to our satisfaction. It meant a lot to us that the crew was courteous and professional and did not make a mess of our yard. Someone was on hand to speak English, which was helpful.
Description of Work: Re-roofed our house, using approximately 17.00 squares. Added a roof vent turbin. Replaced 10 solar screens.

Contacted Aztec based upon a good Angie's List rating. I have relocated to another state and I was back in Austin for a short period. I contacted Aztec and they had their estimator Bill call me back. I scheduled an appointment with Bill. Bill arrived on time and definitely knew his business. We spent about 30 minutes going over the list of items that I needed resided or repaired. Due to my limited availability in Austin I told Bill that I was looking for a quote within several days as I wanted to finalize the contract before I left Austin. Bill got me a quote right away and my wife and I decided to use Aztec for the job. Aztec got started right away and the job progressed fairly smoothly until the final stages. In general the siding work they did was excellent but they just never quite finished the job. The first indication of trouble was shortly after I received an email with the final invoice. This was several weeks after they had started the job and the job was due to be completed in this timing. I just happened to be returning to Austin the next day so I was excited to see the finished job. Upon arrival at the house I noticed that a decorative shingle area under one eave didn't look like the paint had covered completely. This was one of the special areas I had focused on with Bill during the estimate. We had agreed to leave the unpainted shingles in place (vs. replacing them with siding) and just having them painted. Several coats were going to be required. Aztec just didn't follow up to make sure they were properly painted. The next issue I noticed was that the painted front door had several spots where the paint was missing. Apparently they had closed the door before it was completely dry and several areas stuck to the door frame pulling off the paint. The last item was the electrical boxes. The boxes (electric meter, cable, circuit breakers) were just hanging off the back of the house by their wires. I contacted Aztec and Julio the supervisor came out. I identified the problem areas and Julio, after asking if I was going to make a payment to him, said he would have someone out to fix everything. Well it took over a month to get the eaves repainted. The front door was never repainted but Aztec returned the house key so I decided to just fix it myself. Someone did come out about 3 weeks later to attach the boxes but they did not attach the electric meter box to the house. It was just "supported" by the wires. I continued to complain to Aztec and they finally sent someone out to attach the meter (requires meter seal to be broken). Unfortunately they didn't coordinate with City of Austin Electric utility. They just pulled the meter, attached the box, and reinstalled the meter. They attempted to reuse the same seal that was on there. This issue is yet unresolved. I will say that Bill, the estimator, was responsive to my emails during this period. I continued to get "final" invoices during the whole period.
Description of Work: I recently relocated and needed to have some exterior and interior work done on my house in Austin in preparation for sale. I was looking for a contractor to perform the following services: Exterior Siding and Trim replacement, Soffit repair, Exterior Painting.

This company was one of several suggested by State Farm Insurance. They were very prompt in scheduling an appointment for an estimate and explained the estimate in detail. Their office called to arrange a convenient date for materials to be delivered and the crew arrived exactly when we had agreed. Work was completed promptly and both the job foreman and the owner came by to check on the work and the cleanup. The cleanup was immaculate. All of my interactions with the company were professional and pleasant.

Fair to bad. It started poorly when I was awakened very early one Sunday morning by a crew unloading shingles on to my roof when I had been told to expect them the next day. The salesman was on another planet than the actual work crew and I had difficulty at several points being able to get in touch with the sales guy about little issues that needed to be corrected. They did a bad clean up job and made no attempt to protect plants or flower beds...Years later I'm still picking up roofing nails from my lawn. The kiss of death was the day I returned home from my full time job to find that the crew had used my backyard as a toilet, with toilet tissue and all. When I reported this to the owner, his only response was "I'm sorry". The work was done but it was NOT a good experience and I'm happy to protect others from the same.

In July, we discovered water leaking into the guest room closet. Danny Peralles, Aztec contact was hired by our builder for the repair. After 2 weeks, Aztec, finally sent someone out to repair the roof, or so we thought. It turned out they hired 2 guys that day, they took a bucket of tar and spread it on a couple areas of the flashing with a broken board. The next rain, it leaked again. This time Aztec removed several of the concrete tiles, moved the strips that hold them into place and used wire to keep the tiles from sliding down the roof. Next rain, still leaking, I was informed they would need to replace the flashing, tar paper, stucco, and cut the tiles to keep them from sliding against the house. The flashing and stucco needed to be contracted to other vendors through our builder, apparently Aztec was unable to do the complete job. The flashing was replaced, the tar-paper replaced, however the tiles were never put back into place, & as it rains this morning, the leak continues.

Roofing representative was prompt about the bid and by far the least expensive from all of the other bids. They were recommended to us by our home inspector when we first bought our house. Old roof removal and installation was quick and spanned over just a few days because it did rain one of those days. Flashing was not installed correctly around our chimney however. We called to have it fixed, but "fixing" was just caulking up the area; no new flashing at all. Thinking that the flashing was fixed, we have the interior water damage fixed by another contractor. Soon enough, when it rained again, it started leaking in the same area. It took them several months to come back and fix it and it the mean time we had to just put buckets in the area to catch all the rain water. After they did the re-roof it was very close to impossible to get them to come back out and fix their mistake. The office manager never returned our calls, and we had to call back repeatedly. NO RECOMMENDED!

I had a mixed experience with Aztec. The sales rep was excellent answered questions promptly, returned calls, and met with my insurance adjuster. Once the job was started, the crew worked quickly. My old roof was removed and the new one installed within a two day span. Overall, I'm impressed with the quality of the shingle installation. This is where things turned bad: Damaged gutters. They did not use ladder stabilizers. I witnessed the crew leaning their ladders directly on my gutters. Unacceptable for a professional roofing company. I reported this to the office but no one seemed to care. Inability or unwillingness to repair damaged gutters. It took two weeks of repeated calls to their office for them to send someone out. Several times I was told someone would come but they never showed. I always got the runaround from their office. They finally came and "fixed" the gutters, but the repair is poor and the gutter leaks where damaged. I cannot recommend Aztec.

I had to call Aztec after a severe windstorm had knocked off some of the shingles on my roof. They were able to come right out and fix the roof in no time flat.
