David Perry is a no nonsense type of guy. He tells you what you are getting and checks on the process constantly. He has clean up crews come in during different parts of the build. And the clean up crews do a great job. I would hire David again in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: David Perry is a very hands-on owner. He told us our pool would take 3-4 weeks to finish and he was right. We actually got a spool, which is a small pool with jets and a heater. This way we can use it year round.

Description of Work: David Perry was an absolute pleasure to work with. We would hire him again in a heartbeat - no questions asked. He was on the site everyday during construction making sure that things were on track. A few issues arose during the construction, but they were handled promptly and professionally. We are 100% pleased with our pool!

Perry Pools is a wonderful company to work with. He listened to what we wanted in a pool and adjusted designs accordingly. Being first time pool owners we were a bit clueless. But he helped point out important features and worked with us in the price range we were looking for. His office staff has been great throughout the process and after with follow up questions and any issues we had (which have been minimal).
Description of Work: Built an I ground swimming pool with a spa, rock waterfall feature and sun deck

Even though not their fault for the problems wiht the hot tub, their prices were high. The parts were nothing but the labor was very unreasonable. Couldn't get a better price on the parts though but the labor killed us.
Description of Work: Fix the motor and other problems with the hot tub.

He's extremely thorough and really serious about maintaining the chemical levels in the pool. It's very important to him that they be spot-on.

Construction began exactly on time and progressed steadily despite some rather harsh weather. I've heard countless horror stories about pools taking a year or more to install, but the Perry team was there when they said they would be, doing what we had agreed upon. Everything went like clockwork from start to finish.
Description of Work: David Perry was one of the best professionals I've ever worked with. He showed up on time, explained all the options, and answered our questions fully. He explained the pros and cons of designs for our yard, and installed a gorgeous pool. What really impressed me was that he said he'd be through in 30 days, and despite the wettest June on record, was still finished on time. The other thing that I found incredible was when I asked for references, he told me to come to his office and pull any file and call the customer. You just can't beat a track record like that. I also appreciate the fact that even after seven years, David remembers me when I call, and always takes time to answer my questions. Our pool has been a wonderful addition to the home, bringing many hours of fun in the sun. David Perry and his team come with my highest recommendation.

Update! It's been 2 years and our pool is still as beautiful as the day it was installed. I wanted to let anyone looking for a quality product that Perry Pools does deliver a quality product! Other than replacing the cleaner (which is normal wear and tear), this pool is in perfect condition! Thank you Perry Pools! Original Input about the installation: Overall we love our pool and patio and Perry did an excellent job. The B rating comes from the gotchas and learning the pool process. Does Perry know how to build pools, yes. We had 5 bids for our pool and patio. Mr. Perry is came out and gave us the quote. He is also the person who designed the pool and builds the pools. He knows the entire process where other companies didn't. All the other companies sent salesmen and in some cases, they couldn't quite answer the questions. Perry came under all of them and still provided exactly what we wanted. During the initial assessment, Mr. Perry told us that he would hit the sewer line, almost guaranteed. No other pool company mentioned this. Everyone told us about the additional cost to move the gas line (to reach the heater), but no one mentioned the sewer line but Perry. He also told us it would cost $800 if he did have to move the sewer line. When we got the quote, the sewer move was not noted. Once we selected Perry, they immeidately began the paperwork needed for the architectual review for our home owners association. We noticed that even on the architectual review for our home owners association, Perry noted that the sewer line would have to be moved. Even though it was still only a and quot;possibilityand quot; when presented to us. Once they began the dig, they hit the sewer line (we've got it on video). What was more shocking was how they fixed it so that they could continue to work. They fixed it by putting a temporoary pipe across the pool with a rod holding it somewhat upright. We lost water for 2 days while this fix was being performed. Then, even after the gunite was added (the first layer of concrete), we got to watch our raw sewage dump into the bottom of the pool. The dig and the gunite (the first layer of concrete happens all in the same week) is fun to watch; however, the sewer line did not get rerouted until the end of the week. They hit the line on Monday and it was fixed on Friday; however, it would have been much longer if it were not for the sewage backing up into our house. Perry had planned the repair to occur the following week, but on Friday morning it backed up into our house!! Two inches of raw sewage (poop and all) rose up into the showers, tubs, etc.). It was disgusting and a mess to clean up (which we had to do). When we called Perry to inform them of the backup, they did get a plumber out that day to fix it. It still gets us that he knew they were going to hit it so they should have planned for this ahead of time and it should have been added it to the quote so that we wouldn't have been shocked when told we had to pay the additional money. After this, everything went smoothly. Perry constantly checked on the work and was on top of any issues during the build. He's very observant and he's dedicated to getting everything right. He also added little extras, like two umbrella stands because he thought it would be nice (at no extra cost). The patio company he brought in to build the patio was excellent. The patio is beautiful. Building a pool occurs in phases and each activity requires a different team. First there's the dig, the gunite, the plumbing, the electrician, the tile work, the plaster, the final setups. All very fascinating to watch, and it does leave your yard looking like a war zone. I would have liked to have had a schedule and list from Perry explaining what each step was and when to expect it. However, with that said, each time I called to ask questions, they were very responsive. I personally would have liked something up front in writing. Also, we learned that it's important to plan ahead. Make sure you pick your tile way before it's time to install it. We picked it at the last minute and didn't go to a lot of places. The day of tile installation, the company we ordered the tile from gave our tile to another company because another order trumped ours. Luckily, we were able to go to a different company that same morning and pick something else and it ended up being a better pick. And the tile installers were happy to drive to the other tile company location and pick it up. I think the only other problem we had was when the electrician accidentally disconnected the power to our sprinkler system. It did take a few weeks to get this fixed because we were waiting on the electrician's schedule to open up. Also, if your building a pool, please ensure to have anywhere from $5000 - $10000 extra available for those issues that pop up. I wish Perry would have mentioned them, though some were outside of Perry's control. Water bill cost to fill the pool, electric bill spike from initial setup, pool equipment (furniture), chemicals, resodding grass areas that were destroyed during the install, adding gravel to places that need extra drainage (i.e. around the pump)m and landscaping were all things that we didn't plan for. The whole process, including the patio build, took approx. 8 weeks. I would definitely suggest Perry Pools. Just make sure that if he mentions any issues at the beginning, to get them on your quote so that you know what to expect at all times. Perry will not sugar coat the process. He's upfront and does deliver.
Description of Work: Perry installed a 20,000 gallon, 16'x30' oblong pool, 4' on one end, 7.5' on the other. The pool has a 1' tanning shelf, a fountain wall with 3 cascading fountains, and a hot tub that is 1.5' higher than the pool that has a cascading water fall of coping back into the pool. Within the same contract, we had our old patio (just a breezeway) demo'd and a new patio, 15'x18' patio that seemlessly connects to our roofline. They had to bust out the old concrete and some of the brick of our house and then they rebuilt the house brick. The decking is the same around the pool and on the patio.

Not a horrible experience, but certainly not one worthy of my family's hard earned money.
Description of Work: We contacted Perry Pools for a bid and design on a new, inground swimming pool. The owner came out to our home within a reasonable amount of time. However, while inspecting the backyard property he negatively talked about our neighbor's pool builder and the quaility of that pool. Additionally, he told us he would not contact our HOA to move the fence line up. He claimed they would not even notice. I beg to differ. We waited 3 weeks for a bid and design, after I called twice asking for it. Upon the second call, I was told the design was almost done. Overall, communication and response time was very slow. I feel that because we did not want an extravagant pool with tons of features, our business was not valuable to Perry Pools. I would not recommend Perry Pools at all.

We used Perry Pools based on positive references from others that had used Perry. It became clear very early that David Perry takes a great deal of pride in designing and building pools. His background is he used to do the grunt work for many years before building pools on his own, such as doing the rebar and gunite, so he is very knowledgable. Our experience went very well. David moves quickly on the project, so if the weather cooperates you can have a pool completed in about 4 weeks. He is also there in person during the important phases of the project and he stops by himself routinely to make sure the job is done right. Perry Pools will not be the lowest price contractor, but you will get a top quality pool with Perry Pools. I would defintely use Perry Pools again.
Description of Work: Perry Pools was the general contractor for my pool and outdoor kitchen.

He is rated as one of the top pool people in a magazine, and I found him because 3 of my neighbors have used him. I went by word of mouth because he was middle of the road price wise. We had 5 bids, and he was the only one that didn't have any negative reports against him. He does some part of the work, and if we are satisfied we can go ahead with the rest of it. He finished the work in less than 3 weeks, which is very unusual. We had good weather when the work was in progress. He comes out and checks the work. He uses the same crew over and over again. He came and helped me pick up files and everything. I have had an excellent experience with him. My hot tub gas went out a weekend, and I called him to ask about that. He sent somebody out on a Sunday, and I didn't expect such a quick response.
Description of Work: He built a 38-feet pool for us a couple of years ago. He also built us a 7 foot hot tub.
