It was a Saturday, and after I'd tried (and failed) to repair my tub spout myself, I called my usual plumbing company. It would cost time and a half because it was on a weekend, and a plumber could not come until about 9 p.m. So I took a leap and called Joe the Plumber, a smaller company in my town. The man who answered (Vince), told me he could come right away. Thirty minutes later he was at my doorstep. After examining my problem, there was a need to go to a hardware supplier and get another tub spout with an adapter kit. Vince offered to wait while I went, but eventually, he went and picked up the part. Vince made the repair and now my tub works well again. Throughout this process, I looked at Vince as a friend, a good guy, not just a company I had hired. Vince was very professional, the cost was reasonable, and I received a very professional e-mailed receipt with a 30 day labor warranty included. I will definitely go back to this plumbing company, and ask specifically for Vince to do any further work for me.
Description of Work: This provider repaired a tub spout in my home.

All toilets, tub and sinks were stopped up and toilet was backing up into tub. The toilet was pulled out and snaked but was not long enough to reach the clog. The clean out drain could not be found. So camera was put in and was found to lead into neighbors front yard. So hole was dug in neighboring yard and sewer pipe was found to be broken. So all sewage was cleaned out and pipe replaced and clean out drain was put in. Unfortunately it is in the neighbors yard. The clog was from years of grease being put in the kitchen sink. Very nice young man by the name if Matt, very polite and very patient. He came back when he said he would and on time.

If I could give a B+ or A- I would have done that. The man who came out was early to the appointment, curtious , nice, and professional. The only reason for not using them again and wanting to give a lower grade is the price. I wish I would have checked Angie's list earlier but it seems this was a high price to pay for this service. Had I checked I would have noticed the average price for a hot water flush is around $150 (give or take a little). Either way the service was provided and we will go with a more reasonably priced company when we need to replace both water heaters.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with the service done. That is our priority. But on the other hand we regret that you are not satisfied with the price. Although, the amount of $267 was not only for the water heater flush. We did some more work for you, like secure the water lines. Our price is always given before any work is done. Customer agreed price.

My niece had water standing beside the house and had called several plumber out to find and fix. They gave several quotes and guess too the problem. I was visiting and dug it up and found the problem. Called several plumber and all were booked up. Called Joe's at 5pm and the lady that answered was very pleasant. I asked if it could be repaired tonight. She said wait a moment and very shortly came back that someone could be there between 5:30 and 6:30pm and I said that would be great. Richard called a little before 5:30 that was running a little late. He was here before 6 and done before 7. He took a $100 off for having it already dug out. My niece was so please, she told Richard she had other work to be do and other people in her office were needing plumbing work and ask for his cards to take to work. He was very knowledgeable and already had the parts needed on his van. He was very pleasant.

The plumber, Jhony, came out and assessed the problem accurately. All that needed done was to have the toilet flow valve replaced. ( He did not replace the whole inside of the tank). He told me it was going to be $187. I said that was too expensive! Then he came down to $167 and I told him that was still too expensive and to never mind I would shop around some more. Then he says, "ok, $147, but that's as low as I can go and only this time". I allowed him to do the job( and now regret it very much) not knowing it would only take 5 minutes. After he left I looked up the part online and it cost anywhere between $8-$15 dollars!!! Jhony also told me he was very tired and had too much work to do. Is that what you tell customers these days?? I immediately called the office and spoke with Ann. She told me they have flat fees for certain jobs and I told her I was never told that when I called to make the appointment. She apologized for Jhony's statement and told me she would talk to Joe, the owner, about the cost and call me back that day or on Monday. I never heard from her!!! I will never use Joe the Plumber again and I suggest you don't either unless you have lots of money to throw away!

One more review which allow Joe the Plumber to explain to customers how the company works. It doesn’t matter if the job takes 5 minutes, 2 hours or a week the price is just one. The rate that permits the company to send an experience technician to do something that you can’t. The replacement part could cost $ 1 or $ 20 but the thing is that you as a customer don’t know how to do the job. You are paying more than the cost of the part, you are paying his experience, the responsibility to come back in case something would wrong, an insured company behind him, plus his 5 minutes at your house and I could mention many, many things behind the $ 147 that he charged to you working practically for free because the discount amount he gave you was almost his commission for doing the job. But he preferred a happy customer instead of getting a complaint. And YES, he was tired, because we had a hard week, remember we work 24/7 to serve our customers anytime, responding to any emergency. Should be punished for that? And YES, you talked to me. We sent the tech. to your house and he gave you the price before starting the job and you accepted, you had the chance to say no. I talked to Mr. Joe and I called you 2 times after 2 p.m. because I put attention in our conversation and remember when you told me you work overnight. You never answered my calls. But it is a pity that you decided not to use Joe the Plumber anymore because your name is in the list of the gift certificates to send to the customers this week on top of my desk. Thanks for your review anyway and thanks for your business.

We can’t understand how a customer can take the time to put a review like that giving Joe the Plumber a D in responsiveness when we set up an appointment on Saturday for this customer and being our tech arriving the house he called the office and reschedule for Sunday and we came back to Katy the day after first time in the morning to resolve the problem. Because we did service. We re-lite his water heater making the unit working again. Our mission us a company is to make happy customers but don’t forget that every review is also for our techs, reviews are the motto for each one to work harder every day to serve our customers and it is completely unfair for a person who on Sunday (a family day) leaving his family behind to go to work receives a negative review like that with no reason at all.

Water got cold in the house a few days back. Contacted Joe the Plumber at 11am and was able to schedule an appointment for when I got off work at 4pm which was convenient. Our tech was Jhony or at least that was what was written on the invoice. Big problem I had with the service is the Hispanic repair man barely spoke English and I had a VERY hard time understanding much of what he was telling me or asking me. I felt that I could have learned a little if someone spoke decent English. The cost of $147 for something that was so simple seemed very high. Probably wouldn't use the service company again based on high price and technicians barely know English.

Thank you so much for your review. This is the first time we have a complaint against a tech because of his language. This is a multicultural country, and Joe the Plumber doesn’t discriminate. Joe the Plumber gives equal opportunities to all its employees to grow and work in a company which is proud to have Jhony as a part of its staff because of his professionalism, because he is an example for all of us improving his English every day and showing us there are no limits when somebody wants to grow in its profession. Joe the Plumber doesn’t charge depending the time the tech spend on site Joe the Plumber charged for the knowledge offering life time warranty for its labor. We regret that you, as a customer couldn’t learned anything from him because the gran lesson he has given to our company is that he, as a plumber with his indecent English does a work that others with excellent English can’t do. And also I don’t see any complaint on the job.

The technician appeared to be new, but worked hard to get the job done right. We knew of flapper needing repair on the one toilet but wanted to replace the other toilet. He fixed the flapper issue just fine, but had problems getting the new toilet to fit/line up. He made some suggestions in order to get it to fit, though none sounded appropriate, so we did not consent. He ended up putting back on the old toilet and taking the new toilet back. We later learned the issue was with the new toilet, due to it being warped. He brought another one the next day, and it has the same issue (warped), so again old toilet put back on. The third toilet brought later that same day had no defects, was installed with no problems, and works great. We were not charged for the flapper replairment. Despite the warped toilet issues, the technician and others with Joe The Plumber worked diligently to ensure customer satisfaction, which they did. We would use them again.

We hired Joe the Plumber to perform several jobs in our home; Matt was the plumber who performed the work. He did a range of jobs including rough-in for a pedestal sink, rough-in and install shower diverter valves and most significantly moving our master shower drain and toilet vent line. This work totaled over $3000. The work in our master bath is the biggest, but albeit far from the only issue, so I?ll start there. Matt relocated the shower drain from the end to the center of the shower floor and moved the toilet vent line. While moving the shower drain he pounded on the wall so hard he broke some of our expensive frame and panel trim located on the other side of the wall in our living room. The repair estimate to fix this issue is $450. He said he?d get it fixed, but that was well over seven months ago and there is no sign of a repair so far. We have suspected for some time that we might have a leak in this area because our hardwood floors started turning brown and buckling so we had a leak detection test done by a company that specializes in leak detection. The cost of the test was also $450. As we feared, there is a leak in the drain right where Matt broke the paneling, which is exactly where the shower drain and vent line joins the existing sewer line. Matt also jack hammered around toilet drain in an effort to remove and replace it with a new one, but gave up when it proved too difficult. At this point in time we don?t know if the toilet vent or drain are also leaking since they could not be tested until the current leak is fixed. That will be another few hundred dollars to test once the leak gets fixed. The estimate to repair Matt?s leaking drain is $4000!! When it came to the finish work, things were no better. In the master shower Matt deeply scratched (then denied doing it) a marble tile right at the fixture he installed, which is itself not level and does not project from the wall evenly. I had to buy a $50 stone repair kit to fix the scratch. In the upstairs bath he initially installed the shower head rough-in too low (below code height) and had to come back to fix it; then he installed our three handle shower diverter crooked, which we did not notice until the marble tile got installed around it and it became obvious since the grout lines made it stand out. When my wife informed him of this he told her that it was too late to fix the problem because he did not have access to the valve body at that point the since the marble tile was already in place. When I heard that from my wife, I removed the tiles that were in the way and invited Matt back so he could correct the diverter. When he came to make the fix he told me that there was no need to take down any tile and that it was a simple five minute fix (which indeed it was). After he left, my wife and I talked and discovered his deception. We confronted him together on the phone whereupon he said that he had told my wife that he could not straighten the valve until he had fixed the tub filler stub-in (the pipe that holds the tub faucet). In fact, the tub filler stub-in has nothing to do with the orientation of the valve. More telling, he made the fix to the valve still without ever having fixed the tub filler stub-in. I had to do that myself. The cost of having the tile replaced was $135. Additionally, when we voiced our displeasure to Matt about the variety of issues we had, he informed us that Joe (the company owner) had told him to stop coming out to us because we were too picky and not worth the time. We struggled to get Matt to come out to our property and when he did make it he was always rushed and in a hurry; it seemed like he was doing us a favor every time by stopping by and finishing his work. We also had to block our phone number several times when we called the company just to get someone to take our calls. When we finally did get to talk to the owner he said any damages were the responsibility of the technician that did the work (Matt) and not his. About three weeks ago I again called the company and attempted to speak with Joe, but he was not available. I informed the front desk very clearly that I expected Joe to contact me or the next communication would come from Angie?s List. So far no call.
Description of Work: He replumbed our master shower. He also worked on two other bathrooms in the house.

Job was performed according to the contract. Customer was indecisive about everything that was done. Customer keep making amends to the contract and was back and forth on what fixtures to install. Customer fired tile guy removing all tile that was installed around bath tub shower and fixtures two times. Payment was collected only work that was finished. Customer says while moving the shower drain tech pounded on the wall but to relocate the shower drain technician jack hammered concrete but never touched the wall. We never said we would it fixed because this is not true. The wall was already damaged before starting the job. Picture attached. She is making reference to a leak in the same area. Not true. All pipes were water test before close. Customer fired tile guy after he covered shower pan and hired new tile guy. JTP performed shower pan test and tested drain lines after work was done. Second time. She says Tech scratched marble tile in the master shower. Another lie. Tech never touched tile wall in master shower. She says that in upstairs bath JTP installed the shower head rough in too low. This is another lie. Customer changed the height of the shower head 3 times. Customer called JTP saying Tech installed a three handle shower diverter crooked and stated that JTP says it was too late to fix the problem because he did not have access to the valve because the tile was already in place. When the truth is that if this was true he would straighten it up when he put the trim on. No one tell this person to remove tile. The customer trusting his wife removed the tiles and invited JTP tech to come back and do it. When JTP come back to fix it Tech told her husband there was no need to take down any tile and that it was a simple 5 minutes fix. BIG LIE. JTP like a service company has a person 24 hrs answering phone calls and nobody has to block the phone number to be answered. We attached some pictures to see the quality of JTP work. And we invited you to go through all our reviews in Angie’s list to see if we have any complaints about this Tech. We are proud to say that he is our field supervisor because of his professionalism and thanks to all the reviews he got this position with JTP. Never Mr. Joe would say something like that the damages are responsibility of the technician that did the work and not his. Joe the Plumber staff is a team, we work like a team but Mr. Joe is responsible for everything because he is the owner of the company. JTP never step away from any job but JTP is not going to assume responsibility for mistakes or issues that they not belong to us. It is not professional accept the customer desire resolution just to make the customer happy when they never will be happy with us and returning money that the technician fairly earned doing his job. This defamation against JTP is unacceptable. We need from this customer to supply: Invoice from the Company who made the repairs and license number. Invoice and Name of the Company who made the leak detection test. Contact information for these Companies. Pictures before and after. Proof of Certificate of Insurance of these companies too. And just because the customer had another company touched our work per our contract voids our warranty.

I have been satisfied every time and they haven't been outrageous in their pricing. They did a good job. I highly recommend them. They were reasonable every time I used them. They said it looked like they had attempted a repair sometime in the past and the pipe just collapsed. They used inferior materials. Though he put in a PVC but what was there was very flexible. They are congenial and they answer my calls right away. They usually try to get somebody out within a few hours so that they can do it or give me a time frame that's reasonable as soon as possible. I have used them over and over.
Description of Work: I found a leak and Joe the Plumber took care of it. It was a small job, but they found another big problem. We have a septic system in our subdivision and he found the problem with that, and repaired it. The pipe had collapsed under concrete. They discovered the fractured end of the pipe leading from the house to the septic system.

They informed us that there was a clog. They fixed it in 5 minutes. When we asked for an invoice they said it would be free of charge. We will use them in the future. They were highly professional and courteous.
Description of Work: We thought we had an improperly working disposal.
