About us

H-Towne Remodelers is a full service remodeling company in Houston, TX. We specialize in all types of remodeling, with expertise in room additions, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, and custom patios and porches. No project is too big or too small! If you're looking for superb Houston remodelers, we've got you covered! We provide free estimates and design work for our customers. Our prices are competitive and we will bend over backwards to make the project a reality for you. As a general contractor, although most of our people are sub-contractors they are real tradesman that have worked with us for many years. Unlike other contracting companies we do not bid out your job to the lowest bidder, we continue to use our same people job after job. This translates into a worry free project for you and us. The owner, J.R Smith is the recipient of two NARI Contractor Of The Year awards while he was contracted out to a well known remodeling company in Houston. These projects competed against many other beautiful projects in the area. Unlike some of the other contractors out there who refuse to break out the job costs on a project, H-Towne Remodelers does not use "smoke and mirrors" with our estimates. We detail the job in full and attach a price to each item. This transparency wins us many bids because we truly put the cards on the table. H-Towne Remodelers has no desire to be the largest remodeling company around. We believe in quality not quantity. Although our business is growing nicely, we are proud to grow the right way, happily putting our name on every job. Many "production" remodelers pride themselves on how many jobs they can blow through, we like to enjoy the process of transforming our clients home with attention to detail. Having said that, we have very little dead time on our jobs, we stay on top of them daily. We normally accomplish around one thousand dollars of production daily on jobs under $30,000. That amount normally increases to closer to $1500.00 per day of production on bigger jobs. During the job we are always reachable, our sales staff have smart phones so they can be reached anytime either through phone calls, emails or text messages. We also like to keep our customers informed during the projects by those methods also. You can check us out at H-Towneremodelers.com we would love the opportunity to look at your project.

Overall: Excellent. JR is especially good at suggesting alternate, cost effective solution with the idea of home value appreciation % in mind. He walked around the house from closet to closet to find out if he can offer anything else to match my requirement within the budget I had. They are not out there to get your money, rather help you get to your requirements with your budget. I needed a skylight in my room and JR came up with a sun tunnel idea which was a no-leak and less expensive way to bring in daylight. THE best idea. It brings in SO MUCH natural light, lends a beautiful warm look to the room for half the price of the skylight. In fact, we are thinking of getting one more sun tunnel in our game room! All his subcontractors are very professional and more importantly, trustworthy. Jesus Dias was my construction subcontractor and his team was absolutely fantastic. Perfect work, left my home absolutely clean once done. I highly recommend JR's team. You will not be disappointed. PS: the room is a 100 times better in person than in the picture.

The project went extremely well and turned out better than imagined! The two contractors performing the work took great pride in doing the right job, were professional, courteous, highly experienced and would therefore use them again for any home remodeling job. Many of our neighbors are seeing the work that was done by H-Town & Around and without hesitation, we recommend H-Town & Around if you're looking to do it right the first time. What a team!

H-Towne & Around recently completed a total gut/remodel of my kitchen in my 1920's bungalow. I worked directly with Paxton Moore throughout the project and I very pleased to say that the project turned out exceptionally well and I am very happy with the outcome. As with any remodel project, but especially in an old house like mine, there were a few unexpected issues with the house that arose along the way that Paxton handled really well and he always worked hard to get things where they needed to be. I've used more contractors than I can count over the years, and I can honestly say that Paxton and H-Towne were the best of all that I have experienced. I am convinced that the reason I am a happy customer is due to Paxton's rapid responsiveness, accessibility, and his genuine caring about my happiness. He always demonstrated a sincere concern for my satisfaction and for the quality outcome of the project, and I would absolutely hire Paxton again for my next project!

Initial response was positive but follow up was nonexistent. Information requested by H-Towne during initial contact (photos and dimensions) was provided but yielded no response. Subsequently, two separate appointments to walk down the job were scheduled and confirmed with both resulting in "no shows" without even a courtesy call. The owner called us and informed us of the situation of his worker so I changed my rating and may possibly use him in the future.

Good morning [Member Name Removed]! We received the review you posted on Angie's list. I am very sorry about this, the salesman Jake was terminated from our company on or around that time for this exact reason. I spoke to your wife this morning and we are scheduling for Monday around 1 PM. I will handle this directly myself. Again, I'm extremely sorry this happened, this is not how I built my company's reputation with Angie's list or the community. Regards, JR Smith H-Towne & Around Remodelers Inc. The remodeling went very smoothly. The work began shortly after our initial consultation with the business owner. He made suggestions to improve our plans for both bathrooms, suggested a number of different retailers to check out their products to be used, and gave us advice on what qualities to look for in our choices of cabinets, tile, mirrors, bathtubs, etc. During the actual remodeling process, we were very pleased with the professionalism of all the workers --they were efficient, cleaned up the work site every day before leaving, and just generally were easy to work with. The finished product for all bathrooms looked beautiful...just what we had envisioned when we decided to update our home! Additionally, the cost of the project was within his quoted budget and the work was done in the timeframe specified.
Description of Work: My husband and I wanted to update two bathrooms in our 1970's house and had the contractor partially remodel a downstairs bathroom and completely remodel an upstairs bathroom. We also had him update a half bathroom downstairs.

I wouldn't hesitate to call H-Towne again. Did everything go absolutely perfectly on the first try? No. But everything did end up finished perfectly. When things needed adjusted/changed/fixed both the owner (JR) and the project manager (Paxton) were very quick to respond. No ducking of emails or phone calls ever. All the trades/sub-contractors that came and when were to a man wonderful. All the workers on site were polite, courteous, and best of did quality work. Not much else to say beyond, I'd hire them again in a heart beat. It doesn't get much better than that.

We worked with Paxton at H-Towne from the very beginning. We had a general idea of what we wanted and Paxton came to our house to better understand our needs and help develop sketches of the new cabinets. He was really great at listening to our needs and not rushing us into getting his business or trying to push costs higher. We agreed on the scope and price of the cabinets and work started about 3 weeks later. During the actual work the crews were all clean and very respectful to not disturb our household. They would check to make sure when they could start the next day and even worked one weekend while we were away from the house in order to minimize our exposure paint fumes and smell. Paxton was at our house regularly to make sure things were going well and to text us pictures to make sure everything was to our liking before proceeding. The quality of the work is second to none. They repaired all the existing kitchen cabinets and trim (filling holes and scratches, sanding down, etc) and they now look brand new. The newly built closet/cabinet matches the existing cabinets perfectly (door trim, moulding, hinges, etc) with a seamless transition. We were really impressed - people that regularly see our house couldn't point out the new cabinets from the old ones! It is really great to see a company that takes pride in their work with extraordinary attention to detail. Their focus on customer satisfaction was fantastic and proof they will continue to have success in this business. I would highly recommend Paxton and H-Towne for your home remodeling.
Description of Work: Demolished a portion of existing kitchen cabinets and rebuilt new cabinets (box, doors, shelving and drawers) to match existing cabinets. Repaired door and drawer facings and painted existing cabinets. Painted entirety of kitchen walls, trim and ceiling.

The rep from H-Towne & Around Remodelers was Paxton Moore. He listened to us as we described what we wanted in the bathroom remodel. He presented us with options, gave us a detailed estimate, making clear what H-Towne provided and what we had to purchase. He gave us a timeline for things we needed to do (picking out floor and bathtub tile, paint color, bathroom fixtures, etc.). We were impressed with how the workers cleaned up after each day's work. They were always ready to explain something to us when we had a question. Their work and attitudes were excellent! Paxton was very conscientious about monitoring the progress, adjusting to modifications we wanted, keeping us up to date on the workers' schedules, and responding to immediate needs. He was prompt in returning our phone calls. I can't imagine a better work ethic than what both Paxton and his crew demonstrated. Plus it was just fun to work with Paxton. We could have found someone who would have done the job for less money. But for the peace of mind and the final outcome we received, the price was well worth it. The next time we need somebody to work on our house, Paxton will be the one we call.
Description of Work: Paxton met with us to understand what we wanted, made suggestions and gave us an estimate. His crew completely gutted and remodeled a 2nd bathroom in our house.

Overall, I had an outstanding experience with H-Towne. All the projects were handled in a timely, professional manner. After reaching out on Angie's List, I received a call from Paxton Moore, who was the project manager throughout the project. We met a number of times so that he could understand all details we wanted in the project. Paxton was with us throughout the project and kept a watchful eye to ensure the quality was top notch. In the rare instance we did not like the quality of a particular part of the job, he responded quickly and corrected it to our expectations. The company, and Paxton specifically, acted in a ethical and trustworthy fashion. At no time during the process did I feel like I was being deceived or manipulated into accepting something I did not want or like. The craftsmen on the project were courteous, respectful, and the craftsmanship was beyond top notch. Paxton and his team did a phenomenal job and we plan to use them for our next set of projects!
Description of Work: Project consisted of 5 tasks we needed completed: - Changed the stairs from carpet to wood planks - Added additional cabinetry above existing cabinets in the kitchen - Shelving in the laundry room - Mud room - Added built-ins in the office

These guys are fantastic. When we decided to covert our home from a 3-1 to a 4-2 by adding on a master suite, I gathered several quotes from remodelers I found on Angies List. H-Towne was not only the most reasonably priced, but I was really impressed by how much time Mike spent in the initial meeting with me going over various options, making suggestions, and making sure he understood exactly what we wanted. Mike drew up the plans and worked with us over the course of several phone calls and in-person meetings at our home to get the project within our budget. Once the plans were finalized, we worked with the project manager Paxton who oversaw the build and kept us updated with almost daily progress reports via text message. I really appreciated that, especially considering we were on a tight deadline as we wanted to have everything completed before the birth of our second child. Although they weren't able to have everything completed before we brought our baby home from the hospital, everything was done within two days of us coming home. Given the delays we experienced early on in the project due to inclement weather and the fact that our baby came a few days earlier than expected, I can't really blame them for not meeting our deadline. Other than the project managers who are H-Towne employees, the company uses all subcontractors to perform the work. At first I was hesitant about this, but I soon realized that they have different guys they use for roofing, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, etc. so you end up getting specialists in that trade. Overall, the quality of the subs' work was outstanding and any mistakes or issues that arose were quickly remedied by Paxton or the owner of the company, JR, whom we got to know pretty well over the course of the project. These guys are really good, honest guys and I always felt like they were being straight up with us (which unfortunately is not always the case with other contractors). Additionally, we found all the subs to be very friendly and professional. My toddler son ended up making quite a few new friends before the job was up. :) I really can't say enough about how much we love our new master suite. Our new bedroom is beautiful and the bathroom looks almost identical to the photograph I showed them at the start of the project saying, "this is what I want it to look like." Also, I am so impressed by the custom closet they built for us, complete with built-in drawers, shoe racks, shelves and hanging space. These guys definitely know their craft, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Built master suite addition onto the back of our house and created hallway through the existing house to access the new master suite.

At the first meeting with the contractor's representative, Paxton Moore, we discussed what we wanted and he offered useful ideas. He prepared a written contract that detailed everything that would be done and what it would cost, and presented it to us within the agreed upon time (we had gotten estimates from other contractors, and H-Towne's was very competitive). We added several things to the project as it proceeded, at agreed upon additional costs. Paxton came by most days and called frequently. The contractor brought in specialists for the various jobs. Each was courteous, friendly, and performed his task very well. They showed up when scheduled, and cleaned up each day before they left. The few issues that came up during the course of the project, Paxton handled quickly. We are very happy with all of the work and the end results.
Description of Work: 1) Remodeled the master bathroom (installed frameless glass shower, new tile in shower stall and surrounding walls and floor, and granite counter top). 2) Installed new tile floor in second bathroom. 3) replaced flat roof of portico over front porch, and replaced water damaged wood on portico. 4) replaced front door. 5) replaced water damaged garage siding and walk-in door, and painted.

Details of my original experience with H-Towne were carefully delineated in a previous review. After 2 lengthy visits from Paxton (he even climbed in to the attic) I completed a lengthy list of "homework" he left for me that detailed the remodeling job. I then waited 8 weeks and never received a quote. I completed the task he asked of me and I got nothing in return. I decided that if they were going to take this long just to provide a quote, I could only imagine the delays during the actual work. So I hired the subcontractors for my electrical, flooring, cabinetry, and plumbing. All that was left was the removal of a load bearing wall and the patio. Coincidentally, 24 hours after my initial review posted regarding the lack of follow-up/contact on a quote, I received a phone call by Mr. Moore. He started the conversation by telling me that he was contacted by the owner, Mr. Smith and informed of my "negative review". I said it was not negative, it was honest and that I wanted to be honest with my neighbors about the time I had to wait to receive a quote. (I still don't have it.) I also told him that I believed in second chances and that I would give the company another opportunity later on to redeem their work ethic and if it was quality work, I would change the grade. (The grade I gave was a "D" which in teacher land means "poor".) Paxton then explained that he was asked to call me by Mr. Smith about taking down the review and explained that he did not contact me because he "didn't want to pester me". There is no logic in this excuse because providing me with a requested quote is not "pestering". What was pestering was his insistence that I remove the "D" review in the phone call. Apparently H-Towne makes it a practice to badger the customer who makes an honest evaluation, insisting they remove it from the record (or request to change it) so that a seemingly stellar work ethic is presented to the public and they can continue to receive green badges from Angie's List. I am a school teacher and the behavior during the phone call reminds me of a student who gets a "zero" for an assignment he failed to turn in and then demands that I remove the "zero" from the gradebook. In the conversation I stated that because of the timeline, I had to get started and hired subcontractors myself for some of the more pressing elements of the project. He kept insisting I remove my review. It was clear to me that the reason for his call was not to give me the quote that I expected initially, but to get me to remove the review. I said I would not remove the review because it was honest, but that I believed in second chances. (As a school teacher, I keep the grade on record until a "make-up assignment" or "extra-credit" work is completed that will be a cause for a change in the record.) I stated that I would see about securing additional funding so he could complete the unassigned elements of the project. And this was my way of providing him/company with an opportunity to redeem themselves professionally. Well, I gave H-Towne Remodeling the 2nd chance I had promised. Two days ago I contacted Mr. Moore and let him know that I did secure additional funding and gave him the opportunity to provide me with the quote that I requested in January (it is now March and after measurements and visits to my attic, I have no quote). Here's the 2nd chance--the make-up opportunity. The response was dark, curt, and swift: a voice mail left by Mr. Moore. The voice mail stated that because I did not remove their initial grade of a "D" when he asked me to, he would not give me the initial quote that was requested and did not want the job. I The "D" review has been removed and the grade has been changed to an "F" because H-Towne had the opportunity to at least demonstrate that they completed the initial task of arriving at a quote for the work. Now, I notice that lengthy business responses to other negative reviews border on the condescending and unprofessional. I will state that my interactions with this group have been nothing but positive and professional. My review is honest. UPDATE: Based on the lengthy response posted by Mr. Smith, I wish to clarify that I made changes because MR. MOORE would suggest changes be made because things I was initially requesting could not be done, i.e. removal of wall, installation of pocket doors, change in toilet placement. When a company badgers good people in to removing honest, less-than-stellar reviews, of course they are going to skew the ratings. This is common sense. Mr. Smith needs to recognize that all jobs are worthwhile because all are for good people (like myself) who wish to make their homes a more comfortable place. Responses from companies like Mr. Smith's should be a "red flag" to Angie's list personnel.
Description of Work: Refused services because I would not remove a truthful review.

Response from H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc.
Hello all, JR Smith here once again with H–Towne & Remodelers Inc., proud recipient's now of the Angie's List Super Service Award for multiple years including 2013 and 2014. To be recognized as a Super Service Award member, we have to be consistently in the top 5% of all businesses in our chosen field/category with Angie's list. I am so sorry this customer finds it necessary to vent her frustrations to you all about our estimating process. Let me explain; As you can imagine, H-Towne gets a lot of incoming calls from folks wanting us to come out and estimate their project. During this process, clients decide whether or not they would like us to do the project for them, and we decide whether or not we want to do it. This is a two-way street. We actually pass up on several projects per year if we see potential red flags during this process. If you continue looking below at our reviews, you will see this. I always preach to my salespeople that some of the best jobs are the ones we never do, so if you see flags in the early stage politely decline and move on. I'm sure there are some situations where we misread the client, however if a man or woman that we are meeting with yells at their spouse in front of us, that could be a red flag. What are they going to be like to work for? That is not what happened with this particular client, obviously Paxton my salesman, saw a few things that prevented him from quoting her on this project, additionally during this time she kept making changes to the original scope. The way it all ended up, she posted a negative review on us on the original project $30,000 that we did not do. She then, shortly after, called us to come do a piece of the original project which actually falls below our $4000 minimum price. I told Paxton to politely decline the project, if this lady is going to post a negative review on us for work never completed, I feel as though she would make us walk on eggshells throughout the project anticipating a negative review from her the first time something does not go the exact way she expects. Remodeling is not easy, if it was, members would not need us to begin with. The bottom line is, the chemistry needs to be good both ways, and just because we are called out to look at a job, we are under no obligation to take it. We invite anybody looking to do a remodeling project to give us a call, you will find that we are very respectful of your time, and your home and we will try our hardest to meet your expectations before during and after the project. That sums it up. Regards, JR Smith H-Towne & Around Remodelers Inc. "Recipient of Angie's list Super Service Award for 2013 & 2014"

We used Andy at H-Towne and Around to remodel our home in the Memorial Area. We talked to several contractors and were not happy with their prices or some of their attitudes. I found Andy from H Towne on Angie?s List and was super impressed with him upon our 1st meeting. My husband and I left thinking, ?Is this guy for real?? Well he was for real and everything he said he could do, he did. We hired a great architect that provided excellent drawings for Andy and his crew to follow. With Andy?s guidance, we were able to accomplish everything on our plans while staying in our budget. Our renovation included new plumbing with a tankless water heater, new electrical, new windows & doors, complete insulation, adding two new bathrooms, all new AC ducting and everything else that comes with going down to the studs. We did almost everything but tear the house down. Given the amount of renovation we were doing, Andy always had an idea of how we could save money while making the house look like a million bucks. He was always so respectful of budget. This company believes in making the customer happy and they work very hard to deliver quality work that leaves their customers satisfied and H Towne proud to have their name behind it. I worked with Andy almost 4 months and saw the level of respect he gave us as well as all of his other projects. Most important for us, Andy abided to what was in the contract and addressed any quality concerns quickly. Big or small, he gives everyone the same attention. We have done remodeling in past houses so we have worked with different contractors and have seen it all. Andy was not like any contractor we have worked with before. We are so happy with Andy and look forward to using him again for our backyard remodel one day or whatever we might need! I highly recommend this company to anyone doing a big or a small job. We were very satisfied with H-Town from start to finish!! We were especially satisfied with Andy!

I called H-Towne & Around again to do some additional work for me in a bathroom in my house. I have had nothing but great experiences with them in the past so of course I called them out again to do this for me. JR is very transparent and I really enjoy his up front and honest personality. Needless to say, I hired H-towne once again, and as expected they did a beautiful job in my master bath for actually less money than he had originally quoted me. I truly don't know another contractor that would have done this for me, because I had excepted his original bid price. As a single mother, before I became acquainted with H-towne I did have serious trust issues with contractors etc., because you read so many things about contractors trying to take advantage of women. JR is just the opposite, I really feel like he has my back. He is one in a million and I appreciate him and his company very much. I recommend him to friends family and neighbors constantly. Anybody out there who is looking for an honest company to do business with, look no further than H-Towne & Around I truly can't speak highly enough of them.

We found H-Towne & Around Remodelers on Angie's List and, because they were close to our home and had great reviews, I contacted them for a quote. Paxton Moore, the salesman, came out to take a look at my space and find out what services I was needing. I felt like he took his time taking measurements and pictures and then got back to me very quickly with a quote. He came to my home to discuss the quote with me and went over everything to make sure I knew all the ins and outs of the project and to make sure he had everything covered. Paxton told me the job would last about 3 days. Once we decided to go ahead with the job, Paxton asked me when they could get started. I gave him dates that worked for me, but he came back to me with dates that would work better for them. Although those dates were a big inconvenience for me (I was extremely busy with work and would be watching a friend's small children during that time), he assured me that they would be in and out quickly and keep the space clean and as free of dust and debris as possible. The first 2 days went very smooth. They had a large crew that were working hard and getting things done. On day 3 is when things changed. They were obviously not going to finish in the 3 days they originally quoted me, but they decided to only send a 1 man crew out. He didn't show up until around 11 am, then forgot something at the shop, so he had to go there and then had lunch. So he really didn't start working until between 1-2 pm that day. He got very little done on his own, and the work he did do was not very good. This guy showed up extremely late the next two day, as well, and continued on the same path of forgetting things at the shop and taking extremely long trips to the hardware store. They also threw away my original baseboards that they removed and then tried to replace them with something that looked no where near the same as the rest of the baseboards in my house. After I complained about this 1 man crew and the terrible work he was doing, JR, the owner, came out to take a look. He ended up sending a different crew out to complete the job. The job ultimately took 10 working days. We were not able to put anything back in our pantry for several days after that while the paint was drying on the shelves, so it wasn't until days later that we noticed that the shelves were not done to the measurements we had asked for. We wanted them spaced so that we could fit our large cereal boxes on each, but it didn't fit. The shelves also sag in the middle. I sent several pictures to Paxton, but he never responded. Neither Paxton or JR came out to take a look at the final job and neither one even called me. We had several other jobs that we needed done around our home, but we will not be going with H-Towne & Around.
Description of Work: I hired H-Towne & Around Remodelers to expand my pantry into the closet that backed up to the original pantry and to remove part of a wall to make a walk-through.

Response from H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc.
Tradesmen opened a wall separating the kitchen from the living room and matched the framed opening angle with the framed opening angle in another part of the house, as requested. Upon seeing the opening angle, you informed us that you did not like the angle. We worked to fix it immediately without question, after which you were pleased. We do not mind making adjustments or changes but these adjustments do add time to the duration of the project. There was no paint in the original estimate, per your request. Halfway through the project you asked to add to the original scope of the project and have us paint the entire pantry. We agreed and provided this service at cost, but this added extra time to the project. After building the pantry shelves, we were asked to build extra supports under every shelf, which we happily agreed. We did not charge the customer anything to do this, but these added specs do take time. There were a few small aspects of the job that were not up to our standards as seen in the photos. The crew we sent in after relieving the tradesman who did the subpar work corrected those issues. We worked quickly to correct any issue we encountered during the job. I personally went to 5 different stores to find matching baseboards that were removed during demolition of the wall; ultimately finding a match that we agreed upon. After all items requiring attention were fixed and additional requests were completed, by your admission, we did leave the project. Had JR or myself been contacted or notified of any outstanding problems we would have attended to them immediately. We are committed to customer concerns and providing a quality product. We regret that these concerns were not stated until the online review and would welcome the opportunity to address your concerns. Sincerely, Paxton Moore

Response from H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc.
Hi folks, once again, JR Smith here to respond in an effort to keep our customers well informed and give them both sides of the story. It is true we require a down payment on all of our jobs. This is a very standardized policy in our industry, so standardized in fact that financial institutions that finance projects expect it. We typically collect on 30%, 30%, 30%, 10% upon completion. We do not believe it is our responsibility or duty to finance our customers projects for them, our working capital has been earned, if we financed our customers jobs prior to completion, and if we are managing multiple jobs adding up to millions of dollars, that is a very large amount of our capital to be tied up. If this customer is able to find some desperate contractor that is willing to work on those terms then so be it. I mentioned desperate also because there is only one reason why he would be 50% lower than our price, we are always very competitive when comparing apples to apples with another company that is experienced and knows our business. When this appointment came in to my office I assigned it to my Senior PM Mike Sweeney. Here is his side of the story; I recently met with this member. In doing an initial intro and walk thru with them both, I suddenly realized that there was a problem. On three different occasions while being asked a specific question by the members wife, the member raised his voice to her and demanded for her to be quiet because he was "in charge"! I could only imagine how he acts behind closed doors or to my workers in his home. At the conclusion of the first meeting he asked me about payment terms of our company. I stated to him the "draw schedule" that we use and is very common in our industry. He insisted that he would not pay anything until all work was completed to his demanding standards. In saying this, "demanding" customers turn out in most cases to be our best customers. I never quoted an exact price on this project. I gave the homeowner ranges of cost on like projects. I had / have no interest in quoting or doing any business with this member then, now or anytime in the future. Mike Sweeney Well said Mike! One additional thing. While it is true that we are a general contractor, using subs for all of our jobs, it also should be known that we hire the same guys over and over again. I have built lasting relationships with these tradesmen. This customer is an example of what I always say, "some of the best jobs are the ones we never do" for those of you looking for a good general contractor, read the reviews from the people that count, the ones we have worked for. And by the way folks, we have just been awarded our second consecutive Super Service Award with Angie's list, we are recipients of the 2013 & 2014 award only handed out to the top 5% in our industry. I'm extremely proud of my team for this accomplishment, and we want everyone to know we're going for three straight. If you allow us the opportunity, we will show you how a good, experienced & reputable remodeling company does business. ----JR Smith

Since I have used H-Towne several times before, and as a valued member of Angie's list, we are asked to give more reviews if we recently used the company. My previous experience with H-towne was absolutely professional, and the outcome was exactly what I wanted. This company values their customers time, they send the best of the best to finish the job at hand. As a working single mum, I need jobs to be done quickly and efficiently and the outcome as I needed, every time I use H-Towne they do an amazing job. I will keep using them and I recommend them to all my friends and colleagues and to all Angie's list members.

We were referred to H-Towne & Around by friends that live in a nearby neighborhood that had an amazing remodel and backyard patio built. We decided to work with JR and H-Towne because they immediately responded to our call, came out to the house to evaluate the project quickly, and sent a price estimate within a few days. By the time we received the other estimates, JR had walked us through the process and we were ready to start architectural plans for the project. JR's quote was also the lowest price. JR was very involved early and then Andy, our Superintendent, took over. This is our first shot at a remodel so it was overwhelming, but both JR and Andy were top notch and great to work with. Early in the process, there were some delays in the architecture planning and permitting. Once the permits were received, the demo was completed quickly and the second floor and new space was framed and built out in no time. The old vinyl siding was removed and the new Hardy went up quick along with install of the new windows. This was a significant project and there were some ups and downs when issues were found with electrical and plumbing but whenever an issue was found, H-Towne worked with us through each of them professionally and in a stand-up manner to find the best solution. Along the way, 2 major electrical issues were found left over from previous remodels. Both issues were significant fire and safety hazards. Andy and Joel, the electrician, came out and immediately addressed the hazards with the first priority of making them safe. This did cause some delays but it was absolutely the right thing to do. We did have a number of changes to the original plan requested in the middle of the project. Both JR and Andy were very willing to work with us to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. One big change was the new shower in the master bath. We wanted a big walk in shower and thought we had one measured out in the blueprint. When the actual shower was framed out, it was much too small, we contacted Andy and JR, they met with us promptly and we discussed the changes needed. The framers come back out and make the change. Jesus took it from there. Jesus built our shower, did all of the trim work, painted and just about any small touches we requested. It was all done with perfection. H-Towne means it when they say they will do what it takes to make the customer happy. Andy was awesome to work with, he answered every text and phone call immediately. He was on top of all the work being done and was always available to meet in person to discuss progress of the work and keep us up to speed on the work that would be done next. The work was completed and everything looks outstanding. The exterior looks great and the new bathroom and closet are beautiful. We are extremely happy with the new French Doors that were framed and installed. Overall, we are very happy with the work and will absolutely work with H-Towne again. (Andy and Jesus were also great with our two golden retrievers, and when the project was over our dogs missed their company during the day).
Description of Work: We recently purchased a home built in 1964. From the home inspection, the home needed several significant improvements. My wife and I also wanted to add several upgrades. The major work completed by H-Towne is as follows: Replace Vinyl Siding with Hardy and repainted the exterior. Replace ~10 older single pane windows with upgraded double pane windows Build 150sq.ft. addition to new second story over existing 1 story portion of house Demo old master bathroom and build new custom master bath and closet in new space Frame out and Install 3 new sets of french doors (along with a new beam to support the load) Major Electrical repairs and rewire of significant safety hazards left by previous owner's remodel

Thanks for the kind words, it was our pleasure working for you. You guys have a beautiful home and I am so glad you allowed us at H-Towne to be a part of it all. As I promised, that second story room addition looks like it was built the day the house was, definitely another one of our masterpieces!
