Window World TX

I gave them a check and they deposited it 3 times. The second time it got rejected and they called me to tell me it bounced. They rejected it the third time and it got mark as fraudulent because the bank thought they were doing something. It took me 5 months to get all the paperwork because they would not cooperate. I found out that they were having cash flow problems. She finally reimbursed me the $3000 at the end of the year. I found out this was not uncommon to try and get the same amount of money twice. 5 months later I had affidavits from he bank. It took me another 2 months to get my money back. She finally paid me back out of her personal account. So she was combing business funds with her personal funds. Sometimes the deposits were through business account and sometimes through her account. The first crew they had, the little guy measured the window really carefully and the big screws went in the right place. The manager would leave mid morning and the quality of the work would go down. The little guy was consistently good. One guy was afraid of heights and when the crew manager would leave they would make him go up to the highest points and laugh about it. I told window world and they fired the crew. The second crew had no management. When the storm inspection came through hey had to redo all the screws. They were just randomly placed in there. We did have one window spring a leak. It was a very expensive window. They send out the guy who was their in house inspector replace the window and that was good. I think they learned from their firs mistakes that they did not want to deal with me again.

We signed a contract with Window World for installation of windows and doors in mid-September. We gave them 50% down and were told the windows and doors would be installed in 10-12 weeks. 10 weeks later, they finally called to tell us the doors we ordered were not available and it would be another 8-12 weeks before we could have them installed. Tony and his team did a good job when Tony was on-site, but he would leave shortly after the team started, and the quality of the installation wasn't quite so good, and the workers tended to "goof off" when he wasn't around. They also ordered a different set of double doors than what we specified, so had to reorder those doors, delaying that part of the installation. They completed about 50% of the work, and we had a rainstorm shortly after they left, and some of the windows leaked badly. We reported the leakage problems, and the next time installers arrived, it was a different team. We were told that Tony's team was "fired". The second group of installers appear to be untrained; they didn't follow standards when installing the windows, just drilled anywhere for the screws (not following placement or spacing standards), omitted required screws (not enough screws) on some installations, etc. This meant the windows, as installed, could not pass Windstorm Inspection Standards that is needed to keep our insurance in effect. The second group was also pretty rough on the structure of the house itself, putting gouges in the stucco when removing the old windows. We had Window World's service manager come out and correct the installation errors and the installation passed inspection after that. The team members also removed the stickers on the windows saying "to be removed by Owner only" or "must remain on window until inspection is complete" or other messages to that effect. We suspect that had something to do with the doors which were actually a McCoy's product -- Window World significantly overcharged us for the doors. After the first ones were installed, we checked with McCoy's and learned the doors retail cost was between $412.69 and $892.03 for single and double doors, respectively. Window World charged us $1895 to $2298 plus additional cost for tempered glass and various installation costs. We suspect the reason they instructed the workers to remove the stickers was to keep us from recognizing that we had been overcharged. Window World seems to have a good product, but their business practices need a lot of improvement. We also suspect the company has cash flow problems because they sat on our down payment for so long before actually submitting the order, and as soon as the first team had completed about half the work, they requested payment in full for the remaining work. We made the last payment shortly before the second wind inspection was complete because we watched to ensure that the service manager corrected all defects.
