Lupe and his crew were fair-priced, prompt, thorough and cleaned up after themselves every single day. Professional and respectful crew. The owner was on-site to make sure the job was done well. Would hire again, no question.

Lupe and his crew-Profusion Painting & Drywall-also goes by Lupe's Painting-361-443-7906-was contracted to power wash, scrape, sand, caulk, prime and paint the exterior of my home and detached garage after I had a house fire (the detached garage had no fire damage) $3500.00 labor. After 4-6 months I called Lupe because there were issues with the exterior of the house and detached garage where paint was coming off under the 105 laps or there was no paint at all. I called him several times, left messages, text, etc. There was always a reason he could not come out to look at it-his vehicle was broke down-he was on another job-he was out of town-he was on vacation. The house and garage continued to get worse-more paint coming off. It was February-March 2012 before he came out to look at the house, approximately 1 year. He only came out then because I called Glidden locally and the corporate office regarding this project. He primarily uses Glidden on his projects so they called him. He was very angry that I had called them. When he came out the first time I was not home and he called me and told me that there was only a few places that they needed to fix. He still would never come out, excuses again. Finally after I talked with Glidden several times more he came over without me being notified, luckily I was home. We walked the house and he said the house had "moved up" and that was why the paint under the lap of the 105 siding was not adhering, the foundation was bad or the caulk that they used was bad. He said I should call my insurance company, a foundation company to come out and call regarding the caulk. I did all these things (except call insurance-they do not cover poor workmanship) and there is nothing wrong with the foundation and if the paint was not adhering to caulk then the prep was not properly done and possibly the body of the house was not dry from the power washing when they caulked, primed and painted. I even called a fire restoration company to make sure that would not have been a factor and there was not. After all of this I called him back and he said he would not fix the house because he did not do anything wrong. That I was not getting a new paint job. He said that he did not give me a price to do all the preparation for this to not occur (you can actually see green paint from where the house was painted 15 years ago) (Also the new 105 siding and the trim on the house-pine-you can see the pine knots-wrong primer used-should have been a white shellac or a primer for this situation to seal the knots so they do not bleed thru like they are doing) After all of this I offered to help with the sanding, scraping, etc-I also offered a trade out on some other work-I asked for a partial refund so I could hire someone else. To this day he will not respond. When Mike with Glidden (store on SPID) came out he agreed that there were issues with poor preparation. Also that the paint may not match the rest of the house because it had been over a year. A concern I had all the time and why I kept calling Lupe because I knew it would be an issue. Mike also stated that he did not want to get in the middle of this. Profusion Painting-Lupe's painting purchases alot of paint from them. Also I discussed with Mike from Glidden that I was a painter myself and I knew what was wrong with the paint job. He asked me why I had called him out to my house. I said to cover all my bases and make sure I was not being unreasonable. Which he said I was not but still did not want to get in the middle. In addition to having a foundation company come out I also had a seasoned painter of 20 years come out. Everyone is willing to give a statement regarding poor prep on the house. An exterior paint job should last 8-10 years or more if it is done correctly and warranty on paint not 4-6 months. $3,500.00 for labor is not a discounted price for a paint job. It would be a fair price if the paint job lasted 8-10 years or more. When Lupe knew I was calling another painter and Mike at Glidden he was very angry and said I should not be getting anyone involved in this. If you are doing your job right you should not be afraid of another professional to see your work. I knew there was nothing wrong with the foundation (there would be cracks all in the interior of the house and there are not). Houses don't "move up" from corner to corner, the entire area of the foundation all at one time and the detached garage as well. Houses settled down and unevenly. Depending on the soil type they may heave up when there is an excessive amount of water but will settle back down to some degree. I am a painter myself. I have been painting for over 6 years. I have painted interior and exterior. I have moved houses in and tied them in with an existing home, roofed, etc. I know what I am talking about. I was going to paint the house myself (wish I had-saved $3500.00) but Lupe convinced me and I was tired of living in a RV on the side of my house without a bathroom (lived in there 5 months) and I just wanted to get back in my house. Lupe I have know since 2005 and trusted him especially since he professes to be a christian. I did not think I had to stand over him or his workers to make sure they were doing a professional job. I will never use him again or recommend him. If he did this to me he will do it to you. You should never have two different prices for a job-one price for quality work and one for poor work. I am a contractor myself. I have pictures of my house showing Lupe's poor workmanship-can get statements from other professionals that came out and I consulted with-if anyone wants me to email them to them so they can see his work just let me know harris-marsha@att.net or 361-533-4296.
