We hired Mike to remove our old tile and install new tile and backsplash. He arrived promptly and removed all the tile in one day. We set a date approximately 4 weeks later when he would come back and install new tile. At that point, he was always 2+ hours late getting to the job, and would only stay a short while and leave. When he finally started laying the tiles, he did not follow my instruction on a minimal grout line, but used a quite large grout line. By the time I spotted it, he was too far in to start over. One day he never showed up at all, but eventually called to say he had another appointment....so the 4.5 day job stretched out to 9 days. While I was happy about the quality of the tile and the way it was laid (except the grout line), when it came to finishing - it was AWFUL. He left grout all over the tile - you can literally see on each tile where the grout was not cleaned off. And clumps of grout! We have been scraping and scrubbing the tiles and baseboards trying to get it all off. But the worst part - he cut all my door trim about 1/4 to 1/2 inch higher than the tiles, and crooked! My door trim is 'floating". When asked what was to be done about it - he replied that we could just caulk it. I will probably have to replace trim around 8 doors! He left rather abruptly, so we did not have the opportunity to look over the job or I would have pointed out that the tile wasn't cleaned properly.
