Description of Work: We contracted them to re-level our entire house. We have a pier-and-beam foundation, and the house is approx 1600 sq ft. We did not need to have any beams replaced, however they did add two stations to support existing beams. | |The quoting process took a couple of hours. They took measurements, shot a laser level across the house, and provided us with a map of the house showing the low points that they would have to raise. They dug to and accessed the area underneath the house as well, to look at the current foundation. | |The contract that we signed made clear that the quote was to level the house to the existing highest point, and that additional stations would be an additional cost, as well as any replacement of beams or sections, and that they would not be able to know about some of this until they began the work. We were fine with that. They expected the work to take one full day. The quoted fee for the work was $1,950. | |Throughout the day that they did the work, we were informed that they had to add a station. They also had to dig two additional access points to get to other areas of the house. At the end of the day, they had only leveled 1/2 of the house, and left an entire portion of the house uncompleted. We were told that it would take another half day to do this work, and the fee would be an additional $975. The foreman said that we should have been told that the $1950 is a day rate, not the rate for the entire house, and as it was taking them longer than a day, there was an additional expense. This just didn't seem right. | |We called the regional manager, who gave us the quote, and explained the situation, and our understanding of the contract. The next morning, the foreman called and said that they would be back out the next morning to finish the job, free of additional charge. When the crew came out (without the foreman), they were very professional and finished the job. | |Thus, I give Du-West a B. They did the job, and did it satisfactorily, the crew was very friendly and courteous. I can't say for sure whether our "misunderstanding" was accidental or on purpose. Regardless, they took care of the problem and our house is now level.

However, his recommendation for the repairs needed, and the total bid price, was outrageous. I've heard that the quality of this company's work is outstanding, but their prices are cost prohibitive. I would only consider this company if I lived in a very expensive house and knew it was going to be my "forever" home.

+ -1 moreExcellent job. They first came out and checked the entire house to determine what was out of level. The house was in excellent shape but the garage was sinking and moving away from the house. On the morning of the repair they arrived promptly and hand dug out the foundation, cut a hole in the driveway and installed seven concrete pilings. Then they packed the soil back, repaired the driveway and cleaned everything up. Several Days later they came back and rechecked the level. They determined the work had been done correctly. This was also verified by a city inspection. The crack between the house of the wall was not completely closed but they advised us to wait several months. They were right. Now it is hard to tell by looking at the crack it was repaired. There work is guaranteed for life.
Description of Work: Repaired garage foundation which was dropping on one side causing it move away from the house.

+ -1 moreDid not use this company! When I call them to come out for a bid did have to pay $10.00 for service call in which would be deducted if we had hired Du West. We use a different company to do the adjustment for a lot less and receive a guaranteed, where DuWest Foundation would not guaranteed adjustment. The only thing I came say is this company was way to high and wanted to do more work than we felt like we needed . Also still trying a month and a half later to get them to cash my $ 10.00 ck.

+ -1 moreI didn't dislike anything about him. He was very polite and very courteous. I had several questions because I am a foreigner. I didn't understand some of the terms and he explained it to me. We sat and had a chat about it. He said my house is fine and he will come back in about 6- 7 months and re-check if it needed some work. He was young man but he was very professional. He was on time. All those qualities that I liked in somebody were in him. I called him and he was here the next day.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Du-West Foundation Repair for foundation repair. I needed to do something to the other house because the front was 3 inches lower than it was supposed to be.

+ -1 moreDu West showed up on the day they prearranged, they had to dig lots of holes under the house, they also had to put some pilings under the patio and the driveway. The work was a bit delayed waiting on the product for the tree barriers, but only for a day. The only thing I wish they had done is to lift the grass, and then put it back after.
Description of Work: Du West came out and gave me an estimate, had three other estimates, but I went with them even though they were the most expensive. I went with Du West because of their length of time in business, an excellent rating with the BBB, and their professional attitude. I felt I could trust them to be around in the years to come. they showed up when they said they would and it took them a little over a week to complete the job. I was very impressed with how they left my property clean and neat. I did lose some plants, but I was told in advance that some of the plants might not survive. I also had them put in tree gards, because the roots were going under the house. I am confident that if I have any trouble with my foundation in the future I can call on them because they give you a warrenty that is for the life of the house.

Description of Work: Received three bids from local foundation specialists. All the bids were consistent in the scope of work that needed to be completed. Richard came out and gave us an estimate that was fair and reasonable.

+ -1 moreThe house had shifted due to the extremely dry weather causing cracks in the walls and ceiling and broken tiles. The company sent a representative to go over the house and give an estimate of what needed to be done. He spent several hours in and outside the house and presented me with a detailed drawing showing where each pier needed to go. A week or so after he left, I received a DVD in the mail completely explaining their process. When we decided to go ahead with the process, I called and was put on a list. They called to keep me updated on when they would start. The crew arrived on time and worked all day. They were all very pleasant and clean. Each day they cleaned up the area before they left, leaving no trash behind. When the job started running longer than planned, they brought in a crew from San Antonio to help out. When they finished, they pressure washed the house and concrete where needed. The crew replanted all shrubbery that had been moved and made sure I was happy with everything. They even hosed the grass down to force the leftover dirt into the grass. Their work is guaranteed, so they will come back if I have any more problems.
Description of Work: We had 39 piers put in to stabilize the house. The reason it was so expensive was because we had them tunnel by hand under the house for some of the piers instead of breaking out concrete and having to replace it.

This was the cause of my foundation problems, and I was able to call a plumber immediately. Very happy with his honesty and professionalism. If I do need to get repairs done, I will definitely use Du West.

Description of Work: when they came to make an estimate they said that it was not their type of job and recommended another contractor. From our conversation the job was not large enough for them to contract it. I was disappointed but the recommendation was a good contractor who did a good job.

+ -1 moreTook about a week to complete. The orginal bid seemed to be a low ball and then the real bid was presented with the actual work needed. Not happy with their approach or method but still about $5000 less than a competing bid and it seems to me about 90 percent of the work done by DuWest comparable to the other bid. Could have had a little better job for alot more money.
Description of Work: DuWest replaced or repaired several beams, piers and assorted support areas. House leveled in multiple areas and rotton wood replaced.

+ -1 moreI contacted the company to set up an appointment after we noticed cracked tiles along the kitchen and hall-way leading to the garage. Anna took my call and set me up with an inspection on 11/11/11. Anna advised that the service call would be $10.00 but that it would be credited to the bill if work was required. On that day, Eddie Cabazos came out to inspect the foundation of my house. Cabazos advised that he wasn't too concerned about the tiles and inspected the rest of the house both on the inside and outside. Cabazos concluded that we did not have a foundation problem and did not warrant repair at this time. Cabazos recommended that due to the recent drought, it was imperative that all sides of the house maintain an equal amount of watering otherwise the soil will crumble and the foundation will shift. I appreciated Cabazos' professionalism and honesty and would gladly call him back in the future for any related work.
Description of Work: Manager Eddie Cabazos inspected my home for possible foundation problems and to give an estimate. The company was one of three called to inspect the foundation.

Today, Mr Cabazos was here promptly at 9 am, as scheduled. He explained in detail what the problem is with our floor tile and what we can do to fix it. He was very professional.
Description of Work: Evaluation The $10.00 charge was for the service call and would go toward the repair service if applicable.
