When the appliances arrived, the delivery person brought the stove, microwave and dishwasher. He told us that if we wanted the frig, we would have to pay an additional $40. as they screwed up. Then he told us that the cost to put the plug in the microwave was now $65 and there was no $25.00 paid. We assumed the delivery installation charge of $225 was 200 for the delivery and $25 for the plug as we were informed. We additionally found out that he needed the counter cut $40. to make room for the stove and another $65. plug for the stove as it had been hardwired. While we were dismayed by the additional cost, we agreed to the counter cut and the second plug. (105. extra) These were things that we had not been aware of at the time of the purchase and had not discussed with the sales people. However, we called the store about the additional $105 cost for the delivery and microwave plug which we had already paid for. The salesman finally admitted that he made a mistake about the delivery costs and said that was too bad, we had to pay it. Eventually he said that he would pay it. However he said that we had to pay for the microwave installation in full (despite the fact that 3 of us had clearly heard the $25.00 charge being added to the delivery to pay for that. They made a big point that the delivery people were not part of their company. However, we indicated that they contracted the people for delivery, we paid Appliance Mart for the delivery therefore Appliance Mart had responsibility as any contractor does that hires subcontractors. When we asked the about the microwave, he denied putting that into the delivery charge. So we asked to speak to the owner. He said he would get her for us. We sat on hold for approximately 40 minutes and then called again on a friend's cell phone. Both he and the owner, Tinker Floyd had gone out to lunch according to the secretary that answered! The delivery/installation man told us this happens all the time they quote one price and then he has to tell the client the different price. We were so frustrated we asked him what if he just took them back. He indicated that we would be charged for double deliveries. So the 200 (not counting the frig that wasn't delivered) would be 400 plus we would have a restocking charge. We knew they wouldn't refund it and we would spend lots of money and have no appliances. They had us over a barrel and they knew it. So we worked out a deal with the delivery/installation man. We would install all the appliances ourselves and he would deliver the frig and put in the microwave plug. After lunch Tinker Floyd, the owner, eventually called us. We explained the problem and indicated that we were really frustrated that she had kept us and the delivery/installation person waiting on hold while she went to lunch, not even instructing a secretary to inform us. She said we had a right to hang up and she wasn't obligated to take our call and she seriously yelled at us for being upset. Her unprofessional behavior convinced us that we will never deal with this company again and we should warn others. The problem was not a salesman that made a mistake, the problem is at the core of the company.
Description of Work: Purchased approximately 2,000 of appliances. Refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and microwave. The sales person seemed good both in November when we initially researched appliances and in April when they were purchased. In addition to the appliances, we were charged for hoses and cords. The delivery charge to a local address was 200 and that was to include installation. They indicated that if we removed the appliances that they would haul them away. Additionally we pointed out that the microwave had a line run, but the connection was not made in a box so it was not to code. The salesman quickly assured us that there was no need for an electrician, that the installer could make the connection in a box. He looked at some chart and said the price would for that would be an additional $25.00 Three of us saw him do that and we paid the full price on the invoice.
