The front porch does not match and is noticeable where the addition was put in. The wrong flashing was used and now the wood is rotting. The support for the front porch was put on the existing front concrete patio and now it is breaking apart from the weight of the porch cover. On the back porch, the roof line where it attaches to the house has started to sag on one end and has sagged over 2 inches. In addition, there is rough 4x8 panel ceiling on existing porch and he put up smooth hardy board. Did not offer to put in soffitt vents either even though there were 5 of them leading to the new addition. The roof does not match in either, will have to get a roofer to fix that as well. I have tried to contact Dave and no response. I will have to get a roofer out to fix the problems and also correctly pour a foundation for the front porch support. I would never use him again. He is never on site and will not respond to emails or phone calls.
Description of Work: Needed back and front porch cover added.

We hired Dave's Home Services or Dave's Home and Commercial Services, whatever he wants to call it, to remodel our kitchen and master bath. Probably one of the worst mistakes I have made as a homeowner. Dave is a skilled salesman , plain and simple. That is where his skill set ends. He did absolutely no work whatsoever himself and judging from the clothes he wears and his manicure and pedicure I doubt he ever does. He introduced me to Emilio, his "project manager", the first day of the job. Emilio is a nice man and I believe an honest and hard worker however he is not the "project manager", he is actually the main laborer. Dave confirmed this towards the end of the project when he told my wife that "Emilio is just a worker". Several times throughout the project Dave would give us a reason why something could or could not be done only to be contradicted by Emilio later on in the job. We were very specific before we ever signed the contract that our house is old and had some subpar work done on it by previous owners and we wanted to ensure Dave built in some contingency money into the bid in case we ran into unforeseen problems. Well, we ran into unforeseen problems. The kitchen cabinet doors had to all be replaced and there was some plumbing issues in the bathroom that had to be addressed. From that moment on Dave made it a point that he fixed those things out of the kindness of his heart and his pocket multiple times. I wanted an old pantry torn down and a wall taken out. He tore the pantry down then proceeded to have Emilio rebuild one of the walls so that he could have a place to put light switches rather than run the wiring to the opposite walls. When I told him I did not want the wall there, Dave gave some BS reason as to it's necessity and left it up. He built a breakfast bar that was not anchored into the wall or the floor that you could move with one hand. He defended the shoddy work even though Emilio told us that he asked Dave if they were going to go into the wall to secure the bar, which is the right way to do it, and Dave told him no. We were very specific that we wanted antiqued bronze hardware on our cabinets in the kitchen. Once done with the cabinets Dave told us that everyone wants to get away from having drawer and door pulls these days so he is not going to put them on. He told us the cabinet doors were designed to not have them. This was complete BS. I had to go out and spend $150 dollars on cabinet hardware and spend a day installing the stuff myself. He ordered the wrong color shower frame and hardware then when questioned about it he came up with a million sob story reasons why we should just keep the brushed nickel color he ordered. The sliding glass door he installed in my kitchen already feels like it's sliding on gravel and the lock is misaligned. He told us that he only uses Sherwin Williams paint. Well the cabinet paint in the kitchen is awesome. It was Sherwin Williams. The wall paint he used in the kitchen and living room is some chalky, cheap crap. He comes off if you wipe it with a damp cloth. I have a two year old so wiping walls is a daily activity. The kitchen and living room will have to be repainted within a year. He installed $10 light fixtures in my kitchen, which I have already replaced one that kept burning out light bulbs. He threw away a $100 dollar ceiling fan that I told him multiple time I wanted to keep. We were promised the sink we wanted and came home one afternoon to find a cheap one that was not what we were told we were getting installed. His tile guys he hired did terrible tile work in the bathroom. The cabinet guys were supposed to build a vanity and cabinet in the bathroom, instead we got off the shelf stuff from Home Depot. His electricians did ILLEGAL and dangerous wiring in the attic, which Dave never even went in to look at or inspect. Dave tried to tell me he was going to google a random electrician and get him out to the house because I wanted a neutral party to do the repair work. He proceeded to "google" an electrician in Conroe on his phone then supposedly set up an appointment with the guy to come out the next morning via text message. I don't know about you but I've never googled a stranger or service on the internet and set up an appointment via text message. I had to bring in my own electrician who informed me that the work in the attic was indeed illegal and dangerous and that the kitchen plugs should have been replaced with GFI plugs. Dave refused to take responsibility for any of this. He initially tried to tell me that the code allowed the attic wiring. When I informed him that I knew the fire marshal and that he has already told me the work was illegal then Dave quickly crawfished and started telling me he was not an electrician and cannot know all the codes. This is complete horse crap!! As the lead contractor it is his responsibility to ensure all the work in my house is done safely, legally and right! I could easily keep going but I'm just getting angry so I will now walk away. In the end, we have a remodeled kitchen and master bath. It is much nicer than what we had but the fit and finish and details of quality work and pride in what you do is not there. I have done a lot of finish work myself and have much more to do. I can whole heartedly NOT recommend Dave Harrel for any work whatsoever around your home. Lesson learned on my part, learn from my mistake.

Biggest issue is sub's with no supervision using 2 different grout colors and he personally using a sealer that the factory has told me that they would not recommend for flagstone but concrete only. He will tell you the sub has been doing work for 20 + years and he doesn't need him watching over his shoulder. This is the type of excuses you will hear every time you call him. We now have steps coming up from not being secured properly during construction.
Description of Work: He built a a really nice flagstone step from our pool area to the boat dock. It turned out really nice looking & way over budget. I didn't mind paying up the so called lost of his profit but I do mind the service after the job is finished. He is always full of excuses. I have recommended him to friends and the same response about going over budget and costing him money out of his pocket. My friends were smarter than me and brushed that off to "you better know your business & bid closer next time". Overall I am really disappointed in service after the job is complete. I feel I have been more than patient and now looking for a new contractor to finish his work.
