He wrote an estimate that was agreed upon by my newly widowed mother. He asked for half down. Before job was done, he rewrote his 'proposal' and asked for more money. He came and went whenever he wanted (sometimes 9:30 sometimes 10:30) only worked about 2 hours a day. He didn't show up at all one morning and when my mother called him he said he was at a doctor appointment and whould be there later. Then 2 hours later he called and cancelled saying 'the day is already wasted' for him. No apology! My mom's day was wasted waiting for him. Instead of replacing sheetrock to repair a crack in the wall, he just put a load of 'texture' and paint over it and it bulges out compared to the rest of the wall. In other places the seams between sheetrock pieces are visible. He got 'texture' on the brick and was going to leave it until it was pointed out and he was told to clean it. He used our ladder without permission and got paint and 'texture' all over it. He cleaned his equipment in yard and left piles of texture and paint on the lawn and killed some of the grass. He reused pieces of old lumber to rebuild the door jam - pieced together and filled in gaps with putty-looking stuff. The door does not fit into the door jam properly - you can see light when the door is shut - a storm door! When my mom pointed out the cracks he told her she was being "...too nitpicky, and don't worry about it!" He also yelled my sister when she asked him a question - telling her she need to "...wait until I'm done and then you can complain! I've been doing this for 30 years and I know what I'm doing! The finished job is sloppy and pieced together, not quality at all!
