+ 4 moreIt started out OK but turned into a nighmare, and after several weeks I could see that I should just try to get them to finish as much as theywould do and complete the rest and never use them again.
Description of Work: Tile, bathroom vanities, granite counter tops, undermount sinks and some sheetrock work and interior painting. In the beginning I was out of town two weeks and that is all the time it was suppose to take. The work took twice as long as they said (four weeks) The quality was OK on some projects and not on others. I understand that using low cost sub contractors is par for the industry but again some subs did por quality work and it was difficult to get them to return and complete the job. They put in the wrong kitchen backsplash and did not want to change it. The floor tile grout was to be medium to dark and they put in light grout. Doug Smith (the owner) was suppose to reimburse me because the tile was less expencive than the amount allowed and after telling me he would cut me a check it did not arrive. A month latter, after he has been paid in full for over a month, he said that I own him money because I filed a small claims case against him he then generated another invoice and said he will file a mechnics lein if I don't pay more money. To add insult to injury I spent over 10 days working 12 -15 hours a day to help get this job completed.

+ 1 moreOur worker came at 9:45 and immediately got to work. He worked straight from the time he got started until he was finished. He did not rush through anything. He was very thorough and went above and beyond. When he took out the the sheetrock above our door, he noticed rotted wood and immediately called me into the room to look at the problem and bring it to my attention. After further investigation, he noticed that it was a problem that was no longer a threat to my house. It looked like termite damage, but he investigated thoroughly to see if there were any bugs or recent damage. After consulting with me and my husband, he continued with replacing the door. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm came, but he worked right through it and even apologized that our siding got a little dirty due to the rain even though it was out of his control. I also noticed him constantly sweeping up sheetrock dust and any other debris that was in the area. He even brought his own broom! All in all, he was efficient, thorough, went above and beyond and consulted with me and my husband if he had any questions or concerns. I was a little concerned that the cost might be over what we were expecting since no one came out to look at the door before giving us an estimate. We did tell him everything that we knew, such as having siding and the door sizes, but every other company wanted to look at it. So I have to admit I was a little worried. However, they sent us a bill an I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a little less than estimated. Our worker also did not leave until we were satisfied. I will definitely use this company again-and in fact I am!!
Description of Work: We had bought a front door and a storm door and our existing door was a 32" and we were replacing it with a 36" door. We called several other companies and either we never got a response at all or they never sent an estimate. Capital Construction asked what we were needing and gave us an estimate over the phone and said that someone would be out by 10 am on the date we set. A worker came at 9:45, introduced himself and immediately got to work. He came prepared for any problem he might encounter because we do not live in an area with a large hardware store and they were aware of that. He had to widen the door frame which included taking out and reinstalling sheetrock, taping and floating and trimming out the door. He also had to cut and reinstall the siding on the outside of the door. We also had a small section of sheetrock that was next to the door that had a huge crack in it from a previous problem that we had and he was kind enough to take that section out and put in another piece for us even though that was not part of the job. It was just that idea of going above and beyond that made me decide to call them for another project that we have!
