I hired this company to install my whole home generator, at the time it was installed Generac advised the company was a preferred dealership. I wanted someone local so if any problem arise it could be dealt with locally. The salesman/owner came to my house on time and provided me Generac brochures asked a few questions on square footage of my home and asked what I was wanting to accomplish. My reply was a whole home generator, our home is fully electric. I also had several questions regarding load shedding, and was advised this isn't necessary. The owner/salesman asked if I would be interested in purchasing a used Generac Generator in which he was awarded from his recent divorce, seemed like a odd question but I entertained it and listened but refused to purchase and wanted the 22kw with the extended warranty. Everything went well until the propane company arrived to fuel the tank and advised they could not fuel the tank because it was to far from the road. I contacted the company/owner and was informed this was not his problem and I would need to have the tank moved and pay for the extra trenching as well as any material. I replied that his company was hired as a general contractor to install the generator. Me as the customer as well as the sub contractors had relied on his knowledge and professionalism to be correct. That I shouldn't be charged for his error in judgment. We finally came to agreement that I would pay for extra material, and the boring of the driveway, and he would pay for the trenching. Approximately two months passed without any work being done, I called and told the owner this was a simple project and in order to get the job completed, to just place everything to its original place and I would worry about getting the tank filled, just please complete the job. The job was completed within a couple of weeks and all appeared to be working well, his office staff and crew are very pleasant and seem acknowledged in the work they done. On Friday night about 7:30 PM we experienced our first power outage the generator made a loud pop noise, and we was without power within seconds of the electrical power going out. My wife contacted the companies phone number and the owner answered but she couldn't understand anything he was saying and handed me the phone, once I started to talk the phone went silent. I called back and left my contact information, and if someone could contact us. I waited for about 15 minutes and no call back so I contacted Generac for assistance, they advised this company had a emergency call out number and asked that we contact them, I advised they are not answering there phones is there someone else available. They did provide us the name of another company that showed up and fixed the problem within about an hour. I contacted this company Monday morning as we still have not heard back from our initial call from Friday night. The company associate told me they handle all calls and didn't know why anyone didn't call us back and would have the owner call me. I received a call from the owner moments later to advise me that his phone had bad reception Friday night and that's why we couldn't understand him, and then his battery went dead so he couldn't call us back. He then advised he didn't have time to answer or work on our generator because he was busy at another job and that what he was doing he considered more important than to deal with a residential customers question. He asked if the problem had been resolved and I explained it was resolved by another company. They had came out to the house to replace the computer board in the generator because it had received a surge and fried the board. He asked what I was charged for their repair and visit, and I explained it was under warranty and it was done at no cost. He told me it was best I did contact that company because he would have charged me for the warranty work because Generac doesn't pay him enough money to make warranty calls. I told him based on our discussion that we would no longer require his services at our home and I would like to cancel my Generac Service agreement and be refunded/prorated, the owner replied he would not refund the money because he wasn't in the business to refund customers money because they dont like his service or business and he would be out of business if he had to refund everyone's money that requested a refund.
