The only reason they couldn't get to it faster was because they were so damn busy. They are probably the most professional labor people I've ever met in my life.
Description of Work: They redid my deck. They pulled some of it out and repoured a bunch of it.

My pool was leaking somewhere under the concrete and required specialized equipment to locate it. So I sent Alamo Pool and Spa a note on Angie's List, describing the problem and asked if they could help. Within an hour Chris replied yes and told me to call him. Working with this company went exceptional! They came to my how home twice; once to find the leak and then again to repair it. On both occasions, they were professional and knew exactly what they were doing. So they found the leak under the concrete decking and then repaired it. The repair required going through the concrete and repairing a water return line that had broken. The repair went great and unless I pointed it out, one couldn't tell where they went through the concrete!. I was so relieved to get this fixed since I was loosing so much water and couldn't run my pump. But an unexpected surprise was the price. For both the leak detection and the repair, they came in at the low end of their estimates. That never happens to me! I highly recommend this company and will use them in the future.

Chris showed up early in the time frame provided during the initial scheduling conversation. He was very professional in appearance and manner. I showed him the pool pump I had called about and he stated he had one with him and would be able to take care of things in a timely fashion. Once the repairs were completed, Chris notified me of other problems that had occurred (small leaks in the system) that I had been unaware of that he had also fixed, at no additional cost. The repair was completed quickly and with no obvious hiccups. Chris offered multiple forms of payment acceptance and the entire process was quick and efficient. I would highly recommend using this provider again.

Response from Alamo Pool & Spa Inc
Mr. [member name removed], I appreciate you taking the time to complete a review. As for your chlorinator, it only has 2 parts that could be causing low flow, Its the main valve and the check valve. They are both pretty inexpensive on a retail level. We were not aware of the issue with the chlorinator and it is not a covered issue under your home warranty policy, however we are here to help if you need it. Thank you, Chris

This is not a review on their skills as a pool servicer as I ended up not hiring them for the job I needed. This review is based solely on their responsiveness and professionalism. I first met up with this company in October 2014 as I was thinking of replastering my pool. I specifically told them that I was looking to get the work done in early Feb 2015. They quoted me a price in Oct and that was that. On 1/5/15 I reached out to them via Angie's List email to remind them of who I was, that we had met in Oct., and that I would like the work to begin on Feb 3. I then spoke with Chris several times to work out the details and he even confirmed that he would be available on 2/3 to do the work. I then asked him for an invoice. I never got it. I wrote him again on 1/17/15 advising him that I had not received an invoice. No response. I wrote him again on 1/26/15 advising him that I had not received an invoice. No response. He didn't call back until late last week which is only days from the start date that I wanted for the work. Due to his unresponsiveness, I had to reach out to another company. I'm glad I did. The other company offered me a longer warranty, better price, and no additional charge for gray (instead of white) plaster. Would Alamo have done a good job? I don't know. Again, my review is not for that. Unfortunately, because of their lack of follow-up, timely responsiveness, and professionalism we will never know. A truly disappointing experience to say the least.

Response from Alamo Pool & Spa Inc
In response to your review , I made many efforts to contact you. You never ONCE answered any of my phone calls, not even one. The only time I heard from you was through the Angies List message center which does not go directly to me. I did not get good contact info to send you the bid in writing. In fact the name on this account with angies list isnt even the name you gave me, and the email you gave was not valid. Not sure what your hiding, you dont live in my state and I cannot contact you so why would I trust your going to pay us in the end. Why would we start a job of this size when we can not get in contact to get the deposit required to start. You shouldnt have the right to Slander our company, with an empty review, not when the issue is YOUR lack of communication. YOUR FAKE REVIEW NEEDS TO BE REMOVED.

I was pleased with the work they did. I thought they did a really nice job. It looks like a new pool. The pool was built in 1981. I like the fact that the owner of the company did use some subcontractors and he was right there almost all the time. From start to finish they finished the job in about four days and then they were very concerned that the pool would have to be completely swept down every day for a week after the plaster was completed. They were receptive to me doing it myself. They said a lot of their customers did because it was really important that it be done but I didn't want to do it myself so I had them do it. They really came out every day and swept the pool down.
Description of Work: I used Alamo Pool & Spa. I had them do a pretty complete rehab. They put a new plaster finish on the interior of the pool and a refill. They repaired some pretty bad rust spots, they replaced the pool light, they did some work on the heater for the spa and they did resurfacing using very expensive products.

Chris and his team do very high quality work. Chris seems to have very good knowledge of pools and knows what needs to be done and how to make do it right. I used them for a few small things, repair of a heater and cleaning of filter, before doing the larger task of stopping leaking in my pool. The problems that they solved had been caused by bad work from another company a year or two earlier. I will certainly continue to use this company for my pool needs in the future, as long as they continue the high quality work which I saw on this job.

A technician from Alamo Pool came out on the 17th of July and spent about 40 minutes or so troubleshooting my system. He told me that the problem was not with the actuator valves (which is what another pool warranty service company had suggested) but that the problem was due to a faulty control board (I have an automated management system) and that he would have to order one. I paid him the service fee and he told me he would be in touch with me. After several days of not hearing back from him, I called the company (Chris's phone, the owner) on 22 July to ask for an update and left a voice mail. No return call. I called again the next day, 23 July, and again left a voice mail for him to return my call. No return call. After not hearing from Chris or anyone from the company, I called my home warranty company on 24 July to see if they could get him to respond. They told me that the pool service company had contacted them yesterday and told them that they had not been able to diagnose what the problem was. My warranty company reassigned my case to another pool repair company - hopefully one more responsible and responsive. Update: I received a call from the Alamo Pool owner, Chris, the day after I published my review. He told me that his tech had called my home warranty company and told them that due to the expense of the "electronic board" (cost borne by my home warranty company) they told me needed to be replaced, that they would seek a second opinion. I told Chris the warranty company had told me that Alamo Pool hold told them that they were unable to diagnose the problem and was giving it to another company to handle. I told him I would include this information on my review. I'm still waiting on feedback from the other pool company. August 6 update: the owner of the the replacement pool service company AHS sent to check out my system told me the problem WAS with my valve actuators, as the equipment warranty representative had guessed. He was able to repair one of them, and will replace the other one tomorrow. There is no problem with the $800 control board that I was told needed to be replaced. Fortunately, I had my warranty policy, otherwise I may have been out $800 for a control board I didn't need. Case closed.
Description of Work: I was not getting chlorine to my pool due to my valves not opening/closing properly and I contracted Alamo Pool through my home warranty service.

Everything went as agreed and promised. It took them 3 days from start to finish to complete the job. Mr. Westbrook listened to all of my request and addressed each concern in a very professional manner.
Description of Work: Pool was drained. Resurface inground pool with new plaster. Chipped away existing plaster & replaced all fittings & fixtures along with correction on (4) rebarbed spots. No shifting or cracking found. There was lost pressure found on polaris during leak detection. i decided to cap polaris @ this time. At my request, I had live circuit wire for the pool light to be disconnected, on/off switches for pumps replaced & a bariatric handrail installed in the pool steps.

They always do a great job, explain to me what they are doing, and they are really cool guys. They are very knowledgeable with pools too, let me know exactly what's wrong with it, they're really good, and if you have an appointment with him, he gets down really fast. I lived here for 7 years and he has been doing my pool repairs for at least 6 or 7 years. They are reliable, professional, and timely.

After recent rains in S.A. pool kept changing to green regardless of chemical treatments, including flocking. Apparently the sand filter had failed . Replaced with new Diatomanus earth(sp) and poll cleared in less than 24 hrs. Chris runs a great operation. They have maintained and repaired our pool for several years. We really trust their service.

Chris at Alamo Pool & Spa is the first call whenever you have a pool problem. He has fixed so many different parts and pieces to a aging and neglected system that came with my current home. He is calm, explains everything well, returns when he says he will with ordered parts, and always leaves my pool in better condition than when he arrived.

They are great, Chris and his team are prompt, clean and know what they are doing. Very reliable. Price is fair
Description of Work: Recurring leaks in the skimmer required replacement. They cut the skimmer deeper and installed a new improved model. It's great not to have those recurring leaks particularly during stage 3 water conservation times. They cut out the concrete and deepened the infow to the new skimmer. Two two days because of the concrete work needed to dry/set. We have used Alamo for almost 10 years for a variety of pool maintenance tasks.. They installed a banister to facilitate entry and exit, sealed leaks about every 4-5 months; replaced the filter outlets, patched the pool. Replaced filter unit. Replaced hoses. Etc..

They have been out 4 or 5 times. The work is very well done. We called them and asked them about the railing, and they came over and talked with us. We talked about it and decided which would work best for us. They have repaired a crack in the concrete in the past. A year or two later the circulation system sprung a leak. They dug all that up and put new ports in the pool. Where we live there is a lot of clay. In the Summer things settle and crack. We have been using this company for 5 or 6 years. We have never had a problem with them. They are very cordial. They respond quickly to our problems.

The job was done when he said it would be done and the work was done very well. I have used this company to resurface my pool and I was very pleased with the service. I have used Alamo Pool for anything I need done with my pool. If you get a bid from another company for a job and it is cheaper than his bid, he will match their price. He is reliable and does good work.
