Let me start as follows: My wife and I could not have selected a more professional and competent roofing contractor than Talbert Construction for replacing our roof on our 1883 Victorian home. The following will explain this statement. In May of 2011 we experienced a severe hail storm in Mexia,Texas. Our roof was compromised and sustained moderate to severe damage. We called our insurance company and the next day an inspector, chosen by our insurance company, appeared at our house. It was Jared Talbert. I went up on the roof of our three story home and Jared pointed out the damage. Since we had a full replacement insurance policy the entire roof would be replaced. I was a novice about roofing and had little knowledge about what would be required to accomplish a roof replacement. Jared explained that he had been an insurance adjuster for 10 years before starting his roofing company in Waco, Texas and would be happy to help us negotiate with our insurance company to get a proper settlement for all parties concerned, which meant protection for us, the insurance company and the future construction company that would do the work. Basically he asked Linda and I to trust him and he would become involved with our project. I have always had pride in my ability to size up a persons' character and honesty and this time was no different. Jared came across as an honest, sincere and no nonsense person with which we could trust our insurance issue to and expect a fair outcome. The first insurance adjuster that came to our house was young and inexperienced. His estimate was woefully lacking in enough money to safely and adequately replace our roof. We had s composite roof over cedar shingles and a 12 pitch high and dangerous roof with a very high copula as well as a copper 'widows' walk on the top of our roof. I discussed the submitted estimate with Jared and he advised that the funds to fairly replace our roof was inadequate. To make a long story short, 8 months of negotiations ensued and finally Jared and the insurance company came to a fair and equitable agreement on the amount of dollars necessary to replace our roof properly. The final settlement was substantially more than the initial estimate, and rightly so. Keep in mind that no contract or agreement had ever been signed to this point with Talbert Construction. We still could select another builder. Jared explained that the contract price he submitted to us would be the exact price we would pay, no additional adjustment (commonly known as supplemental contract adjustments) that many roofing companies use after bidding low and needing more funds to complete a job, many times at the homeowners additional expense. We awarded our job to Talbert Construction. We signed our contract with Jared. He suggested the shingles for our roof, which look great, and explained all the items that would be applied to our roof during construction. All, and I mean ALL of our landscaping that surrounded our home was protected and not one leaf was damaged during the entire operation of roof removal (which was substantial when removing 2 layers of roofing materials). The crew that showed up for our job were professional, polite and extremely competent in every aspect of roofing. It seemed that each man had an exact knowledge of roofing skills. Every day a crew would clean up all debris from around the house for the days work, and our roof was always dried in for the night in case rain occurred. It was a comfort to realize we were in good hands for the 7 days it took to re roof our home. As a final comment, Jared did a lot of things that were not specified in our contract that enhanced the value of our home. He would help paint our gingerbread trim, help install old windows that I had not replaced and other small jobs too numerous to mention. In closing I would invite any prospective client of Talbert Construction to take the time to see our home to put your mind at ease if you are not sure who to use for your project. Linda and I have agreed that there is no other roofing company in Texas that could have done such an expert job on our home, and we mean expert in every way. Had we been left alone to handle our job with the insurance company the outcome would have been much different and not near complete and beautiful as the roofing job Talbert Construction did for us. We can only state 'Leave the driving to Talbert Construction'. If you do so, you will reach your final destination, a roofing job you will be proud of and confident that it will be well done. The original sales person was propt and knowledgable of his products. I chose a higher end roof and felt the pricing was fair. The roofers were actually able to start the work a couple of days early and made quick work of the roof relacing decking as needed cutting in roof vents and soffits as requested and relaying the roof very efficeintly. they kept the yard clean and left little evidence of the work performed. The gutters were to be replaced the end of that week. when the person arrived and started to tear down the old gutters he was not prepared for the rotton wood undernieth (the main reason for replaing the gutters) It took another week to get him rescheduled with supplies to compleate the job. He also performed the interior work which was not done to our standards, cutting corners and substandard slow work. He was replaced by Talbot Construction by another sub-contractor that did a better job but took more effort that anticipated due to the repairs required form the other person. After several back and forths and about three weeks the job was completed but the closet was left without a light just hanging wires and no box in the cieling and the coat rack was not replaced either. I believe Talobot Construction did a fine job on the roof but really struggled with the contract workers. If you need a roof redone they will do a good job. I wouldn't use them for other contract work unless you plan to manage the job for them.

The salesman Zach was came to my house at my convenience on Saturday to go over the estimate and again on Sunday to finalize the deal and make color selections. He kept me informed as to when the materials would be delivered and that the job would be done the following day. True to his word both these were done exactly as he had explained. The day following the material drop, a crew of professionally attried men descended on my house and quickly went to work. I don't know what time they completed the job as I myself had to go to work, but when I returned that evening, except for the beautiful roof I had on my house, there was no indication anyone had been there. Talbert did a great job from start to finish. Work started with an inspection of the roof, finding evidence of hail damage. When the insurance adjuster came out, a Talbert man met him and accompanied him onto the roof for an assessment. The amount shown was out of pocket. The total cost was more like $16,000. Kudos to Talbert construction to include sales personnel, supervisors, and workers. The whole team did a great job. I would be proud to recommend them.

My experience with Talbert Construction was great! Ryan was knowledgable, polite and prompt. I couldn't ask for better service and I will call them again when I need a new roof.

This was by far the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. We own an older home and have been doing updates for several years and have not had one contractor that has done what he said he would until now. Talbert Construction was the most professional, knowledgeable, experienced contractor my husband and I have ever dealt with. We own four houses and have numerous repairs done. I will never use anyone else but Talbert Construction on any roofing job I need. I have told everyone in my family, work and church about the great service and quality of job we received. Not only did Talbert deliver the product they said they would, they cleaned up where you couldn't even tell they had been here. The individual workers were courteous, efficient and very respectful of my home and our personal convenience. I can't say enough good about this company. Trust me you won't be sorry if you use Talbert Construction. It will be the best contracting decision of your life. FINALLY a company that does what they say!!! My wife and I could not be happier with the wonderful results we have from Talbert Construction. They made it so easy from handling the insurance company to the prompt and thorough installation procedures they followed in the removal of old shingles and decking and the installation of new decking and shingles. In addition, they cleaned up all their mess wonderfully. I would use them again for any construction job and recommend them highly to one and and all.
