LADCO CONSTRUCTION

We have been in a home that we had Ladco help us renovate and add onto and our brand new roof already has a leak in it. The owner does not know how to manage his team. The crew does not know what they are doing. We had to constantly leave work or be at home whenever they were on site working on the house and they still messed up the building plans. They threw their trash and cigarette butts all over the yard outside. This company should not be in business. The owners son was suddenly involved in working on our home halfway through the project, whenever the owner decided to tell us that he had just been released from serving time. I am devastated that we spent so much and cannot rely on them to fix their mistakes. We have been here less than a year in this house and the roof is leaking water and we are now seeing water stains on our ceiling. This is a horrible company with a really terrible crew and owner.

The owner,, Gary Ladewig, is very good at what he does. He is conscientious and knowledgeable. Not cheap, though!

Things took a lot longer than expected. We originally had Thielmann (another construction company) out to bid on the house before we began working on it back in November 2012. Thielmann knew just by looking at it that it needed to be completely re-done. Ladco came out and looked at it and said we will see as we go. We went with Ladco and it took a while to get things going. We would ask for things and he just had too much going on to remember. We were constantly at the house to make sure things were running okay and came to visit often per their request for questions. I could talk for a long time on all the things within the past 10 months that has unfortunately gone wrong with this company, but overall they finished the job that we asked them to do and made sure that if something was broken they would fix it. I think the professionalism is lacking because he wouldn't let his crew know what was going on he took for granted and assumed too much and what he thought would only take them one day to do always took them much longer and in turn delayed all other progress from happening on the house. We had a huge issue with litter and cigarettes being smoked inside of the brand new house. We found cigarette ash inside of brand new cabinet drawers. It was devastating because this was all supposed to be brand new and clean and its been coated with months of tobacco smoke and tar. I asked them to do specific things with the cabinetry that were forgotten even though we printed out a diagram and labeled things. We specifically asked for a clothes bar to be put up in our laundry room and they ended up adding an extra cabinet. We told them we had an apron front sink and they never asked to see it but instead continued building the cabinetry and later had to go back and redo it as well as the space for the dishwasher. This company charged us labor hours and we wasted a lot of labor on cabinetry being built. We also had an issue with them getting pain all over the windows on the outside. We asked them to clean it and they basically tried to asking the painter if they would be doing the same thing so that maybe they could just clean it off but obviously the painter knows that he needs to cover it up. There were suggestions that resulted in unfinished products and just overall bad decision making. I had issues with my cabinets and they were having to wait on the boss because no one knew how to do the cabinet work. They put off coming to our house for 2 weeks to finish the last of the trim because we had to wait on a door that was never ordered. They also needed to come out and fix a piece of siding that fell off of our house possibly from a cow or other animal. They came out (again after waiting for them for 2 weeks) and ended up having to go back into town and waiting until the following day because he didnt have the material for the siding. The boss isn't all there and missed a lot of small details that ended up making a huge impact and delayed things constantly. My personal opinion is that he needs a break and that his health is interfering with him being able to listen and be effective. We were constantly repeating ourselves and coming over during work hours to talk about things that we had repeatedly discussed. We will be finishing the house with another company in order to get done as quickly as possible. It took us 10 months to figure out that it wasnt going to change.
