I hired this company after the owner Darryl Samford came out to my home and gave me an estimate and let me know what they would do in the yard. This was on August 7, 2012. He let me know at this time that his crews had already finished up in my area for that day and would not be back for two weeks, August 21, 2012. On the 21st my husband stayed home because we have two dogs that are on runs in the yard and we had discussed this with the business owner at the time of the estimate, that we would make sure that we were home on the days that they came out to mow so that we could bring our dogs in the house while they mowed the lawn. Around 4:30 that day we still had not heard from nor seen anyone from the company. My husband called and Darryl apologized many times and said that he had told me the wrong date, his crews worked my area on Thursday. Which meant that they should have mowed the lawn the week that I had hired them. Darryl then explained that he had lost our number which is why he had not gotten in touch with us (I'm in the phone book). The phone call ended with Darryl assuring my husband that they would be out on Thursday the 23rd and if it looked like we would get rain that day that he would personally come out to the house on Wed. to mow the grass. On Thursday around 11am the lawn truck pulled into the driveway. My husband walked outside and began to bring our two dogs in the house and was in clear site of the work truck and the guys inside. After he brought our two dogs in (a small lab and a husky) he walked back outside to see the truck pulling out of the driveway. He assumed that they would be right back but by the days end we realized that they were not coming back. The follwing week I called the company and spoke to Pam Samford and asked her what was going on with our appointment and when they would be back out. She took my name and number and said she would get right back with me this was on Tuesday. Thursday I had still not heard from this company so I called them again. Pam again answered the phone and let me know that she had over heard Darryl talking to his crew that had come out about our yard and the crew told him that they were not going to mow our yard because of all the dogs. (?????) Thats right, the same two dogs that we had discussed at the time the estimate was given, the same two dogs that he saw at my home when he gave me the estimate, the same two dogs that his crew saw my husband bringing into the house, yes it was those same two dogs. When I let Pam know that Darryl knew about my 2 dogs at the time that he was hired and had informed me that it would not be a problem.... why is it a problem now, and why would they not even knock on the door and talk to us or honk their horn or even call us to let us know what the problem was. She let me know that she would have Darryl call me. My husband in the meantime sent Darryl an email via their website and told him that he should be ashamed as a business owner and why at any point in time have they not responded to any of our phone calls or ever called us about any of the problems that were not problems at the time of the estime but are now problems. In response Darryl responded with an email in the subject line titled and quot;last responseand quot; (should have been first response, but who's counting). He tells us that he was in the truck with his crew (according to his wife he heard about it from his crew, which tells me he wasn't in the truck) and that he made the call not to mow our yard (shame he couldn't let us know that he wasn't going to mow our yard). And finished the letter saying and quot;enjoy your dogsand quot;. I guess Samford and Sons doesn't need anymore business. I live in the country and my grass is now knee high, we hired this company after our lawn mower broke and if they did good quality work we would just keep them on instead of replacing the lawn mower. My husband works out of town so I am now left with a yard with extremely high grass that I can't let my kids play in since the snakes are now coming up to the house. Thanks so much Sanford and Son's. The bottom line is that their customer service could not have been worse. They never returned phone calls, never kept us informed of changes and in the end left us with a yard that we will need a tractor to mow it. We wasted two days of the seven days that I get to spend with my husband in a month waiting on a company to perform work that was promised. In all, I dealt with this company for 30 days only to recieve nothing but a headache and a very horrible looking yard. Pitiful.....
