This is the second time I have used Texas Shower Company for a bathroom remodeling and floor tile work. I was again very pleased with all their work. Their team is very professional and delivers high quality. They are also dependable and always do a great job of cleaning up. They are great at problem solving when the remodel uncovers some hidden issues. This was the case in the shower remodel and they corrected the problem so the end product looks amazing!

The trades workers for Texas Shower did good quality work for us, and were pro's. No major complaints about the work performed. AND, if I had known 3 months ago when we contracted with Texas Shower what I know now, I would NOT hire this firm to do any work at our home. On our project, we were told would be 2 - 2 1/2 weeks, and it actually took 5 weeks, before I told them not to come back anymore. The major disconnect is with Todd, Texas Shower owner / manager and his near total lack of communications, responsiveness and customer focus. Todd showed up on first day of job for maybe 30 minutes, and then we only ever saw him again we he came by to collect weekly draw payments on Friday afternoons, despite telling us he would be involved, and on-site working almost every day. He is easily the least customer-focused small business owner I have ever met; and he actively ignored my requests for information on what was planned for the next few days or week. Oh, and Todd said he doesn't normally use licensed electricians or plumbers, he lets his handymen do that work. Wrong - this is violation of building codes and industry practices! I insisted they get a licensed electrician to wire in a new circuit and they were amazed at my requirement. At the end of the construction, I had to insist, by way of withholding final payment, they come back out to actually clean the tiles they laid of dirt, grout and mortar residue - which they did a half-assed job; re-install the towel bars and misc bathroom hardware; and they never did put the attic insulation back where they had removed. They left drywall mud all over the front patio, and really did not seem to give much thought to the homeowner and the family living there. Our experience easily rates a D-

I am pleasantly surprised to receive a passing grade from this customer. Upon first meeting the homeowner there was a major red flag that was raised when he proudly described how he had "ran off" two previous contractors during the remodeling process. I try not to prejudge so I took the job out of confidence in the professionalism and workmanship of my employees. Early into the project there were a few winter warnings, winter advisories, and school closures which added to some of the delays. It was apparent we were going to have a hard time with this homeowner when on the first day of winter weather, with schools opening 2 hours late, my guys were met at the door with curse words and threats of lawsuits for being late. I immediately tried to diffuse the situation over the phone and was met with the same abuse. Despite the continued tyrannical working conditions I kept my crew's moral high and we were able to meet every request by the customer and build another beautiful bathroom. I happily accept the passing grade and am proud of my guys getting a B for workmanship from a customer who was determined that we were going to fail like the two contractors he "ran off" before us.

Chad was easy to work with on a day to day basis. He was very hands-on and able to provide solutions to any problems that came up during the project. He provided a detailed estimate of all the work to be done. I felt I got a good value for the work that was done. He was also flexible if the homeowner wanted to do some of the work themselves or had a different cabinet vendor. He was very careful to protect floor and provided plastic covers to protect furniture and belongings from dust. The quality of the work was very good and we have a beautiful new master bathroom and closet.

Chad gave a detailed estimate prior to the job. His estimate came out slightly lower than the other 3 estimates, plus he was more flexible in his approach. We purchased the vanity, counter tops, tiles etc. and Chad took care of all the labor and installation. All the workers were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. Chad was very responsive throughout the project. he would let us know via txt when he was on his way so we could be home. The work was done very well. The delays were mostly because of us when we didn't have all the tiles picked out or the counter tops took longer than expected. Finally the bathrooms are done and they look fantastic!

iChad, owner of Texas Shower arrived early for the appointment to review our remodel needs and sent the quote when promised. We were so impressed with his professionalism from our first meeting. Chad made several suggestions to improve our plans for the remodel and indicated different ways we could save time and money. We are an elderly couple who have just moved to Austin and only had Angies List to help us choose contractors to contact in Austin. We immediately felt we could trust Chad to be honest with us throughout the project and we were right. His quote was very detailed and helpful because it listed some of the options we had discussed and pricing. I was a Real Estate Broker for over 30 years and worked with numerous builders but this young man is without a doubt the best of the best. Throughout the 3 month project he strived for perfection and included several small details to improve the appearance of the completed job. On day one he and his assistant arrived and put down a protective film from the front door throughout the house to the bathroom door, protecting our hardwood floors and carpet which was just the beginning of his attention to detail. If you are blessed enough to be able to get on his work schedule, count yourself very very blessed. Chad or his assistant, Glenn were on site whenever any other members of his crew were working and they made sure the site was as clean as an on going work site can be at the end of each work day. Chad and Glenn do a tremendous amount of the work themselves and they are both perfectionists. It has been a couple of months since the project has been completed and we haven't found one single thing in need of a call back. Amazing and awesome group to work with on this remodel.

Overall Chad and team did a good job and I would rate the total project as an A-. Chad analyzed the job, provided a detailed estimate and options, provided sources for materials, and performed work to our satisfaction. General tear down and prep work was done in a timely and professional manner. We like the tile layout and quality of job. Construction and plumbing was also done well. We only had two issues with the project. The painters did a less than quality job on the bath vanity but Chad came back and repainted it. They also used a floor covering on our wood floors that left a slight residue which they attempted to clean. They won't use that material for future projects. I would use this provider again for a bath remodel job.

We were delighted that Chad and his guys showed up when they indicated they would for whatever the job of the day might have been. Often times they were even early. They were very careful about protecting our wood flooring and furnishings. We really really appreciated the clean up each and every day when they ended the job for that day. Have to admit that these guys were so totally awesom that we were almost (remember I sald almost) sorry when the job was done because we looked forward to seeing them each day, knowing they would come in and do a great job and leave the area as clean as possible at the end of the day.
Description of Work: Chad Walker and his crew are awesome and we feel so blessed to have found them on Angies List. They absolutely gutted our master bath, including removal and replacement of a large window. Chad's attention to detail was amazing. He suggested several little things that have made using our new bathroom even more delightful. The cabinetry is an exceptionally high quality. We have just moved to Austin and there is so much remodeling work to be had out there that we were skeptical about being over charged so I got a couple of estimates. After the first meeting we knew that we wanted Chad to do the job. He is so humble, honest and easy to work as well as being reasonable on his pricing. Can't imagine that there is a better company in all of Austin to remodel your bathroom.

I emailed and followed up with a phone call to get an estimate on a bathroom remodel in early September. No response on either. Looks like I'm not the only one this month. In previous reviews the owner personally apologizes for this lack of response and states that he would dedicate some time to provide every inquiry with the best possible information. I don't know this company's quality, and never will since I'll never call them again. But come on, return an email or a call, that's basic professionalism regardless of the size of your company. If you don't need new customers then stop mass marketing. So for customer service, a big fat F!

Texas Shower is a unique company in today's world. Owner Chad Walker is a 3rd generation craftsman having been introduced to the trade growing up in Maine. He and his team are hands down the best I have ever experienced. Texas Shower did a complete tear down and remodel of our master bath. Projected timeframe was expected to have taken four weeks and was completed almost to the day four weeks later. From the beginning, Chad was a key part of the effort helping with design ideas, best practices, and suggestions for the best retailers for the materials needed. Our process started with interviewing 5 vendors. During the process Chad remained extremely patient and responsive to our many requests often driving from north Austin to our home to meet in person. This was a gesture that was not always necessary but most appreciated and a preview into the personal touch and involvement he demonstrated throughout the process. His pre-contract effort was not driven by just by the desire to win the bid. It was, as we found, the way he conducts business. He stayed involved throughout the effort doing much of the work himself. Chad's team was a small group of very skilled professional all of whom had worked together for years. They were extremely diligent in protecting the home (wood floors, walls and carpet) from any damage during the effort. As should be expected, there were a couple of very minor nicks and scratches over the four weeks but Texas Shower, as they stated they would prior to our signing the contract, had all professionally repaired. Again, these incursions were minor and repaired immediately upon completing the project. Over the four weeks, the team became part of the family making the four weeks pass quickly. We interviewed five companies for the work. I cannot recommend the services of Texas Shower any lower than extraordinary not only in the quality of the work but also the consultative approach and genuine commitment to our satisfaction. We'll, without question, be using their services again in the near future for other projects.

Our bath had already been partially updated previously with tile, new toilet, cabinet refinishing and a new bath tub. Texas shower company was tasked with finishing the job with the tile we had on hand and making it all work together. The final price was true to the estimate even though we complicated things by deleting and adding items during the project. Chad and the crew were very responsive to our ideas and requests. They made sure to lay down protection on the hardwood floors leading into the bathroom and cleaned up the mess as they progressed from demolition to construction. The people that work for Chad were very professional, respectful, and likeable. The finished room is now a delight to use and we are very happy with the process and the results. We would definitely recommend Texas Shower Company and use them again for our next bath project.
Description of Work: Texas Shower Company rebuilt and enlarged our shower. This included changing the location of the shower head, enclosing a window, floor to ceiling tile, glass enclosure, built in nook and shower seat and new fixtures. The also replaced two counter tops with beautiful granite, replaced sinks, replaced faucets, built and installed upper cabinets to match lower, replace light fixtures, added a ceiling fan and replaced mirrors.

I want to personally apologize to everyone that I did not send a bid to. I am very "hands on" and spend most of my time on jobsites building, designing, managing, and problem solving. This is how I first started as a teenager on the coast of Maine working with my grandfather and it is still where my passion lies today. I want to make sure the current jobs are being completed with long lasting craftsmanship and that the customer is taken care of. While I stand by this strategy, I have come to realize that I haven't communicated very well with potential customers. I assumed that they were getting multiple bids and they would find a contractor that would take care of their needs if I was too busy to follow up. That obviously was a mistake on my part and I will no longer be making that assumption. I will dedicate part of each day to being in the office where I can give potential customers the information they need to make well educated decisions on their remodeling projects. Again, I apologize.

I first contacted Texas Shower Company on Monday 4/1/13, and received a prompt reply from Chad that same day. I described the scope of the project and location, and he indicated an interest in providing a quote. I responded to his email within an hour, and asked if he might be available to meet on Friday or Saturday of that week. I did not hear any further from Chad for 8 days until Tuesday 4/9/13 when he emailed and asked if I would be available to meet him on Saturday 4/13. I made arrangements for that day, and Chad showed up on time and we discussed the project in complete detail. He was very pleasant and professional, took the requisite measurements, and indicated he was very interested in the job. He said he would have a proposal back to me within a week. After 4 months now, I have never heard back from him. Both the initial 8 day delay in his response, and the fact that neither a proposal nor any further communication followed our meeting is a bit frustrating, and resulted in a waste of both of our time and a delay in my project. I can certainly understand if a contractor is too busy or uninterested in a particular job, but simply the courtesy of timely communication isn't an unreasonable expectation. Showing disrespect to prospective clients by being unresponsive is really surprising and most unfortunate.

We had to wait awhile to get onto their busy schedule, but we weren't in a big hurry, so that wasn't a problem. Chad (the owner) was involved in almost all of the work himself. He personally dropped off granite samples in our color preference, and sent us information on sinks, which made decision-making much easier. For the most part they were punctual and kept us informed of the progress. The quality of the work was great. They responded quickly and professionally to correct the few small issues I had. We have 2 small, energetic dogs, that we closed up in a room so that they wouldn't be in the way, and Chad was kind enough to let them out when they left each day. The whole process took a bit longer than we'd hoped, but that was mainly due to the incorrect shower door being shipped, and even though it was not Chad's fault, he was most apologetic, and re-arranged his schedule to install it asap when it arrived. We plan to use Texas Shower again to replace some ugly old tile in our entryway.
Description of Work: Had bathroom remodeling done in our master bathroom, including removal of of vanity counters/sinks and large frameless wall mirror and replacement with granite counter and dual sinks; and demo and complete rebuild of shower, which included ceramic tile with a corner bench, and raising the low ceiling inside the shower to the height of the room ceiling and installing a new recessed light. Also removed the vanity/sink and full length wall mirror in guest bathroom and replaced with granite counter and new sink. And we had a 3/4 high wall between our kitchen and dining room cut down to bar height (a half-wall), with a 'shelf' installed on the top of it.

They were the fastest quote and the fastest start time. It took almost two weeks to demo and finish the shower. The glass doors took another two weeks as they could not even start (close tolerances of the frameless glass) until the shower was done. Also, we had to delay a little due to being out of town. We have had multiple jobs being done inside this year (house is entering its 20th year) and given the work, these guys were above average.

Chad from Texas Shower Company drove a long ways, on a Saturday to inspect water damage caused by my shower. He checked several things and identified the likely problem quickly. He then explained to me how to repair it if I chose to do it myself. I was very please with his consultation and asked him to invoice me, but he refused to take a dime. This part illustrates that Chad is not a pirate contractor and a really courteous and professional contractor. Additionally he was correct about the shower problem and his consultation saved me a lot of money. He was easy to reach by email and let me know when he was running a few minutes late due to another stop. I cannot comment on the quality of his actual work since he only consulted me. His website shows lots of his work and has good general information on bathroom remodels and repairs.
Description of Work: This report is limited to an inspection and consultation given in person regarding water damage caused by an imperfectly installed tile shower.
