F A LEITZEL CONSTRUCTION

DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON: Mr. Leitzel is a sweet older gentlman who will probably give you a low bid. He will talk of his experience and I do believe, in his earlier days, he was top notch. However, not at this time in his life. He contracted out to have someone install the tile work after he put in a shower pan. The person who did the tile was not a perfectionist. I suspect that he was an inexpensive employee that Mr. Leitzel hired. I wanted the tile to look nice so I decided to get it replaced. I called another tile professional to come and give me an estimate. He took off some of the tiles and discovered that Mr. Leitzel had use some sheet rock as a backing on the outside border of the shower stall. He also did not use any water proofing on the shower cap (ie. redguard waterproofing). Waterproofing this area would have been beneficial since it is exposed to water from the shower. He used inappropriate screws to hold backing in place and did not use the appropriate redguard waterproofing. Also, a licensed plumber indicated that the drain used was not appropriate for a fiberglass shower pan. Update: the new plumber and tile setter took apart Mr. Leitzels work. They discovered that he did not use the appropriate type of drain and that he did not wait for the fiberglass to dry before he continued to on with the shower construction. He also cracked the drain but used it anyway. He used solid concrete instead of another type of concrete that needed to be used. We have taken photos and my new plumber and tile setter are disgusted. I am in the process of turning Mr. Leitzel into the Texas Board of Plumbers for performing plumbing work for money within the city limits WITHOUT A PLUMBING LICENSE!

It was very minor bathroom remodeling. It was a two day job. He was here when he was supposed to be here and he left when he was supposed to leave. He did excellent work and everything was in good shape. His price did not go above his quote. He did not overcharge me.

Overall, it went very well. Frank was on the job when he said he would be; I found him to be extremely dependable. He is a good communicator, listening to any concerns and discussing the process. He is committed to making sure the customer is satisfied, and gurantees his work. He always returned my calls, and even when just the tile was being installed, he would stop by to check on things in the mornings. We've never hired anyone to do anything in our house before, and this whole process went much more smoothly than I would have predicted, especially considering all the stories I've heard, and all the things that can go wrong.

He can do anything. He is a plumber and electrician and did the entire bathroom remodel with himself and a helper. He did an excellent job. They were diligent and at home at 7:30 every morning. The did the job and stayed on the job until completion. He did not take and more projects until mine was done. He has 2 trucks and inside is basically a factory of equipment. All of his tools were readily available so he did not have to leave to get more. I can t praise this man enough!

Frank did a great job putting in the Fiberglas showerpan. He is an expert at what he does and has been doing it for 25 years. Anyone who knows, Fiberglas is tricky to work with. It's much better than a rubber liner, but because Frank is less expensive than most companies, it was only slightly more. Also, since we were building a walk-in shower with bench, there was a lot to cover. Frank not only did a great job with the pan, he also offered to correct some of my do-it-yourself carpentry mistakes. Without us prompting, he asked if we'd like an alcove built to put our shampoo, etc. Of course we said yes, and he provided the work, the carpentry work, and waterproofed it with more Fiberglas ... All for $25!!! He was pleasant to work with, showed up on time and was below his initial estimate.
